I am happy to offer a Danish Heiberg table lamp - A lovely classic with a great name and history. The Heiberg lamps were originally oil lamps made around the 1830s - a really classical and antique design. The design resurfaced on old paintings and the Danish lamp producer decided to remake the lamps with electricity around the 70s (hence this lamp is most likely by Søholm). But why the name? The danish painter Wilhelm Marstrand had made a painting in 1870 of the Heiberg family sitting around this type of lamp - and that is why the lamp was named "the Heiberg lamp" The heiberg lamp was produced in different sizes and colors - the white being the classical one. This piece is a great medium size. A heiberg lamp is always 12-edged. Price includes: Lamp base and standard shipping (sold without shade). Measurements: Height with socket: 35.5cm // 13.98" Maximum diameter: 10.5cm // 4.13" Fits with: E27 light bulb. Comes with 3,2m of white wire with on/off switch. Condition: Amazing condition! German postcard by Film-Foto-Verlag, no. A 3939/1, 1941-1944. Photo: Baumann / Terra. Kirsten Heiberg in Die goldene Spinne/The Golden Spider (Erich Engels, 1943) Beautiful Norwegian actress and singer Kirsten Heiberg (1907-1976) was the femme fatale of the German cinema of the Third Reich. The Ufa considered her as a replacement for Marlene Dietrich after the latter left for Hollywood. ‘Die Heiberg’ was one of the most interesting and talented Ufa-stars, but unfortunately, she stayed somewhat in the shade of Zarah Leander.

Hello, and thanks for stopping by lumenowl! PLEASE NOTE: lumenowl lamps do not ship with lampshades, unless expressly stated. Lamps are modelled with a variety of shades to give a prospective buyer an idea of what might work in terms of size, shape and colour. If the shade modelled is available for purchase, the link to the third party seller is provided in the listing. --------------- INTRO: This gorgeous, slender 1950's Søholm table lamp has been brought into the 21st century with all new components. Fashioned from beautifully glossy porcelain in bright, brilliant white and with brass gilding and a solid brass collar at the tip, this striking little lamp has a very rich history behind it... --------------- A BIT OF HISTORY: ...and who knew an unassuming but beautifully designed lamp had *such* a rich history? The Heiberg lamp series, first released by Søholm in the late 1950's, is named after the portrait of poet and playwright Johan Ludvig Heiberg and his family in which it first appeared, painted by Wilhelm Marstrand in 1870 (see the last image in the gallery). Of course, at the time, this fluted design was filled with oil or paraffin, and a large glass dome containing a wick atop the lamp provided light. Much later, Søholm created a faithful adaptation of said oil lamp, this time produced with electric light in mind. Søholm was the oldest ceramic factory on Bornholm until its closure in 1996. Items are sometimes marked ‘Søholm Stentoj’ (which just means ‘Stoneware’). Søholm Pottery was founded by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Christian Sonne in 1835, but from 1841 Wolffsen took over solo. In the beginning, Søholm works consisted mainly of utilitarian domestic wares, before gradually expanding into decorative items. --------------- CONDITION: The lamp is frankly in staggering condition, having been extremely well looked after. The brass collar has been removed, deeply cleaned and refitted, and now shines up a storm. The white porcelain is as rich as the day it was fired, with no cracks, chips or restorations. Finally, the brass gilding doesn't have so much as a hint of fading or dulling. Quite hard to believe this lamp was manufactured over 60 years ago! --------------- THE TECHNICAL BIT: HEIBERG has had all existing electrical components removed and replaced with modern variants. The vintage 1950-60's plastic ES/E27 lamp holder is gone (and good thing, too, as the interior was corroded!), and in its place now sits a new, high quality, machine milled E14/SES screw brass version (matching the vintage brass collar and crucially making the lamp compatible with bulbs sold in the UK, Europe and the US). HEIBERG has been rewired with luxurious quality 3-core bark coloured linen and rayon covered cable in a fantastic zig-zag pattern, featuring a high quality white inline rocker switch 20cm from the lamp base (with another 1m from the switch to the matching white UK 3-pin plug). An internal cord grip keeps the cable sturdily in place. The metal lamp holder is earthed, and the lamp has been thoroughly PAT tested and approved (with a sticker affixed near the plug to show the PASS status). Components comprise of a British-made and certified lamp holder and plug, and Italian-made cable and switch, which have passed or exceeded relevant CE and EU electrical integrity tests. --------------- DIMENSIONS: Height: 26.5cm Width: 8cm Depth: 8cm Weight: 400G --------------- LAMPSHADES: If you're looking for a perfect shade to match your new lumenowl lamp, look no further than littleredrobinco, right here on Etsy! Lynne and her team make the most gorgeous, bespoke lampshades in a dazzling variety of colours, styles, shapes and sizes. The exact shade(s) modelled on the lamp can be found here: 15cm Neutral Linen Drum: https://etsy.me/30CuUmW --------------- SHIPPING: Every item is professionally wrapped, packaged and sent via UPS on a fully trackable service. --------------- DISCLAIMER: Please note, when purchasing vintage glassware, earthenware and ceramics etc., some age-related signs of wear such are to be expected. These include, but are not limited to; fine surface scratches/scuff marks, superficial chips, colour aberrations and dulling of parts that have been exposed to abrasive treatment. I ensure I list any aesthetic faults in both the descriptions and photographs, but please always satisfy yourself the item you are purchasing matches the description.
