Lochlyn Shawl is a triangular shawl knit sideways. The shawl is rich in texture and colorwork but easy to knit. The two colorways used are simply alternated every two rows, with only one color used per row. The broken garter pattern and the color changes are uncomplicated but interesting to work. A deep, garter stitch border finishes off this soft and tactile wrap. The pattern includes both Charts and written instruction. The shawl is easily adjustable to any size. The sample shown, blocked: 62 inches X 24 inches deep. Yarn used in the sample: Color A - 2 skeins Tosh DK in Glazed Pecan; Color B - 1 skein Tosh DK in Shire Yardage requirements for the size shown: Color A - 334m/362yds and Color B - 189m/205yds Color A is the wide single color border.
The beautifully rounded, winged crescent shape of luscious and generous Mare allows for a lot of styling options. You can wrap, knot and drape her, and she will naturally embrace your shoulders without the aid of a pin. She will look just as good in two tonal colors as in something more contrasting and attention-grabbing. CONSTRUCTION Mare is worked from the top down. First, the inner section is shaped using short rows. After this section is completed, increases are worked at both ends of the shawl. A few carefully placed increase rows ensure the shawl can easily be blocked to a winged, rounded crescent shape. All colorwork is done using the slip-stitch technique, so you will be handling only one strand at all times. SIZE Approx. 280 cm / 110.25” wingspan, measured along the top edge, and a depth of 59 cm / 23.25”. YARN Fingering weight yarn. MC approx. 750 m / 850 yards. CC approx. 470 m / 510 yards. If you want a smaller shawl you could BO after the second Corn on the Cob pattern section. According to the testers you will need approx. 275 m / 300 yards of the MC and 220 m / 240 yards of the CC. Sample shown in Tukuwool Fingering; 100% wool, 195 m / 213 yds per 50 gr. MC: Rae, CC: Auri. INSTRUCTIONS Directions for the flower sections of the shawl are written out and charted. This cosy triangular shawl combines lovely graphic mosaic knitting, garter stitch and a beautiful lace pattern that echoes the diamond mosaic motif. It is worked in fingering weight yarn in two colours. Big colour blocks, bold mosaic diamonds and elegant lace create a fascinating interplay of colour & texture in this eyecatching item! The two-colour diamond motif is created with the mosaic knitting technique, which is easy to knit as it uses slipped stitches and only one colour at a time. Knit on the bias as a sideways triangle with a centred bottom tip makes it a cosy and easy to wear shawl. The pattern comes in fully written out instructions as well as charted ones. Added French translation! Thank you boetmoifor your help! Dutch below. Nederlands zie onder. Veertje is a very light weight shawl but still warm and stylish. The shape is long and not too wide, a slightly crescent shape with cute tassels at the end We used the special for Veertje handdyed kits from Wol met Verve. The lovely subtle tones blend into one another like a watercolour painting. You need 2 different kinds of threads, one Merino and one Kidmohair blend. Merino to keep the shape and the Kidmohair to make it light and airy. By playing with the threads in different ways and in four subtle colours there will be a nice effect of tones and textures. Of course you can use yarn that has the same properties.
