A new study lead by GSI scientists and international colleagues investigates black-hole formation in neutron star mergers. Computer simulations show that the properties of dense nuclear matter play a crucial role, which directly links the astrophysical merger event to heavy-ion collision experiments at GSI and FAIR. These properties will be studied more precisely at the future FAIR facility. The results have now been published in Physical Review Letters. With the award of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics for the theoretical description of black holes and for the discovery of a supermassive object at the center of our galaxy, the topic currently also receives a lot of attention.

Gravitational wave detectors are finding black hole mergers in the universe at the rate of one per week. If these mergers occur in empty space, researchers cannot see associated light that is needed to determine where they happened. However, a new study in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, led by scientists at the American Museum of Natural History and the City University of New York (CUNY), suggests that researchers might finally be able to see light from black hole mergers if the collisions happen in the presence of gas.

~~ Marichat Fanfiction ~~ After the Evillistrator incident, Chat Noir has been making frequent visits to Marinette's balcony, sliding letters through the trap door into her room. The letters mostly ask for her forgiveness, advice and ordering her to protect herself from the dangers of akumas. Marinette is conflicted with her love for Adrien Agreste (who is, in actual fact, Chat's true identity). But nevertheless, she decides to reply to Chat Noir's letters, which leads to the two growing closer than ever before.

As Temple Grandin says, "the world needs all kinds of minds." and some of those minds "think in pictures". Doodling is a form of external thought that allows you to visualize the connections you are making while thinking. In the conscious mind, doodling can assist concentration and focus but even in the unconscious mind, while doodling and day dreaming connections are made. As Steven Johnson says, the "mind's primordial soup" can lead to "serendipitous collisions of creative insight". Doodling has allowed connections to be made between people and ideas, the magical space between. These aspects can lead to better problem solving. By sharing my thinking through visual means, my most important connections have been to people, by way of sharing my perceptions of their ideas, presentations and words back to them. gforsythe.ca/2011/08/22/unplugd-voices-choices/ (v.1 available for reference here: www.flickr.com/photos/gforsythe/6009763204/)
