Lotus HouseLotus House Eastern Japan 2005.06 Villa 530.27m2 A house by a quiet river, deep in the mountains. The architecture itself is basically composed of holes. It is divided into two wings, with the hole-shaped terrace in between serving to connect the wood in the back of the house with

I believe this was taken in the 1890s in Ueno Park, Tokyo. If you cross the lake and look back, here's what you will see --- in the distance, the very tea house we are now standing in : www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2346311123/ Although the image at the above-mentioned link was photographed by T. ENAMI, I don't think the Geisha photo above was by him. It appears to be mid-afternoon, with the ladies finishing up their own meal after the lunch crowd had gone, and the before the evening crowds arrive for some refreshment. I wasn't going to post this one, as I thought the chemical stains were too much (all over the seated Geisha to the left, and the floor and pillar). However, I thought a view looking OUT from a Tea House is rather rare. Further, how many geisha shots do we have where it's possible to LOOK RIGHT THROUGH HER OBI and off into the scenery ? That would be the Obi of the Geisha standing at the railing. So, the stains are forgiven, and we can just pretend they are shadows playing across the scene. For another shot looking INSIDE a Tea House, here's this : www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2819980890/ And if you are into Lotus Blossoms, here's these : www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2843844362/ www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2543634663/
