Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. I hope, wherever you are, that you are experiencing some lovely weather. Adelaide has been cold and overcast for weeks but, today, we finally have some sun!! It's still pretty cold though so all I can say is "Bring on the summer"!!!! OK, down to business ... I have another card to share with you. A very masculine and quite 'grungy' card as my title suggests. I distressed all the edges with my Ingvild Bolme Distressy Tool and inked them with 'Gathered Twigs' Distress Ink. A bit of Heather Jacob influence here I think, but still with my own stamp on it!! If you don't know Heather (Can't really imagine that, but) HERE is the link to her blog if you'd like to take a look!! You won't be sorry, as she creates the most gorgeous and inspiring projects! Looooveeee her work!! The papers used are from Prima's 'Engraver' Collection. The tickets were fussy cut from the papers then I crumpled them a little, inked the edges and slipped them in between the layers. Used a spatula to add some 'Clear Rock Candy' Distress Crackle and, when that was dry, I went over it with 'Gathered Twigs' Distress Ink to bring out the cracks. I then just used my finger to swipe some gesso around the edge. I love how the gesso also 'cracked' when it dried. Used the same technique on the belly band as you can see. I've had the metal key and the clock in my stash for a little while and am not sure where I got those but I really love that key. Was a bit sorry to use it as it is the only one I have but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet don't you?? Here's another closie of the 'crackle' effect. I really love it and you'll be seeing a lot more of this in my work!!! Decorated the inside with wide bands of the paper which were border punched with the 'Optic Dot' Punch by Martha Stewart. Then I added a bit more texture with Tim Holtz 'Latticework' Stencil and 'Frayed Burlap' Distress Ink and, again, wiped a little gesso around the edge on one side. A different view ... lying down ... ... and standing up!! This is the first of two 'grungy' masculine cards I created. The second is similar to this but of course a bit different as well and I will show you that one further down the track. Thank you so much for visiting today and I do hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Take care and God Bless.

Now... on to my card details: I made this tri-shutter card using stamps from the ODBD sets: Mighty Sea, The Sea, and Anchor (a past release). I stamped the images with Memento and colored with Copic Markers. I used SU! Close to Cocoa for my base, and Memory Box Poppyfinch designer paper. The blue is Bazzill. With my Grand Calibur, I cut several Spellbinders Dies: Grommet Tags, Labels 11, Labels 17, and Labels 20. I used the negative part of an EK Success Bracket Punch for the little blue "waves" I added. The twine is "hung" on a part of an ODBD Fence Die. The little sand dollars are a K&Co self adhesive ribbon which I cut apart to use as single shells. Below is a close up of the fish netting I created with a re-purposed onion bag. Happy Wednesday! Today I want to share the journey of blogging. I have really loved this creative journey and want to thank all of you for coming along with me! This card is for my friend Heather who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. Heather made her first post today on her new blog called InkandFlour.blogspot.com YAY!!!! And it happens to be the same day I started my blog 2 years ago. What a funny coincidence! I hope you will pop over and say hello! This card is all about "Enjoying the Journey". Here are a few things you will need to get started. Distress Markers, Distress Paint, Detail Water Brush, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Jet Black Archival Ink, Blending Tool, a little Idea-ology and some Stamps. Don't you just love this Travel Blueprint set from Tim? Our base card will be a #12 black tag from Ranger folded in half. Cut a piece of Kraft resist about 3" wide by the height of the tag. Color the piece with Distress Paint by adding the paint to the surface. Dab with a baby wipe to blend the colors together. I used Chipped Sapphire, Forest Moss and Salty Ocean. When you're all done coloring your piece be sure to wipe the resist areas to reveal the kraft card stock. If you don't have the paints yet you can use Distress inks on an Ink Blending Tool. Tear the right edge of the paper. Ink all edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink on an Ink Blending tool. Adhere to the left side of your card. Stamp the Compass image 3 times onto kraft card stock with Black Archival ink. Cut the pieces out as shown. Using a Paper Distresser, distress the edges of the base compass image. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool. Color the image with Distress Markers by applying the ink to your Craft Sheet, picking up the color with the Detail Water Brush and coloring the compass. If you want the color fairly dark you can color the compass directly with the marker. Using Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool ink the edges of all the Compass layers. Add the Mini Gears to the center of the compass using a mini fastener. Pop dot the compass to create dimension. Mat the compass with a piece of Black Kraft'core the has been distressed with a paper Distresser and Vintage Photo Distress ink on an Ink Blending tool. Die cut the Washer Border using Black Kraft'core. Sand the washer border, Ink with Vintage Photo on an ink blending tool and adhere to card. Tie paper twine around card with the "Life" key in the bow. Add the Word band "Enjoy the Journey" with long fasteners. Adhere the pin nib to the card. Pop dot the compass unit to your card. I love this trick! To cover the back of the hardware on the inside of your card use Tissue Tape. I love the dimension of this card, just by using pop dots. Take some time for yourself and "Enjoy the Journey"! Thanks for coming by and don't forget to say hi to Heather over on here new blog InkandFlour.blogspot.com. She has a beautiful tag for you to see. Hi all! I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted - yikes! I've been having some work done on my studio, so it's really a mess right now and hard to find a clean space to craft. Hopefully I'll be organized soon and can get back to creating! I absolutely had to take some time this month to make a card for the Paper Pros challenge. My brother's birthday is today, so I suggested we do masculine birthday cards. I have been dying to use Karen Burniston's new Twist Panel Card die. It makes this fancy fold so easy! And seriously it's such a show-stopper of a card. For the masculine theme, I chose papers from Tim Holtz's Dapper collection. The mini blueprint stamps are just perfect for decorating the panels. I colored them with a water brush and Distress inks. The sentiment is from Karen's Occasions clear stamp set from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I kept the front super simple, just adding some cardstock scraps and a line of washi tape. The die-cut sentiment is from Karen's new Birthday Words die set. I'm so excited about these new dies from Karen! You can check out the full line HERE. I've also linked to the specific dies I used below. You'll also find links to the stamps and other supplies I used, available at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Simon Says Stamp. Life is a journey that sometimes goes where you would never have expected or planned. That has been the case for me, and is partly the reason I haven't blogged for so long. In September last year my husband and I separated. It has been a long and difficult road, both in the months leading up to that point, and since. I am doing okay though, trying to take one day at a time, and am blessed to have a wonderful network of family and friends who are loving and supportive. At the end of last year I also made a decision to go back to Uni. It is busy, but I am loving what I'm doing (Bachelor of Midwifery at the University of Canberra). It seems to be working in with my circumstances fairly well and I feel it is the right thing for me at this point. And now for some cards... I thought it appropriate to share these few as the first blog entry since last year. Stamps: The Open Sea (Summer Mini Catalogue), Life Definitions, French Foliage Card: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla Ink: Soft Suede, Early Espresso Other: Linen Thread The next card I made for this One-Layer-Wednesday challenge, "Dudes Rule", but I didn't get it uplaoded in time to enter it. Oh well, the whole point is to inspire creativity, which it did. Stamps: The Open Sea (Summer Mini Catalogue), Bring on the cake, French Foliage Card: Shimmery White Ink: Soft Suede, Early Espresso Other: Linen Thread Here is a multi-layer version, which I prefer! Stamps: The Open Sea (Summer Mini Catalogue), Bring on the cake, French Foliage Card: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Shimmery White Ink: Soft Suede, Early Espresso Other: Linen Thread I have made many more cards over the months, and hope to share some of them with you before another ten months pass by!!! It's so good to be back :)

Our designer sneak peeks continue with the new sets Guitars and Background Basics Lines. I like this guitar set so much I couldn't stop with just one card—I made two! The first one is masculine themed and made with the acoustic guitar. I colored the guitar with colored pencils, fussy cut and layered on vintage sheet music. See the splatters on the corners of the base paper and on the sheet music? These "splatters" are actually stamps that are part of the Guitars set. I think these are just so cool and give the perfect vintage look to my papers! I wanted the guitar to stand out so I used 3D pads to lift it from the page. I used ribbon at the bottom, but kept to the masculine color scheme. I used the Just a note stamp from the IBS Big Notes set. With the background sheet music, I think that's an appropriate sentiment, don't you? I finished the inside, but left it blank for a personal note. I already know who I'm sending this one to. These stamps will work well for anyone—guy or gal—who likes music. I decided to make a feminine card for the electric guitar stamp. And since it's an electric guitar, I decided on an electric color—neon pink! I paper pieced a part of the guitar, added little pearls, some ribbon and twine. I used the Happy Birthday stamp from the Big Wishes set at the bottom. There's even a little guitar charm; I knew I'd find a use for these charms one day! Inside it's a stamp from the Birthday Greetings set. It's time to start thinking about Father's Day, if you haven't already. I have so many wonderful fathers in my life. God blessed me with a loving dad who has supported me in all of my endeavors and is such a fun grandpa. I also have an amazing father-in-law, who loves me like his own daughter and is another special grandpa. And of course, there's my husband, who is the kind, patient, loving, funny, goofy, Godly man that is the father of my two kiddos. I am looking forward to honoring these guys on Father's Day, and here's little card I cooked up for this month's stamp-a-stack, especially for this occasion. This was my first attempt at making an origami tie, and it was actually pretty easy. Here are directions I found, in case you want to make one of your own! I used a 4"x4" square of designer paper to make my tie, but any size square will work. Just keep in the mind, the smaller the square, the harder it will be to fold. Have a wonderful day! Stamps: Best Dad Ever Paper: Whisper White, Marina Mist, Polka Dot Parade dsp Ink: Marina Mist Accessories: Big Shot, Chevron embossing folder, Apothecary Accents Framelits, silver brads, Whisper White stitched grosgrain ribbon
