Help your primary grade students explore, learn, and write about landforms. See our hands-on landforms activities plus our culminating writing project!
I've taught this lesson twice now with two different sets of fourth graders. I was amazed at how differently each group pursued this task. I had each write original legends. The first group made maps to illustrate their already completed short stories. This year's group used the maps to continue plotting their stories. Once they had the places drawn on their maps, it caused them to revise their legends in a more logical way. Stop by Artistry of Education to download two versions of this map key.

I love this activity, and it's one of my best sellers! This cut and sort activity is great for all ages, and can be done individually or as a group. I typically completed this activity with my second graders after a read aloud at the beginning of the year (such as "Do Unto Otters" by Laurie Keller). It's such a great activity to build classroom community, and even build cut and paste skills! It's a great activity to encourage being a good citizen during Social Studies, also! While I mentioned second grade, I've had other grade levels purchase and use this item also. It's never too early (or too late!!) to review and discuss being a good citizen! :) Simply download and print!

There are some social studies activities (of course), some ELA (abc order, vocabulary, antonyms, written expression), some math, and a couple of craft connections. 54321 Grounding Technique/Strategy: As many of us know, many students struggle to regulate their feelings appropriately. This strategy is called the 54321 Grounding Technique. I made a poster to display in my classroom - in areas of our room where students can calm down. This technique may not work for all students, but it's one that they can carry with them in their "life toolbox," to use when needed! (It's also great for adults! Because we all know we could use a strategy to calm down at times!) This is a calming technique that takes students through their senses. The purpose is to help them through a tough, or stressful situation. Sometimes we all just need a little reminder to help us calm down, especially kids. Product Includes: Colored Versions (Framed & Mini 1/4 Copies) Black & White Versions (Framed & Mini 1/4 Copies) Thank You! ❤️ I really appreciate your interest in my product! I love to create new things for my students! As I'm working hard to continue to grow my TPT store and business, it would mean so much to me if you left a kind review and rating after purchasing a product (or freebie!) If you have any questions about this resource, you're welcome to reach out! ⭐️ Follow Me to get updates on new products and freebies coming soon!! ⭐️
