Each page has 3 sections. Kids will circle which set of images has more, fewer, the most or the fewest. I made this to support Math In Focus Kindergarten Chapter 9 (Comparing Sets), and I use it for my math centers and morning work. Let me know in your feedback how you were able to use this resource! Page 3-7: circle more Page 8-11: circle most Page 12-16: circle fewer Page 17-20: circle fewest (pages 12-20 are duplicates of pages 3-11. The images are the same, with the words "more/fewer" and "the most/the fewest" switched) Enjoy! Josh Tubbs

Are there any kiddos in your class with a fixed math mindset? Do they give up or refuse to attempt to solve a math problem if they're afraid they will get a wrong answer? Are they reluctant to take on challenges and refuse to take a risk if they aren't sure they're right? Or do they say they're just not "good" at math? I have taught so many kids like this and it is frustrating to say the least. If you look back at their grades, you might discover many of these students made all A's in math in the primary grades. But, by the time they hit the intermediate grades their math grades plummeted. They had never developed a mathematical mindset.
OK. I was mildly obsessed over meeting Mr Slope Guy for the first time. I was observing two novice teachers, and they were using Mr Slope Guy as a mnemonic for students in analyzing slope. But I think he could be fated for bigger and better adventures. Since my son Xavier is a budding comic book artist, we put together the following (PDF of the whole comic), with some inking support from Ysabela. The problem was whether MSG was a hero or villain, and he wound up needing to be defeated. He is a personification of algebra. Be interested in your feedback. Only one more thing to say: Marvel, please don't sue! Spider-man is a wholly owned trademark of Marvel, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and starring in a major motion picture this summer.

Are you working on growing your students' addition and subtraction fluency? One of the most effective and efficient ways of assuring basic facts mastery is to have a system of daily timed assessments that students progress through. Upon mastering one family of facts, they move on to the next. This packet includes 10 addition and 10 subtraction assessments, grouped by strategy. The first 9 assessments are 24 problems, intended to be completed in one minute. 100% accuracy must be achieved in one minute in order to move on to the next assessment. Each assessment is a half-page. The final assessment for addition and for subtraction is a review consisting of 100 problems. Students are allowed five minutes to complete it, and can pass it off with 95% accuracy. Practice pages are included which correspond to each group of facts. Each one is a full page of 100 facts, and great for homework or independent practice. Along with the timed assessments and practice pages, I have included a record-keeping chart so you can easily track student progress. I am incorporating many of the amazing ideas that I have come across on Pinterest and this is one of them. It's a missing assignment form, which you have students turn in when they do not have an assignment. I thought it would make it much easier to keep track of those who did not do something versus those who are absent. So here it is!
