An age-appropriate assessment tool! The following is a checklist designed for use by preschool teachers who have children moving to Kindergarten. This checklist can supplement report cards and student portfolios or be used to give parents goals to work on at home. The checklist can also be used to create individualized goals and lessons for children in your care. I use this checklist at the beginning, middle and end of the school year to to supplement work sampling reports which are given to parents for parent-teacher conferences. Kindergarten teachers could send this to their new students over the summer so that parents have an idea of what to expect in Kindergarten or use it to pre-assess incoming students at the start of the school year. This checklist covers the following domains:Self-help skills, academic skills, social-emotional skills and fine/gross motor skills.
