The Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, commonly referred to as just L-1011 (pronounced "ell-ten-eleven"), was the third widebody passenger jet airliner to enter operation, following the Boeing 747 and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. The L-1011 TriStar was Lockheed's entry into the mid-size and mid-range commercial aircraft market. Customers included Air Canada, ANA, British Airways, Court Line, Delta, Eastern, LTU, PSA, TWA, Cathay Pacific, Gulf Air, and Saudia. The L-1011 prototype, which was first flown on 16 November 1970, was scrapped for parts in 1986.
