Something I have always thought was very important is female empowerment. I have two young daughters and my husband and I have worked hard to show them that they are strong and can do anything they want to do. One show that really reinforces this is She-Ra and the Princesses of Power from DreamWorks Animation on Netflix. It is They both fell in love with it from the moment we started watching it. This show is so great for young girls because they see that females can be the heroes. I decided to put together a party to celebrate International Women's Day (March 8th) for my girls and a few of their friends. Of course our theme centered around She-Ra and the other Princesses.

This exciting International Women's Day Word Search & Double Puzzle is a great morning work for March 8th when the world joins hands together to support, raise, inspire and motivate women across all fields of work. The first national Woman's Day was held across the United States on February 28, 1909. Charlotte Perkins Gilman addressed a crowd in New York City, proclaiming: "It is true that a woman's duty is centered in her home and motherhood but home should mean the whole country and not be confined to three or four rooms of a city or a state." The word search features twenty Hispanic women who succeeded in politics, sports, science, and literature. Great way to learn the names of some of the greatest women in history. The lesson includes a brief narrative about the different accomplishment of each famous woman. Have students read and translate this page. The lesson also includes both a double puzzle and an additional word search in professions where women have made significant contributions.
