Back in its day, the The Queen Mary Hotel was such a massive speed-machine she made ships like the Titanic look like a tugboat. Today old Queeny has become one of the most visited water-worthy hotels, hosting some of the world's most famous movie stars and politicians, but with all of that fame and luxury comes a dark side… The 1000-foot ship hit the waves in 1936, after years of construction. Unfortunately the luxurious life aboard the Queen didn’t last long, because by 1939 the ship was transformed and sent off to war to carry 800,000 soldiers. During her time as a war vessel, she survived a mid-sea collision, traveled more than 600,000 miles, and was an integral part of the D-Day invasion. After all that, the Queen Mary went back to being the amazing luxury liner she was born to be, until 1967 when she completed her 1001 Atlantic crossing, and came to her final resting place at Long Beach. That’s when the strange stuff started… Since 1936, the Queen Mary has witnessed 49 recorded deaths, and after years in the service the unrecorded deaths probably doubled that, so it’s no surprise that the ship has plenty of ghost stories. The Queen Mary supposedly has 150 different sprits lurking its halls, waiting to make contact with the living. Some of the more famous areas of the ship include “Door 13” located in the ships engine room, 50-feet below the surface of the water. The massive engine room door has crushed not one, but two men to death in its iron jaws. One of its victims was an unnamed 18-year-old boy who has been witnessed walking the alley near the door, wearing a pair of dark blue overalls. The staterooms are also a hotbed of ghostly activity. Many have witnessed a tall shadowy man who paces back and forth inside first-class. The ghosts of waiters, children, and event he sound of a baby crying is often heard echoing from the darkness of the staterooms. The most famous ghosts associated with the Queen Mary are the children who have died in the poolrooms over the years. Jackie, the sprit of a talkative little girl, is most often experienced by visitors to the second-class poolroom. More often than not Jackie is heard rather than seen, but if you follow her wet-footprints they always lead to the pool. Time and time again people have captured her quiet voice interacting with the groups who pass through. If you don’t believe me, that’s okay, you can investigate the rumors of hauntings yourself. The Mary offers visitors loads of daytime and nighttime ghost hunts, tours, and investigations to some of the most famous sections of the ship to search for signs of sprit. If you’re going to be in Long Beach and you’re looking for a hotel that isn’t conventional, why not bunk up at the Queen Mary, and who knows, maybe you’ll bump into the “other” guests too. -Roadtrippers The majestic Queen Mary offers you the chance to step back in time aboard one of the most famous ocean liners in history. Going back to the days where steamships were the quickest and most elegant way to travel, the Queen Mary was the first choice for the elite of high society. In October of 2011, members of PANICd took a trip to California. Our first overnight stop was the Queen Mary. The PANICd organization is not a paranormal society or investigation group, but a group that has the focus of documenting and collecting information about a paranormal location and paranormal history. This trip was a great fact finding mission, and the origin of "Our Haunted Travels".If you have not heard about the Queen Mary before, and would like some of the historical background, che
