Here we are with a collection of DIY greeting card ideas, which will come to your use all over the year.
Today's Create With Stamping Friends Saturday Hop theme is a neutral palette; whites, grays, ivorys, browns or black. I chose browns for this card - Basic Beige and Early Espresso. The floral image was stamped in Early Espresso on Basic Beige cardstock and "colored" with Clear Wink of Stella. The W.O.S. picked up the ink from the stamped image like using a Water Painter, adding subtle shimmer, as well. I love the circle dies in the Spotlight on Nature bundle! I think they're going to be used a lot in the near future. That's all for today - see you next Saturday! Up next is Libby Fens at Libby Stamps. Or click the "back" button to go back to Lori at Loritamarie Crafts. Stampin' Up! products used: Stamps: Spotlight on Nature Paper: Basic Beige, Early Espresso Ink: Early Espresso, Clear Wink of Stella Accessories: Spotlight on Nature Dies, Basics 3D Embossing Folders, Neutrals Adhesive-backed Sequins

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums, hope you had a great day with lots of love and hugs from your family. I have had several ladies with me today doing the One-sheet Wonder Class, we had a lot of laughs and really enjoyed the day. During the class we talked about some basic card sketches which are quick and easy to do and how they could be used in their card making. The ladies went home with 12 cards from one piece of designer series paper. I am sharing the cutting template (at the bottom of this post) and card instructions with you. The cutting template is not to scale, however the measurements are detailed. The designer series paper sheet used to make the cards is from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series paper pack. Card 1 A2 Pool Party card base. Whisper White mat 14.3cm x 10cm embossed with the Lovely Lace Embossing folder. Mats for Flower – Pool Party 7.5cm x 7.5cm & Whisper White 7cm x 7cm, adhere to card front with dimensionals. Flower – Silver Emboss the flower images from Beautiful Bunch, Flower Shop and Petite Petals stamp sets onto Whisper White, do a watercolour wash on the petals using Pool Party ink. Punch out using the matching punches Fun Flower, Pansy and Petite Petals. Layer up with dimensionals and add an Iced Rhinestone for the flower centre. Create the leaves using Whisper White and the Botanical Builder Framelit Dies. Ink the edges of the leaves with Pool Party. Add Silver Metallic Thread to the back of the flower and adhere to the flower mat. Add some Rhinestones to finish panel. Sentiment Panel – Pool Party 10cm x 4.4cm, Designer Series Paper (DSP) 10cm x 3.9cm. Stamp the sentiment from the Wetlands Stamp Set using Basic Black Archival ink. Punch out with the Large Oval Punch and then mat onto a Pool Party Scalloped Oval and adhere to the sentiment panel using dimensionals. Card 2 A2 Pool Party card base. Whisper White mat 13.8cm x 9.5cm. DSP 13.cm x 9cm, adhere this to the Whisper White mat and then to the card front. Pool Party cardstock 8cm x 2.5cm, create a flag one end using the Triple Banner Punch. Stamp the sentiment in Basic Archival Black from the Greatest Greetings stamp set. Add a strip of Rhinestones and adhere to the card front. Card 3 A2 Pool Party card base. Whisper White mat 13.8cm x 9.5cm embossed using the Lovely Lace embossing folder. Adhere this to the card front. Centre Panel – Pool Party mat 10.5cm x 8cm, DSP 10cm x 7.5cm. Add a piece of Pool Party Glitter Ribbon to the DSP and then adhere this to the Pool Party cardstock mat. Adhere to the card front. Sentiment Panel – Pool Party mat 7.5cm x 4cm, Whisper White 7cm x 3.5cm on which the sentiment is stamped with Basic Black Archival ink. The sentiment is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set. Adhere this to the DSP centre panel using dimensionals, add some Rhinestones to finish. Card 4 A2 Pool Party card base. Whisper White mat 13.8cm x 9.5cm embossed using the Lovely Lace embossing folder. Wrap a piece of Pool Party Glitter Ribbon around this piece and adhere this to the card front. Centre panels – cut 3 Pool Party mats 3.5cm x 3.5cm, 3 Whisper White mats 3cm x 3cm and adhere the 3 DSP 2.5cm x 2.5cm pieces to these. Adhere the two outer pieces to the card front and then the centre one using a dimensional. Stamp the sentiment from the Watercolor Wings stamp set using Basic Black Archival ink onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock and punch out using the Washi Label punch. Adhere this to the centre of the card and add a Rhinestone to finish. Card 5 A2 Pool Party card base. Whisper White mat 13.8cm x 9.5cm embossed using the Lovely Lace embossing folder. Adhere this to the card front. 3 Panels – Pool Party mats 8cm x 4cm, adhere the pieces of DSP 7.5cm x .5cm to these and adhere to the card front. Sentiment Panel – stamp the sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set onto Whisper White using Basic Black Archival Ink and punch out using the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and mat onto a 1 ½” Pool Party Circle using the 1 ½” Circle Punch. Layer these together and adhere to a small Silver Metallic Doily. Adhere the card front using dimensionals. Card 6 A2 Pool Party card base. Whisper White mat 13.8cm x 9.5cm embossed using the Lovely Lace embossing folder. Adhere this to the card front. Centre Panel – Pool Party mat 10.5cm x 8cm. Take the 10cm x 7.5cm piece of DSP and cut the centre out, leaving a 1cm frame. Adhere this to the Pool Party mat. Stamp the sentiment from the Birthday Blooms stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 9.5cm x 7cm using Basic Black Archival Ink (make sure that you stamp towards to bottom of the panel to allow room for the banner at the top. Adhere this on top of the DSP. Banner - Cut the DSP remaining into 5 strips 1.5cm wide. Create the flag on one end, you can use the Banner Punch for this or just use your scissors. Fold these over a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine, sticking together with a glue dot (I found this easier than glue or tape). Evenly space the banners along the Bakers Twine and adhere to the centre panel just above the sentiment (again using glue dots). Tie two bows using Bakers Twice and adhere these at each end of the banner. Add some Rhinestones between the flags to finish. Card 7 A2 Pool Party card base. Stamp the sentiment from the Wetlands stamp set onto the 4cm x 4cm piece of Whisper White, making sure that you same it on the diagonal. Adhere the sentiment panel and the DSP to the Pool Party mats. Adhere the top and bottom panels in place and adhere the centre panel with dimensionals. Punch out some small flowers from the left over DSP using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Add small Rhinestones to the flower centres to finish. Card 8 A2 Pool Party card base. Whisper White mat 13.8cm x 9.5cm, DSP 13.3cm x 9cm. Adhere these together and then adhere to the card front. Sentiment Panel – Pool Party 9.5cm x 3cm, Whisper White 9.5cm x 2.5cm. I saw a card on Pinterest using this layout. I chose different papers which made my card a different color than the one I saw. The sentiment I used is from Stampin' Up! as well but different than the card I CASED. My "stash" of designer papers needs to be used. Although I won't be able to use up what I have in my lifetime, you will be seeing more cards this week using some of them. Last Wednesday we picked up two of our grandchildren who were on Spring Break. We love having Tucker and Taryn come and usually have some fun things to do. Making a double batch of cut-out Easter sugar cookies was high on the agenda as well as making a double batch of chocolate chip cookies for Grandpa. I still have a box full of Easter candy molds from "back in the day" when I was selling Easter suckers and boxed pieces of all kinds. I had intended to sell them this year but forgot so I brought one of them out with some candy melts for them to make some little chocolate bunnies. Needless to say Taryn latched on to several of the molds and took them home to play with there. The kids went home on Saturday but we went to their home yesterday for a grand Easter Dinner. Their father was a chef at one of the popoular restaurants in the Amana Colonies when he was going to college. He is now a pharamacist but could sure open his own restaurant the way he cooks! Thanks for coming by today! Thank you for coming by today! UPDATE: To answer a question about the flowers in the middle section of this card. I fussy cut them from the designer paper. The designer paper I used was from the SU "Painted Blooms" designer paper. I used two sizes of Spellbinders square dies for the layered squares. The card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". The white layer is 5 1/4" x 4". The colored card stock is Pacific Point from SU.
I have a funny story to tell about a simple card that went on to big things. Back in 2010 I shared some cards on my blog from a team swap. One of them was this card by the lovely Debbie Hand. Over …

Another card made for a swap on the Oriental Stamp Art Yahoo Group - this time we were challenged to use some of our precious washi paper. Apparently it's not just for looking at and stroking, you CAN use it! I did a simple design which I highlighted with the use of gold thread, toning beads and a flower from the washi cut out and placed under a gel 'stone'. I enjoyed doing this one and will definitely dig into my washi stash again before too long :)

Oh I do like using sketches & Narelle has created this fun one for our new Just Add Ink challenge. I loved the stars but was in a butterfly mood so this is what I made. Looking at the sketch & my card together, I may have taken some liberties with the scale of the elements, but I think you can definitely see the sketch. It turned out much bolder & brighter than my initial idea but I still like it. Maybe the other idea will come out another time :-) It's pretty sparkly in real life with the glittery butterfly, bermuda bay & silver sequins, & silver foil but maybe not showing so well in the pic. Try clicking on the pic to see a bigger version. I really like the effect of the Softly Falling folder I embossed the Cherry on Top paper background with. The actual paper has falling sprinkles on it too so I thought the embossing would enhance it even more. The team have used the sketch in all sorts of awesome ways so see them all here on the JAI blog. I hope you'll play along & link up with the challenge too. Thanks for visiting today & I hope my card gives you ideas to try. See you next post. On a grey day - a cheerful card to lift my mood..... This stamped panel was another of the "bits" I had lying around, so being in my messing about mood, I decided to do something with it. Again, not a good day for photography! The stamps are one of my favourite sets from EI. The main panel : stamped in black stazon, coloured with various distress inks and then triple embossed. I went for a (bold for me) straight stamping onto card for the background again with distress inks. There was a reason why I when for a simple, clean card today, and that was to practice for a forthcoming venture by my cuttling mate Chrissie, who along with her friend Mandi are setting up a NEW weekly challenge blog called "Less is more". This is a technique which I like and so I hope to join in with their first challenge on Saturday 5th February. If you also like this style of artwork, why not pop over to their new blog and join in - you will be find some very interesting and talented crafters at work, and Chrissie and Mandi would be real chuffed to see you. To everyone who has left comment over the last week, you have cheered up me no end! Thank you soooo much, I really do appreciate your support. Today has been a much more positive day, although my desk has yet to be glued! I have even had a thought or two outside the box - it must be your encouragement!
