I needed an idea for after program singing time, but I wanted to give the kids a break from the same old songs/learning a new song. I saw the mustache on a plate idea somewhere(the song was hidden under the mustache) but I wanted to change things up a bit. Cue TRIVIA GAME!! I titled the game "I Mustache You A Question". I put together a bunch of questions about primary songs (I have the document of questions I used. I'll add them at the end). A few children at a time came forward (I did 3 for lack of time) and answered their question. If they got the answer correct they pulled a mustache off any plate and got to wear it while they helped lead the next song. It was a hit! It brought lots of laughter and smiles to the room, but they were quick to be reverent again because they all wanted a turn. (For making the Mustache Men) I cut lots of different looking mustaches out of felt. Laminated a piece of card stock(helped a ton for durability) and hot glued the mustaches to it. Cut the mustaches out and taped them on the plates that I had drawn silly faces on. (I stuck a few pieces of tape on the area of the plate I would be removing the mustache from over and over again so it wouldn't rip my plates.) After junior primary was over and put a new piece of tape on each mustache and stuck them back on the plates for sr. primary. The kids had a wonderful time playing and I was happily surprised how well they answered some of the questions. Hopefully this can help someone out. Let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy!! -Brooke I googled primary singing time trivia games and a whole bunch came up. I picked through them, came up with a few of my own and compiled this list of questions. Image from Ashley singingtimeinfortworth.blogspot.com She's got some great ideas!! I needed a last minute singing time idea and found THIS. I loved it!!! But more importantly the children loved it. In fact, one child loved it so much, he took both my SING and DARE bag. I couldn't find it anywhere for Senior Singing Time!!! I had to do the DARE or SING off the top of my head!! I didn't make a fancy poster. Because I'll be honest... paper bags are easier. Then you cut the following into strips and have them choose. Ashley's DARE: For Junior Primary Stand on your chair and shout "I love primary!" Name your favorite thing about Primary Name 2 latter day prophets Switch seats with someone else Give your teacher a hug Give the primary presidency (I changed to Pianist) a high five For Senior Primary Tell the names of everyone in your class Stand on your chair and shout "I love Primary!" Give everyone a high-five Name 3 latter day prophets Hop on one foot around the podium 3 times Draw a picture of your favorite food I added some dares: Open the primary door and loudly say in the hallway, "I need a snacky!!!" (That was awesome!) Act like a fish for 20 seconds In a sing-song voice give 3 people in primary a compliment For singing, I chose different songs and used Ashley's ways to SING: Clap the rhythm while you sing March in place while you sing Play Stop/Go while you sing Stand on one foot and sing Tiptoe in a circle while you sing Whisper sing

A great way to teach the story of the Anti-Nephi-Lehis who buried their weapons of war as part of their conversion and true repentance (as found in Alma 24 of The Book of Mormon ). I printed mine on magnets to use in my lessson, you can also iron on felt pieces, or just laminate the printed copy paper. I included the black and white sword that you can let the children color and perhaps write on the back what weapons in their life that they need to bury. You could potentially bury all of their swords! It makes a great missionary gift!
Alma 5:44–48I can gain my own testimony through the Holy Ghost. • To help your children learn to grow their own testimony, you could show them the picture below and ask them how we help baby animals grow. You could then relate this to taking care of our testimonies. What care do our testimonies need? How can we tell if they are growing?Click on this image to be taken to the church's website to read this story. Print HereIf you don't want all the fuss with the dirt and seeds, there is this option

Lesson helps and handouts for LDS Primary 3 Lesson 32: Remembering Jesus Christ When We Take the Sacrament
Today we talked about Queen Esther and fasting. I know that Esther is often linked with courage or bravery and rightly so, but I was trying to come up with different powers for our scripture heroes. Since Esther spent three days fasting and encouraged her people to fast as well I thought it was a good time to talk about it. You can download her Scripture Hero Chart here. We watched the LDS Scripture Story video of Esther. The church also has a video about Esther that's nearly 14 minutes long. We also watched Veggie Tales: Esther, the Girl Who Becomes Queen. Chocolate on My Cranium has printable flannel board figures to tell the story of Esther. A Year of FHE has a lesson about Queen Esther. We also did a role play about fasting to help the children understand the concept a little better. You can find it in this FHE Fasting Lesson.

We split up our Junior and Senior Primary. Below is the agenda we use so that whoever is conducting knows the schedule and what announcements to make. We do talks on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, scripture on the 1st and 5th Sundays and on the 3rd Sunday, one of the Bishopric comes in to do Sharing Time, so we don't have a talk or scripture so they have more time to speak. It is uploaded as a .doc so that you can change it to however you like. I'd love to hear how others do their sharing times, so comment below! Click HERE to download!

The first time I used this visual for Faith, my children hardly sang because they were so amused by the "special effects". -So I'm just warning you :) They loved how the visuals pop up from the pocket. This visual was made from the idea here from singingtimeideas.blogspot.com. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Thanks!

Today we talked about Abinadi. You can download his scripture hero chart here. I used clip art from Free LDS Clip Art. I love how Abinadi stood strong and testified even as he was being burned to death and thought it was appropriate to make his power testimony. As always we watched the LDS scripture video about Abinadi and King Noah. We also watched a little video clip from Living Scriptures. I told the story using these flannel board figures. After that we sang "I Belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" instead of just sitting or standing I marched around our living room and had them follow me as we sang. A Year of FHE has a great lesson about Abinadi. It also includes this book mark that each of my children colored. Then I laminated them and we put ribbon through them . I also used another game that I got out of a Finch Family Game book. You can see their website here. This game was about testimonies. We had to spell out the word testimony by matching the cards up. The cards were different things we can have a testimony about. After the game I bore my testimony to my children and gave them the opportunity to share their testimonies as well. They have already guessed that we will be talking about Alma next. :)
The bible is packed with drug-fuelled visions of miracles and according to a leading academic when Moses met God to receive the Ten Commandments, he was on a hallucinogen-induced high. The theory claims that key events of the Old Testament are actually records of visions by ancient Israelites high on hallucinogenic drugs

I created a simple matching game for the quorum of the twelve, and the first presidency. My intention was for younger children, therefore giving the apostles 1st name as a clue, with the last name being a fill in the blank. I figured it could be a good review before Conference - to see how many of the apostles they can name. Doesn't have to do much with singing...but perhaps FHE, or something... email me for the matching game in PDF file: [email protected]
