This is a triangle (slightly asymmetrical) shawl , knit sideways. The size of the shawl is easy adjustable.
In the end, as you all suspected, everything is fine. With the knitting finished and the object blocked, it’s smaller than a shawl but bigger than a kerchief. I failed to measure anything before I blocked it, but I suspect it wound up about 32 inches wide. After blocking, it’s 42 inches wide and 21 […]

This is a cowl that you can cozy down into, an extra layer of thick, soft merino that will keep you toasty as you go about your day. The inside is also attractive, shown at left, and the cowl can be worn folded over (and upside-down, apparently.) If you would like a wider cowl, increase the number of stitches by 2 and decrease the number of rounds that you do.Using two different colors (including variegated yarns) or a single color, you can make a unique Crunching Leaves Cowl and whip one up for a holiday gift in no time. Using one of my favorite stitches, the “Woven Stitch” it has the appearance of something woven on a loom but is simple enough for a beginner to complete.MaterialsUS 10.5/6.5mm (or 11 if you can get gauge) for main body US 10/6mm for borders 2 skeins of Dragonfly Fibres Super Traveller, shown in Golden Compass and Silver Fox. or 2 skeins of bulky yarn, in two different colors, 100 yards each.Final Measurements25” around by 11” tall

A small triangular shawl with an easy lacy border, the Oaklet is a pretty little accessory that you can wear around your neck or across your shoulders. In the size shown, Oaklet uses about one skein of fingering weight yarn. It’s worked on relatively large needles for extra drape, and the pattern is easy to modify.
In this gorgeous wrap, Isabell's characteristically precise use of texture shines through with amazing results. We love the crisp, mitered rib border as much as the diamond pattern framed within. In cool Iceland, this piece is striking, but try it in our other heathers!

Cozy enough for working on the water or just for fending off the elements on a blustery day, this generous scarf is plush with panels of trinity stitch and interlacing cables. Tiller is more than six feet of toothsome knitting, worked from one end to the other with a tubular cast-on and bind-off for neat and durable edges. The handsome net of cables is intuitive to knit, so you’ll quickly find a comfortable rhythm. And the trinity stitch yields deep texture in the flanking panels, mimicking the appearance of small bobbles through paired triple increases and decreases that are simple to work. Tiller will also introduce a new edge technique into your repertoire: wrapped chain selvedges have a similar appearance to garter stitch, but yield a cleaner and more structured straight edge that’s useful for all kinds of projects. Knit this scarf in your favorite bright hue of Shelter to beat the winter doldrums or select a warm neutral to pair with any outfit when the air turns chilly. Broken V’s is a lightweight wrap with a subtle pattern of interrupted chevrons. The long rectangle can be worn as a scarf as well as around the shoulders. The original piece was made in Holst Garn Supersoft 100% Uld. Any fingering weight yarn could be substituted, or even a heavier yarn worked on larger needles to make a very substantial wrap. Gauge is not critical but may affect final measurements and quantity of yarn required. The lace pattern is given in written form only; no chart. Many thanks to test knitters ulla221 and txtaurus.

Whirligig is a light-hearted and whimsical scarf knit with alternating colours of Noro yarn. Knit in the round as a long tube, “resting” yarns are carried up along the inside of the scarf so there are, miraculously, just a few ends to sew in at the end of all those stripes. The profusion of colour will soothe your eyes and brighten your mood on bleak winter days and the double-thickness fabric will keep you warm and toasty.

Please use the measurements above, not the schematic, to determine which size will fit you best. Schematic lists finished garment measurements only. Pattern Notes Notes and fitting tips will appear throughout the pattern, format- ted like this. Pattern begins at the waistband, which is worked with a provisional cast-on so that it can be closed without any seaming. Short rows are placed below the waistband in the back to add length to ensure good coverage. You may work more or fewer short rows to suit your shape. From there, the garment is worked in the round, increasing at the side seams to accommodate the hips. The crotch is worked straight down the middle and then the increases split to form a gusset that will eventually be seamed with either grafting or a three-needle bind-off. A few more short rows are added to the back to lengthen the garment and the crotch further. Finally, the legs are worked individually in the round, and completed with a short ruffle and contrasting picot bind-off. IMPORTANT: Do not hold the yarn too tightly or you’ll negate all the built in elasticity. It’s fine to have a little tension on the yarn, but be sure you aren’t knitting so that the yarn is completely taut. When you complete your swatch and get gauge, your fabric should still have plenty of stretch. If it doesn’t, try relaxing a little or don’t wrap the yarn so tightly around your finger for tension.

Elegant, versatile and lightweight, Otter’s Wake Wrap will easily fit into a suitcase or tote bag, ready to warm your shoulders or neck in any season. “Otter’s Wake”: The repeating V’s of the eyelet pattern remind me of the ripples formed by otters as they swim in a determinedly straight line towards the shore of the beach in front of my house. The wrap is a long rectangle, and can be worn as a scarf. The stitch pattern is rhythmic and intuitive. The V’s flow from edge to edge, from cast-on to bind-off, without interruption. The original piece was made in Holst Garn Coast. Any fingering weight yarn could be substituted, or even a heavier yarn worked on larger needles to make a very substantial wrap. The lace pattern is given in written form only; no chart. Apologies re: the pattern update sent 2018/03/19.
