End the Battle of the Creeping Joint - Clamp Miter Joints Accurately and Effectively. Clamping miter joints with bar clamps usually ends up as a frustrating tug-of-war…putting too much pressure on one clamp, causing the joint to slip out of alignment, only to repeat the mistake on the opposing corner. There are specialized clamps out there for the job, but they limit the width of your stock, and if your shop is like mine, they’re always an eighth of an inch too small.
UPDATE: Optional 50" Capacity Extended Rails can now be added to your ClampZILLA!Woodworkers have been trying different ways to keep boards flat while gluing panels since glue was invented. Most clamps introduce a bow in the panel because they are clamping from one side (the one with the bar). Even the best designs pull a certain amount and most could be used to make boomerangs. Savvy woodworkers try to overcome this by alternating clamps top and bottom, but getting the pressure perfectly even never happens. Woodpeckers newest OneTIME Tool, the ClampZILLA 4-Way Panel Clamp, places a bar on both sides of your stock with centering devices that direct the pressure to the exact center of your stock. Not only does ClampZILLA focus the lateral pressure on the center of your panel, it also puts vertical pressure on the boards, helping to hold them in alignment to each other.

Hi there everyone. Welcome to another edition of Friday Focus, our weekly spotlight on a product or range. This week it's the turn of stencils, one of the most versatile crafting tools we can own. And because they are the centre of attention you'll find a 15% discount on the wide range of competitively priced individual stencils at The Funkie Junkie Boutique this coming week (note - does not apply to pre-orders or stencil bundles). A noticeable trend in the crafting world at the moment is the ongoing quest to find alternative ways of using existing products. As I'm sure many of you are familiar with using your inks and sprays through stencils it seemed appropriate to tackle a twist on texture paste. Maybe it's down to the legacy of all those Hugenot silk weaving ancestors in my family history that I have a passion for old fabrics, and damask in particular. So how can this be replicated with paper, ink and paste? Start with Coredinations Kraft Core and part of a technique from the talented Tim Holtz. Spray the kraft side with Ink Refresher and rub it into the card until fully absorbed. The idea is the fibres in the card will absorb it and become more flexible, making it easier to scrunch up and giving it the appearance of suede. When dry turn it over to the non-kraft side and sand lightly to reveal those wrinkles. Add a layer of white texture paste through a patterned stencil onto the non-kraft side of the card. Using a small soft brush, sprinkle Perfect Pearls Pigment Powders onto random areas of the wet paste, working from light to dark colours. Lightly mist the area with ink spray in a coordinating colour (I made mine with some Distress Ink Reinker). This adds a little colour to the paste and 'fixes' the Pigment Powders. Carefully remove the stencil (don't clean it yet) and gently set the patterned card to one side so it can dry. Flip the stencil over onto a blank tag, rolling a brayer over the stencil to transfer the remaining paste, powders and ink onto the tag. When you lift the stencil this is what you will be left with. Now you can clean that stencil!! Time to see what I did with that original piece of stencilled kraft card... To fulfil a special card order and keep this elegant I decided to keep it simple when putting this together. Linda stocks the most fabulous straight edged doily paper rolls which, if applied to card and covered in Picket Fence Distress Paint and Antique Linen Distress Stain, give the look of aged plasterwork. Use the same Distress Stain on some seam binding to cover the join between the two textured pieces. You can see from this photo how the Pigment Powders add a subtle shimmer to the surface of the paste. Compliment this with your choice of matting and layering card. The sanded wrinkles in the kraft card also make a huge difference (it really doesn't look as vintage without them). Simple vellum leaf stems, Distress Glitter blooms with pearl centres and a Simple Saying completed the card. As an alternative you could choose some of the fabulous Prima embellishments or some rhinestone glamour, both available in The Funkie Junkie Boutique. I promise to show you what became of that 'mop up' tag in the not too distant future. In the meantime don't forget that 15% discount on the wide range of competitively priced stencils at The Funkie Junkie Boutique this coming week (note - does not apply to pre-orders or stencil bundles). And if you do give this a go why not enter it for our current challenge, 'Stencils and texture'! Have a fabulous weekend. More videos are available in the Video tab below. There are those among us who can pick up a drill, place it on a workpiece and drill a straight hole. Then, there are the remaining 99.9% of us. A drill press solves the problem…as long as the piece you want to drill fits. But if you’re not one of the 0.1% and you want a straight hole in the middle of a large piece of plywood, or in an installed cabinet, or in anything you can’t get to your drill press (or you don’t have a drill press), you want to keep reading. Introducing Woodpeckers Auto-Line Drill Guide. This new tool keeps your drill bit perfectly perpendicular while you drill, but it goes further. We added a versatile base and fence system that makes it simple to keep your hole locations right on target. Not recommended to be used with an impact driver.

Never before have you experienced an easier system for controlling the dust from handheld power tools. This kit offers all the features of our well-loved FlexiPort system, plus the Click-Connect feature for fast, easy switching of a single hose between multiple tools! Leave the included rubber Click-Connect FlexiPorts on your tools and switch the hose from port to port with a secure ''click.'' The kit includes four FlexiPorts of varying diameters, plus the Click-Connect Hose Adapter, which threads into the included Expandable Hose (now in blue). The blue hose is lighter in weight than the older black hose, for less tendency to pull on your tools. Three of the four FlexiPorts have a clasp that you can ratchet down for a secure connection to the tool. Finally, a vent collar lets you adjust the suction level—perfect for reducing swirl marks when orbital sanding. Details: Click-Connect hose adapter and ports make it easy to move hose from tool to tool, leaving ports on the tools Squeeze the side tabs on the hose adapter to release; just push to click in Rubber FlexiPorts flex to fit dust outlets on a wide range of handheld power tools Includes four swiveling FlexiPorts: 3/4'' ID x 1-1/4'' OD, 1'' ID, 1-1/4'' ID and 1-1⁄2'' ID Three largest ports have cinching plastic clamps to ensure a tight connection FlexiPorts swivel to prevent tangling and have a molded elbow to help keep the hose off your work Expandable Hose (now in blue) has been improved with reduced weight for less pulling on your tools Stretch hose expands 4x its length to 12' for a large working radius Hose collapses down to just 3' for compact storage on top of your shop vacuum Click-Connect Hose Adapter features vent ring for regulating suction and hose tension 2-1/4'' OD swiveling port attaches to standard shop vacuums, and the Dust Right® Dust Separator (#45556, sold separately) Both hose fittings reverse thread into the hose for a secure, leak-free connection Additional individual ports available separately to outfit all your tools Benefits of the Click-Connect Feature: If your handheld power tools range widely in size and shape, the Click-Connect system will be a welcome feature. FlexiPorts that are particularly hard to fit over the tool's dust port can be installed once and left for good. FlexiPorts that are on the looser side can be secured with the clasps and, again, left for good. You'll also be able to control suction with the vent collar. Additional Click-Connect FlexiPorts are available individually for outfitting additional tools with different port sizes. Note: The Click-Connect Hose Adapter in this kit is compatible with the 3' to 12' Expandable Hose only (both the older black version and the included blue version). Tip for Disconnection: The Click-Connect Hose Adapter is designed to switch from port to port while also ensuring that it doesn't disconnect unintentionally. To disconnect, press both side tabs at the same time and pull back on the adapter, moving it from side to side if necessary.

This resource has FIVE Short e CVC Words Color By Code Worksheets for your class. If you are looking for a resource for phonics remediation while still giving your students some confidence by reviewing important literacy skills, you will love this series. This FIVE Short e CVC Words Color By Code Worksheet Resource focuses only on a FEW Short e CVC Words per page. What are CVC Words? CVC words are basic, three-letter words that begin with a consonant, have a middle letter with a short vowel sound, and end with a consonant. Short e CVC Words Color By Code Worksheet Resource Lesson Plan Ideas: Monday - Project page 1, short e words, Ben, bed, beg, bet, den, and fed, to introduce Color By Code to your class with a step by step direct teacher-led lesson on the overhead document camera. I start by showing the students line by line what color is the answer to what word. So for example, "bat = orange" I color the entire "bat =orange" with an orange crayon. Once your students know your procedures, the remaining pages can be used by your students independently. An alternative, based on the ability level of your class, is that this teacher-led lesson can also be completed during your reading small group lesson on Monday. Tuesday - Use page 2, short e words, gem, get, gel, hen, hem, and jet, during morning work, reading seat work, reading centers or small group time. Wednesday - Use page 3, short e words, Ken, keg, led, leg, let, and men, during morning work, reading seat work, reading centers or small group time. Thursday - Use page 4, short e words, met, net, pen, peg, pet, and red, during morning work, reading seat work, reading centers or small group time. Friday - Use page 5, short e words, set, ten, Ted, vet, yet, and wet, during morning work, reading seat work, reading centers or small group time. For a "Fun Friday" let your students use markers, pastels, colored pencils, or watercolor paints today. It may not be perfect, it may be a little messy, but after five days you will have a great understanding and enough documentation to know if your students know their long vowels. >>> Terrific for an Emergency Sub Tub or Homework! *** Terrific Teacher Feedback *** Sarah Lemieux said, "My kids LOVE these!" This year, I've been traveling across the USA, Canada and the UK teaching workshops with a new watercolor medium called Color Burst! I am so happy that it's a product that's easy to use and that everybody likes it. For the most part, I've been teaching watercolor technique classes... So, today I wanted to take a few minutes to show you some projects using the techniques I teach in my workshops. I've created a few handmade watercolor cards to illustrate the techniques. These are simple cards, without a lot of embellishments or sentiments. I prefer "blank" cards, a handwritten note is much more personal. If you've taken a class with me, no doubt, you'll recognize some of the techniques. To get started, I whipped up some stitched card bases by sewing pieces of canvas, burlap, Kraft*Tex and watercolor paper to kraft paper cardstock. This cardbase is simple, and conveys an authentic "handmade" look. This first technique is easy, a stamped image, colored with Color Burst, and a simple watercolor landscape painted behind it. The landscape doesn't have to be overly complicated. It's basically a few blobs of paint blended with water. Since it's the background, it doesn't have to be perfectly in focus and overladen with details. If you've taken my workshops, you have all the "tools" to do this. This next technique is really dramatic...it's a watercolor resist created with Versamark ink and white embossing powder. Simply stamp, and emboss with a heat tool, then randomly wash a Color Burst (I used Indigo and Ultrmarine Blue) background over the embossed area. The water and Color Burst won't stick to the embossed stamped area. It's simple and elegant. When you give this handmade watercolor note card to someone, they will think you're an accomplished watercolor painter. I've taught this little watercolor painting about 1,000 times this summer, it's wet on wet watercolor painting. The trick to this is making sure that your paper is wet enough to let the Color Burst blend easily, but not wet enough that the pigment bloom. Who wouldn't love to receive a tiny painting on a note card? This little painting only takes about 10 minutes to paint. It's very artsy...let the paint and the water do the blending work for you. The paint will always "find the edge" of the water. The next two cards could not be any easier, simply stamp an image on watercolor paper with permanent ink, then "color" with Color Burst. Coloring for adults is so popular now, take your coloring to your cards. You'll get the same "therapeutic" benifit, and make some lovely cards in the process. For me, simple is best, don't worry about adding a lot of embellishment to this type of card. Let the color and the stamped image stand front and center. I've even slipped in a Christmas card, I am not pushing the season, but it never hurts to get an early start. And, again, simple is best...I used 2 colors, Terre Verte Green and Alizarin Crimson; I used muddy water for the shadows. I hope you're inspired to create some watercolor cards...the techniques are simple and the "handmade" look is very elegant. When you give these cards to friends, they'll think you're a master watercolor painter, and you should not tell them any differently. Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend. If you create some watercolor cards, I'd love to see them, post them on Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest, and make sure to tag @kenolivercrafts so I'll see them. until next time, Ken

You'll find it easier than ever to clamp edge moldings of almost any contour with our clever new Bandy Clamp™ edge clamps. The Bandy Clamp combines the easy one-handed operation of a spring clamp with the even pressure and non-denting qualities of a super-tough rubber band. Just open the clamp and stretch the band over your edging material—the deeper you set it, the tighter the pressure. Once the Bandy Clamp is in place, its jumbo ultra-grippy clamp pads simply will not slip, allowing all the clamping force to be transferred into the material. Whether you are a professional cabinetmaker or a weekend do-it-yourselfer you will immediately appreciate the great features the Kreg® DB210 Foreman Electric Pocket-Hole Machine has to offer. Plus, the new Foreman is the first Kreg pocket-hole machine that can create all three types of Kreg joints: standard 3/8", Micro Pocket™, and 1/2" HD. The Foreman comes with a 3/8" step-drill bit and hardened guide, while the accessory Micro Pocket and HD bits and guides are sold separately. The standard clear 1-5/8" diameter lenses are German-safety shatterproof, laminated glass (7/64" thick). Accessory glass lenses are gray (UV protection sunglasses) and real level-5 Welder's lenses (these however, are not laminated safety glass). These Goggles with aluminum frames are extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods as the middle flexible strap hinge allows them to fit almost any face and the cushioned leather padding fits the face snugly. They are several steps up from the typically available plastic protection and are really exceptionally neat, we think.
