I just bought a new journal to work in and decided to dedicate it to Teesha Moore inspired collages. It is a Strathmore 9" X 12" Mixed Media Visual Journal with 140 lb. vellum finish paper and is larger than any of my other journals. It will be perfect for collaging! I really had fun making these two journal pages and can't wait to make more! The process of selecting the papers to use in the college really appeals to my creative design sensibilities. A little known fact about me is that I have always had a desire to be an interior designer...I love to mix patterns, textures and colors. The second most fun thing that I like to do is drawing patterns and textures... making lots of tiny dots, drawing flourishes, shading with pencils and I can't forget the lettering.... I was a graphic artist once and could probably letter in my sleep! I guess when you put all of this together you can see why Teesha's style of collage really appeals to me. It is a mix of everything that I love to do! I hope that you enjoy my latest creations! I will walk you through the process in my next post and share many tips that I leaned from Teesha in her on-line class "Mermaid Circus." Teesha has graciously given her permission to share her journaling techniques. She states that "it has always been my goal to get as many folks as I can on-board with journaling. Hello to you all, I have been working on a Fabric journal for the past 3 days and finally finished it this morning. I found a you tube video by Teesha Moore showing how to make these wonderful fabric journals and was hooked straight away. Basically you have to make all these little stuffed pillows and then you quilt them individually, embellish them and then sew them together to make the cover of your journal. Here are my pillows to start with and my fabric print of one of my collage dogs. I had so much fun with this project and would definitely do it again, but next time I would allow myself more time...maybe. I am already thinking of making one ready for the mermaid circus which I have joined which is starting next week! I had a bit of trouble trying to hide my binding threads from the outside, but I just gave up in the end. Next time I'll cover the spine with the rug hooking bits of thread and fancy wool like Teesha did to cover up the mess. Here are some close up's of my decorated patches. It's taken me months but for whatever reason I finally got the motivation and energy to plug away on figuring out my logo. It's a bit simple but with a little personality I think =) Here's the stamp I made. I am in progress on a banner for this little blog which I'd love to hear opinions on!! Here's the 3 options I made this morning. Let me know what you think please!? I threw together a bunch of my most regularly used craft materials - junk n' whimsies, embroidery supplies, buttons, and scissors! The other banner is a close-up on a pile of finished Teesha Moore style panels that I've been working on faithfully. I thought it would be fun to include a quick snapshot of the entire pile of finished panels too haha Ok back to work for me!
This week's tutorial try-out was: Teesha Moore's Fun Drawing Lesson If you have ever stopped by Teesha Moore's blog, then you know that she is wildly creative and a powerhouse of inspiration! When I stumbled upon her fun drawing worksheet, I knew I'd have to give it a try... A page from my sketchbook. One of the questions I am most often asked is, "What in the world were you thinking?" "Where do you get your ideas?". So, I thought it might be fun to give you a step-by-step look into what was going through my head as I played with Teesha's drawing worksheet in my sketchbook... 1. Actually, not a whole lot was going through my head at this point... I just thought she looked like she needed a bird's nest on her head. 2. The bird's nest made me think of cats (hungry for birds, of course), and I thought that this drawing style would probably be pretty cool for a cat face. 3. I started thinking about other things cats eat, but at the same time I was thinking about my crazy haired ladies and how this technique might translate into one of them. 4. I realized that although there were some fish in the last drawing, I still hadn't satisfied my need for drawing fish. While I was drawing them, I started thinking about the fish in Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life". Well, basically that's a quick glimpse into my typical train of thought. One thing leads to another... Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn't... Aren't you completely horrified and disappointed glad that you asked?!? After I finished this page in my sketchbook I thought, "These would be fun coloring pages". So, this morning I printed out some copies and started playing! Did you try this tutorial? Hello, I'm back after bit of a break. I went on holiday and lost some crafting mojo after that. I think we all need a break for refuelling at some stage. But I'm back and biting at the bit to start up some wonderful craft swaps again. I've been listing some craft swaps on swapbot for Teesha Moore style fabric patches. I'm hoping I at least get a couple of people in my swap of making little pouches. Here is a picture of a little pouch made by Fran Meneley. I was working on putting together some more TM panels the other day and had to share this technique I love to use for the bags: freezer paper stenciling. I know it's not complicated or difficult to do but I really think it adds something to the panels that embroidery alone doesn't do. Basically I go from the last step I left on (remember, cutting lots and lots of squares and rectangles of fabric to stitch together), stenciling, AND then at that point you're ready to stuff and stitch. It's a simple step to add in, and really fun to do. Here's my elaborate set up....not really. Just a bunch of stencils ready to cut out, matched up with appropriate sized fabric so I'm ready to iron and paint! Here's mid-painting - remember: cardboard or something for the paint to bleed onto - otherwise your ironing board is going to look like crap like mine =) And the long awaited, sometime talked about, finally done TM Hunger Games themed bag! I am really enjoying making themed bags lately - I think it really helps me focus on the designs I put on the panels and really helps to tie the whole thing together. You'll be seeing a number of "themed" projects here soon - I got a slew of them planned now. Though I'll still keep doing the random hodge podge TM stuff too. Here's the back side of the bag. And of course close ups of some of the panels - especially my favorites, and the ones that were hard to see from a distance in the photograph - especially the Rue patch - its much clearer in real life the music notes and her name. I'd love to hear what you guys think!

The oak trees are dropping their leaves like crazy…getting ready to put out new ones and my African Iris put out one bloom….trying to get an early start. I can't wait! This has been a really cold winter for Floridians. I know that you Northerners would probably think that it is bathing suit weather compared your temperatures but we have a damp cold that chills a body to the bone. Anyway, I am ready to put away my winter clothes in exchange for shorts, sleeveless tops…and flip flops!!!! Here is the latest journal page in my "Teesha" journal. I guess you could say that the garden was definitely on my mind…not initially but that's how it ended up. When I first start a page I seldom plan a story or theme…it just sort of evolves and then when it presents itself…I choose the quote. Some people call this tuning into the universe or being guided by your muse. Whatever it is that guides me…the universe, a muse or something else…I give thanks! It is this part of the creative process with it's unexpected twists and turns that gives me the most pleasure when making my art. Until next time! Hugs, Ginny

Oh man, I just got back from New Orleans and my feet are trashed...I am a fairly smart cookie, but I learned never to ever ever ever again travel without bringing tennis shoes again. My feet are covered in blisters and spots rubbed raw by 3, yes 3, different pairs of sandals. Two of which admittedly I bought to try to improve the condition of my feet but yeah....I've learned... ANYWAY, that being said, I'm trying to let my feet recover on the couch and thought I'd do an update! I meant to post my surprise HP thing last week but didn't have enough time before heading to the airport. It was.......a Harry Potter themed Teesha Moore style bag!! I gave it to Coley on Friday when she took me to the airport and I knew she'd love it just like I did! Here's the picture porn for all to enjoy! All the individual panels are my favorite of the bag, though it was hard to pick "favorites" per say. They just turned out more like the picture I had in my head I guess. This bag is a good example of what I plan on selling in my etsy shop once I'm done with school - it's just a bit too time consuming making these to try to open up shop right now...but April isn't too far away!! *runs away to resume stitching madly!* Let's see what my to do list consists of now... -finish hoopla for Erica Almost there, just need to get brave with some fabric paint to do the last finishing touches! -IYP (Invite Your Partner) swap item to finish The annoying thing about swap items is I really shouldn't talk too much about them until the person gets it, lest they be a good stalker and stumbles upon my rambling about this and that....oh well, it'll be awesome!! And I'll need to make another version for myself. -20 TM panels completed Each month I set a minimum goal of TM panels to be completed to help build up my stock for the bags and whatnot that I'll be selling...have yet to get started but it's a nice way to fill in time when I have nothing to do. -1 bag or TM item completed for shop I'm starting a new goal to start making at least one item for my shop every month since I have a giant pile of panels I have yet to do anything with. I think that is about it...for now. Other things always have a way of slipping in without me realizing it hah. Have a great day guys!
