Visual Writing Prompts - Practice Narrative Writing Spring Themed Develop your students narrative writing skills by including these engaging visual writing prompt cards, worksheets and/or slides into lessons. Students will complete a series of worksheets using the one visual writing prompt as inspiration. Once completed, students select another visual writing prompt card and start the process again. Alternatively, slides can be displayed on the IWB as a whole class/small group activity instead of allocating one card per student. *This set is Spring themed. Every card contains an image of a Spring themed object, scenario or location. Alternative themes are available in store. *Updated to Version 2 in January 2022. Now includes new design, 40 corresponding slides, narrative starter slips, additional 3 worksheets and extension activities* This resource is also available in a bundle: • Visual Writing Prompts - Complete Seasonal BUNDLE This product includes: 1. Forty visual writing prompt cards + resource instructions Visual writing prompt cards can be used to inspire creativity! Cards should be printed and individually cut out. Students select a card/cards and use the images as inspiration when practicing narrative writing. 2. Forty corresponding visual writing prompt slides + resource instructions The visual writing prompts have been formatted into PDF slides. Slides can be displayed on an IWB or projector/screen. Alternatively, they can be printed and handed out to small groups during narrative writing time. 3. Ten slides with narrative starters + corresponding narrative starter slips Narrative starters are included on ten slides. The starters are to assist students during the creative writing process. When displayed on the IWB, students independently use the starter to write their narrative. Also included are starter sentences in PDF slip format. At the start of the writing session, students receive one slip to paste at the top of the page. They will then continue narrative writing under the story starter slip. 4. Three worksheets Worksheets are provided to support and guide students during the creative process. Worksheet 1 - students will work in pairs or independently to complete the narrative brainstorming worksheet. This worksheet will require students to identify the setting, characters, obstacles, resolution, and ending. Worksheet 2 - students use the information written on worksheet one to complete worksheet two. Worksheet two requires students to write a short narrative using the visual writing prompt as inspiration. Worksheet 3 - the chart can be used to encourage students to write narratives that correspond with the relevant card number. Each time a writing prompt is used, students color in the appropriate box until all of the cards are utilized. 5. Extension activities If students complete the activity early, a list of five extension activities are included.
