This painting is another in a series of repeated paintings that I have done about Muslim women in our different forms of hijab.
Inspired by the words of Muslim American and Palestinian American activist, Linda Sarsour, this painting captures my Muslim American identity. In these days of prejudice and bigotry, we have to be "unapologetically Muslim."
The name of our prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) adorned in gold on a royal blue background.
I’m still touched by the diversity of the Islamic global community and that idea developed into this piece. I decided to create a montage of women in different headscarves and different complexions. I have depicted Muslim women wearing turbans, Turkish hijabs, “traditional” hijabs, stylish wraps, niqabs (face veils), and no hijab. I want to show the audience our beauty and also our diversity in terms of how we outwardly reflect our faith. The mainstream image of Muslim women is quite one-dimensional and I think this piece can offer the viewer an alternative to the current monolithic stereotype.
18 x 24 inches acrylic and fabric paint on canvas Another painting from the "Women in.." series, done in purples, magentas and lavenders. Here are the ladies wearing hijabs, turbans, and scarves.
My painting is a visual representation of an America in all its multicultural, diverse beauty! I envision a future where Americans of different races and cultures interact and collaborate with one another. Presently, our society is segregated among racial and socioeconomic lines. Muslim Americans are not immune to this reality as these divisions are present within our worship spaces. To combat racism in America, Muslim Americans must begin by breaking down the prejudices in our hearts. My piece depicts a society where everyone’s individual and cultural self-expression is honored and respected.
This is small painting (8 x 11 inches) on canvas board.

Inspired by the words of Arab American activist Linda Sarsour, this painting captures my Muslim American identity. In these days of prejudice and bigotry, we have to be "unapologetically Muslim." The mixture of the American flag and the hijab bring together two seemingly opposed images in order to assert Muslim American identity.
The painting is the second in a series of similar paintings featuring the different coverings and dress of Muslim women. I decided to stick with neutral tones for this work. And while the colors of more subdued than my usual palettes, the work is still pretty bold. I have two other paintings done with the same stenciled models. The first one is done with Black and the third one is in gold. This work measures 18 x 24 inches.
This painting is a work highlighting the fashion of Muslim men. I don't have many works about men, but this piece was fun to do. I hope to do more. ;-) The artwork takes a look at the dress of Muslim men around the world. I usually focus on women in my work, but I've decided to shift my gaze to men for this piece. I may continue to do more artwork about men. Muslim men and their clothing is never an issue of controversy or contention. But I liked exploring the issues around Muslim men and modesty.

High quality poster print on a 264 gsm fine art paper using custom-developed, archival, acid free pigment inks. Designed for indoor use. Here is the first painting that I did celebrating the fashions and attire of Muslim American women during the Eid prayer.
This painting is inspired by a photograph taken at a friend's wedding. It was a simple silhouette of the bride and her groom gently gracing her hand with a kiss. It was such a sweet and romantic image. I thought about how the words "Muslim" and "romance" aren't usually put together in the mainstream American media. So this loving image me inspired me to focus on the compassion, love and beauty that emanates from a newly married Muslim couple.

This 18 x 24-inch poster is based on the original painting. It is a mixed-media tribute to the second holiest city in Islam, Madina, Saudi Arabia. The name of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is repeated throughout the work, along with the iconic green dome of Masjid an Nabawi.
A celebration of Islam in America, supported by my personal slogan. "We Been Here." I created some domes, emblazoned by stars and stripes in red, white, and blue.
