I just returned home from the most incredible trip in Italy and I can’t wait to share all about it with you!! From the places we ate, shopped, and spend laying in the sun along the Mediterranean Sea I was absolutely mind blown and astonished by the breath taking views, colourful buildings and architecture, and of course all the beautiful delicious food! I have put together a guide for you with some of my MUST visits for when you take a trip along the Amalfi Coast line, my favourite spots, shopping and of course places to eat! We spent most of our time in Positano and it was so perfect, also checking out Amalfi and the famous Italian Island of Capri! These are all towns that are located along the Amalfi Coast line, each with their own unique vibe and attraction! POSITANO We spent 5 nights in Positano and I am so glad this was our home base along the beautiful Amalfi Coast! I’ll tell you why… Positano is by far, in my opinion, the most beautiful and unique town out of them all! It’s so charming and vibrant! I loved how the town is build all throughout a jagged mountainside, making the views incomparable to else where! It’s picturesque layout is absolutely iconic ! The village and walkways are absolutely enchanting, with views that look out at the dazzling waterfront! Positano is full of tiny winding roads that loop around the town, it’s what makes it so unique and different than the rest! The main road runs right through the main village, full of Vespas, taxis, tourists, and sometimes large buses! I called it beautiful chaos! The Amalfi coats has definitely become a hot spot over the last couple of years, becoming everyones dreamy summer vacay. I would say though that Positano was the least filled with wondering tourists and seemed to not have as many people as Amalfi or Capri! It was definitely the most peaceful and secluded spot along the Amalfi coast line in terms of still being very popular! There was little to no wait times at most of the restaurants, and had much more of a peaceful and local vibe which I absolutely loved! Let’s get into everything I did, the places to go, where to eat, and my favourite spots and secrets in Positano! ARRIVAL We flew into Naples, one of the main airports in this area! It is the most common way to make your way to the Amalfi Coast line! We had it organized for a private car service to pick us up from the Airport and drive us to our AirBnb in Positano! It was about an hour drive! I highly highly recommend doing this! Especially after a long travel day the last thing you want to have to do is figure out your way around with a taxi or bus and have to wait for this! This made our arrival 100000x better! I wouldn’t recommend doing it any other way! It’s also important to note that because the town of Positano is basically carved out on a hillside cliff, there are a TON of stairs whenever you go. To get back up and down by foot you will be walking up a hill no matter what! You definitely don’t want to be stuck carrying your baggage up there stairs! It much easier to have a car service drop you off right at your stay! GETTING AROUND POSITANO I wouldn’t recommend renting a car for your visit unless you have that all planned out with parking etc. There is little to no parking when it comes to your stay and it’s probably the least cost effective. The town itself is actually quite small, and you will be walking pretty much everywhere, there are no roads that take you down to the waterfront and back up! Be prepared for lots of walking and stairs both up and down, Positano is very hilly! Remember thats it’s basically built into the side of a cliff! There is a taxi surface located in the centre of the village but its always going to be a minimum of €30 each time! As well as a bus that goes around Positano, we never took this but it always seemed to have a wait of people and seemed very useful to get around! Vespa’s are the main way locals and many tourists get around if they decide to rent them! We didn’t rent one but it’s definitely on the bucket list for next time! There are also ferry’s that run daily along the coastline that can take you to different towns if your in the mood for a day trip, we did do this and I’ll get into more of that below! WHERE TO STAY There are a ton of adorable and stunning Italian AirBnbs in Positano to choose from if thats what your looking for but there are also some gorgeous hotels as well. It just depends what your looking for! If you’re going the AirBnb route it’s definitely worth it to get one with a beautiful terrace and a stunning view so make sure to look at that! Ours was absolutely stunning, and it made the whole trip! Each morning waking up felt like a dream! I would also always check where its located because the higher up you are, the longer hike up a ton of stairs you have to get back up every time you go explore the town and beach front! Next time I visit Positano I have dreams to stay at Le Sirenuse or Il San Pietro. They’re definitely a splurge but it’s going to be so worth it! Le Sirenuse has such an incredible location in town and it looked absolutely stunning… just so romantic! Il San Pietro is basically it’s own private getaway located on the side of a cliff, with its own private beach, tennis court and restaurants!
