The Monthly Log, as Ryder presents it, is where you can map out specific events as well as write down the things you’d like to do over the course of the month. Additionally, the Monthly Log also serves as a way to log notable snippets that happened. This way you can get a bird’s eye view of what happened during the month. Over time, Bullet Journalists have modified the Monthly Log to make it work for them. This has led to a medley of variations. Here is a curated selection of...
As the planner season thickens, we are receiving a lot of questions reg. the differences between Jibun Techo Regular vs. Jibun Techo Biz paper quality. We asked Eunice to break down what makes each of them unique in their writing qualities as well as rubber stamp application. I hope you enjoy reading her thorough analysis! -wakako As we edge closer to the end of this year, many of us in the analogue community are already dreaming of our system(s) for the approaching 2019 year! One planner known as the Jibun Techo, in particular, is making its way into the hearts of many planner enthusiasts. Believe it or not, one of the top criteria users think about when selecting a planner is the paper quality and the way it behaves with their beloved analogue tools. We often see our BK customers running their hands along the pages envisioning what it might feel like as their pen glides along the smooth surface of the different paper textures. Others who find joy in adding visual inspiration such as stamps wonder if rubber stamp ink will hold as well as they imagined. There are two variations of the Jibun Techo systems available in A5 Slim and B6 Slim: 1. The Jibun Techo REGULAR consists of a fun color palette composed of lightweight Tomoe river paper enclosed in a frosted clear cover with a white background. Tomoe river paper is lightweight, highly resistant to feathering and bleed through, and the overall weight and slim construction appeal to many. 2. The Jibun Techo BIZ features a professional monochromatic Kokuyo Mio paper which is also feather and bleed through resistant but in addition; is archival safe and PH neutral. This is an added bonus for those who want to ensure their documentation will be long lasting. The Biz comes enclosed with a sleek black cover perfect for any professional environment. Shown (L-R) Jibun Techo b6 slim Regular, Jibun Techo BIZ a5 slim Jibun Techo Regular / Tomoe River Paper Jibun Techo BIZ / Kokuyo Mio Paper For something a bit more personal and fun, you can swap out the plastic covers for the following: 1. Baum-Kuchen x TSL Jibun Cover : available in both A5 Slim or B6 Slim with canvas or all leather options. 2. Roterfaden cover : available in A5 slim (light brown or dark brown). Users can expect a pleasurable writing experience from both planners but we will discuss and compare visually how one could expect the most commonly used pens, inks, and stamps to behave between the two paper options that are available. 1. Fountain Pen Ink Many gravitate towards fountain pens for the way the nib seems to glide onto paper in such an effortless manner expelling beautiful wet ink. Both the Regular Jibun and the Jibun Biz had no issues taking the Lamy Fountain Pen ink paired with the Lamy safari. There was no feathering, bleed through, or ghosting with zero to minimal (seconds) drying time. With wetter ink brands such as J. Herbin, you can anticipate a slightly longer drying time with the same benefits. Fountain pen lovers rejoice! Both paper versions work amazingly well paired with your favorite fountain pen! 2. Gel Pen Gel Pens or hybrid variations of gel pens are the most commonly used for those who love a reliable and smooth writing tool for everyday use. We gathered some common favorites (Zebra Sarasa, Hi-tec-c, Uni-Ball Signo) and to no surprise, it was a match made in planner heaven. All of the inks wrote beautifully on the papers with quick drying time. Both versions displayed exceptional pen behavior with no feathering, bleed through, and very little to no ghosting. 3. Pencil For those who love to
Today I’m going to be comparing all the “best” gel pens to see which is truly the best for your bullet journal. For most of my bullet journal’s life, I’ve only used fineliners when I needed to write in black which works great! But sometimes you want to write a lot at once and you want a quick and smooth writing experience, which is what gel pens are perfect for. So I started branching out and trying different brands to see what I like best. I’m going to compare drying time, the feel/smoothness, and the look of the gel pens. To keep the test consistent and fair, I’m only testing the black version of each pen. Of course everyone has different opinions on what makes the perfect pen, so my conclusion might be different than […]

Don't you hate those ginormous journals that have stuff just pouring outta them and every paper starts to get folded and tattered because the journal won't shut??? Well, I have a solution.... and sound like I am on an infomercial!! I have had some questions in the past about closing the journals. I wrote about it, but pictures make it so much easier to understand:) You will need: You can also buy them at Walmart. I bought this bag at Walmart for a little over $5.00, used 80 of them and we hardly put a dent in this bad boy. Also needed: Handy-dandy hole punch. You can see how enormous the rubber bands are here. Step 1: Punch hole in the back top outside corner. I didn't do it on the bottom so kids would be less tempted to play with it. Step 2: Put the rubber band through the hole like this: Step 3: Take the large loop and go through the small loop like this: Step 4: Pull the longer loop tight: TA-DA!!!!! Now you can close that journal that is overflowing with knowledge and foldables!!!!! Quick reminder: Don't forget to enter my GIVE AWAY!!! Just click on the word Give Away and you will go to my link. I am soooo close to 100 and would love to give away the bracelet and pen with 100 followers!! Thanks for reading and supporting!! :)

In the past year we have both introduced the Math Journal into our Guided Math program. This has been a great and innovative way for students to communicate their math knowledge. However, we both found the same thing; the students were only using a small part of the page, and we felt most of the journal was going to waste. So we decided we wanted to find a way to cut the journals in half! We made a few phone calls, and got a lot of laughs on the other end. Most of the big hardware stores told us no over the phone. We called a printing store and they would do it, but charge $1.50 a cut. Feeling discouraged, we went to the stores in person, composition notebooks in hand. Our logic was that it would be much harder to turn down a teacher in person. (I mean it is all in the name of education right!?!?) We were finally successful at one of the big hardware chain stores. Ta-Da! One notebook becomes two! Each child now has a manageable sized notebook. Our cart full! We could not thank them enough! While we were there we stopped by the paint department. The employees were kind enough to donate each of us a class set of paint stirrers. We use these as individual shelf markers for the students in our classroom libraries. The kids decorate them with markers and love using them, and our books stay organized! All-in-all a successful trip!
