In today's world, where our emotions often juggle between the highs and lows, there are certain deep meaning pictures that scream volumes. Take a look at them!
Fundamental values, often called core values or personal values, are vitally important in living a purposeful life. Discover why values matter and how to find your values in this article.
Sometimes I wonder, why people keep treating animals like if they don't had any value in life? Perhaps, some people didn't learned to have any value to other species from childhood. Maybe, someone forgot to teach those children, how wonderful animals are, and how amazing could be their bond of friendship. Being a mother has always been a great responsibility, teaching a child the importance & the value of another sentient being, have been the most important issue for me. If a child understands that all living beings on Earth are as valuable as he is, certainly will have a noble soul, full of compassion, & would never do any harm to any sentient being. I will like to share some quotes that gave me so many lessons of how just a single word could make such an impact in our lives ... "He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals" ~ Immanual Kant "An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language." ~ Martin Buber "The purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals" ~ Anonymous "Who can believe that there is no soul behind those luminous eyes!" ~ Theophile Gautier "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." ~ Anatole France "If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans" ~ James Herriot "The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity". ~ George Bernard Shaw “The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as now they look upon the murder of men.” Leonardo Da vinci “The love of all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man.” Charles Darwin “The question is not, “Can they reason?” nor, “Can they talk?” but rather, 'Can they suffer?'” Jeremy Bentham "We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace". ~Albert Schweitzer "Let us dream of tomorrow where we can truly love from the soul, and know love as the ultimate truth at the heart of all creation" ~ Michael Jackson "It is necessary to help others, not only in our prayers, but in our daily lives. If we find we cannot help others, the least we can do is to desist from harming them" ~ Dalai Lama "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr "Have you ever wondered, who owned & ruled the Earth before human presence?" ~ Ailed Rivera “If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to the man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth.” Chief Seattle of the Suquamish Tribe, letter to President Franklin Pierce "There is no fundamental difference between man and the higher animals in their mental faculties.… The lower animals, like man, manifestly feel pleasure and pain, happiness, and misery". ~ Charles Darwin "Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself". ~ James A. Froude "Now I can look at you in peace; I don’t eat you anymore". ~ Franz Kafka, while admiring fish in an aquarium "Only when the last tree has been cut down. Only when the last river has been poisoned. Only when the last fish has been caught. Only then ... you will find that money cannot be eaten.” ~ Proverb, American Indian. Here's a lovely story of Christian the Lion, a story that always makes me cry, not of sadness, but of happiness.
Old age is not a subject most of us enjoy dwelling upon. As Groucho Marx remarked, “Age is not a particularly interesting subject. Anyone can get old. All you have to do is live long enough.” But since May is Older Americans Month, I have been thinking about older people, whether Americans or not. Friends and colleagues in their 70s, 80s, and one who just turned 100, are among

Welcome to 20Time, where students spend 20 percent of their class time over a 12-week period pursuing a meaningful project of their own choosing. In this free packet, you’ll find a variety of materials to help guide middle-school and high-school students through this project-based learning experience, similar in scope to other PBLs such as the 20 Percent Project and Genius Hour. As I blogged at www.laurarandazzo.com about my experiences using 20Time with four sections of high school freshmen and one section of juniors, fellow teachers asked many great questions and requested that I put all of my materials together in one convenient spot. This packet is my effort to gather my 20Time blog posts and materials in one grab-and-go location. This package includes: • Links to the entire series of 20Time blog posts • Letter to parents/guardians explaining the philosophy behind the project • Link to a reusable Prezi slide deck to use as you introduce the project to your students • 60-Second Project Pitch (also known as “Guppy Tank,” a kinder, gentler Shark Tank public speaking experience) Assignment sheet • 60-Second Project Pitch/Guppy Tank Rubric • Peer voting result slips on 60-Second Project Pitch/Guppy Tank performances • List of 30 generic project ideas for students who struggle to find a meaningful project • List of 50 specific projects completed by my students this year to give you a sense of where we ended up • Weekly planning slip (“Exit Ticket”) to help students get organized the day before each in-class work session • End-of-Project Speech Assignment handout • End-of-Project Speech Rubric resource list I hope these materials are helpful in bringing the many benefits of project-based learning to your students. Thanks for stopping by!
