This chawan (tea bowl) features a black semi-gloss glaze reminiscent of the Kuro Raku Chawans created by Chojiro. These tea bowls were also known as the favorites of Sen no Rikyu, the founder of the Japanese tea ceremony. Rikyu cherished this particular type of tea bowl, keeping it close like a child held dear to the heart, hence they were named Kamuro, meaning "child." This tea bowl is ideal for Sadō (the Japanese way of tea) or for bringing a sense of inner tranquility to daily tea preparation. Its pleasing curves and weight make it delightful to hold while enjoying freshly whisked matcha or hojicha. It stands 3 inches tall, spans 4.25 inches in width, and holds up to 12 fluid ounces.
