KONON Kerajaan Majapahit memiliki pasukan elite bernama Bhayangkara yang bertugas mengamankan raja. Pasukan Bhayangkara ini yang akhirnya menyelamatkan Jayanagara dari pemberontakan oleh Ra Kuti. Kata Bhayangkara sendiri muncul dari bahasa Jawa yang digunakan di era Majapahit. Sri Wintala Achmad pada bukunya "Hitam Putih Mahapatih Gajah Mada", menyatakan Bhayangkara terdiri dari dua kata yakni bhaya dan ahangkara. Kata "Bhaya" bermakna bahaya, berbahaya, atau menakutkan. Adapun "ahangkara" bermakna aku atau kami. Dengan demikian, Bhayangkara memiliki pengertian aku atau kami yang menakutkan atau berbahaya. Pasukan Bhayangkara ini identik dengan Gajah Mada. Gajah Mada pulalah yang mengawali kariernya di istana Majapahit melalui dedikasinya di pasukan Bhayangkara. Melalui pasukan Bhayangkara inilah, pengabdian dan prestasi Gajah Mada dibangun untuk menjaga raja dan kerajaan Majapahit. Serat Pararaton menyebutkan bahwa Mada mengiringi Raja Jayanegara untuk mengungsi ke Desa Badander ketika istana diserang oleh Ra Kuti dan kawan - kawannya. Hal yang sangat menarik ialah ketika Jayanagara dibunuh oleh tabib Ra Tanca, Gajah Mada diduga mengatur pembunuhan itu. Menurut beberapa sumber bahwa Gajah Mada membunuh Jayanagara melalui Ra Tanca karena kelakuan raja Majapahit tersebut telah melanggar perundang-undangan kerajaan yakni menggauli istri orang. Perbuatan Jayanagara tersebut merupakan perbuatan nista karena menurut kitab Kutaramanawardharmasastra bahwa hukuman bagi siapa saja yang mengganggu perempuan bersuami amatlah berat. I snd
