Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn. This ise myfirst Funky Folds Blog Hop. I'm so thrilled to join this amazing group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless. All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold My card is actually a gate fold card with a fun pop up feature inside!! I was looking for a great way to show off glorious papers and created this fold - it's a bit of a mash up of a couple of other cards. When you first see the card it's a traditional gatefold card that will fit into a standard envelope. This fold shows off the glorious Thoughtful Journey papers which have stunning scenery and artistry. And then, when you open the card there is a floating panel to feature more of the gorgeous papers. Each of the side panels are ready for any greeting you want to write to your recipient. Contact me if you'd like the dimensions for this card at [email protected] Make sure you keep hopping!! Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn. Tonight I'm joining the CASEING the CATTY blog hop to inspire you!! To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues. This week, we are CASEING a project featuring a retiring punch. I was inspired by this great card on page 94 of our retiring Annual Catalogue which features the retiring Inked and Tiled punch bundle. I've cased the layout of the card and the greeting details. My card features some gorgeous new paper from the Thoughtful Journey Suite. The greeting has been punched using the very versatile Happy Labels punch. I've used the gorgeous designer paper, and the Thoughtful Journey stamp set and dies for the detailed elements. To create the ribbon I coloured some White Diagonal Trim ribbon using my Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blends (Dark). My final touch is some gorgeous glittery In Color Shimmer Gems. Inside the card features more stamping, some of the gorgeous paper and a bit of colouring. Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of amazing projects. Hello and Welcome to our Monthly blog hop!! Our group features creative souls from all over the world who want to inspire you!! This month, the theme for our projects is Sympathy. My favourite stamp set to use for Sympathy is the Peaceful Moments stamp set, and I usually pair it with Quiet Meadow as I love one of the sayings in that set that work perfectly. This time, though, I've used the flowers and kept to words from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. To create the lovely sponged shadow for both the front and inside the card, I punched a shape from Masking Paper using the Lasting Label punch. I then used a blending brush and Pale Papaya to sponge around the mask, lifted up the mask, and voila - white space for the stamping!! The flowers have been coloured using Pale Papaya and Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends with a touch of Calypso Coral for the centres of the flowers. I've also used Sahara Sand for the splatters of colour!! I think this works well with the linen thread bow and the beautiful die cut Distressed Gold butterfly using the Meadow Dies. The background of the card features some extra texture using the Brick and Mortar embossing folder. UP next on our international hop is the fabulous Annette and I know you'll love her project. Here's the list of everyone in case you get lost along the way. Shirley Merker Julia Quinn Annette McMillan Julia Mazur Terri Stewart Nancy Reynolds Tracy Held Maureen Rauchfuss Krissi Hannahs Please head over to my online store if you wish to see these products in more detail - and you can place your order anytime (if you're in Australia) while you're there (even if you're in your pyjamas!!) Hello and Welcome to our Sunday Night Blog Hop and Challenge CASEING the CATTY. To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogue (CATTY). This week, we are stepping up our project and layout!! There are lots of great examples of this technique scattered through our catalogue and it's a lovely way to introduce new people to the joy of cardmaking and stamping. Annual Catalogue page 12 © Stampin' Up! 2021 I have used this gorgeous fishy card from page 12 as my starting point for my Step it Up journey. I have used the wonderful Seascape bundle of the gorgeous Seascape stamp set and coordinating Sea Life dies. The first and simplest card is this one in the front of my trio - and it is very similar to the project in the catalogue. It mostly uses simple stamping with the added touch of the gorgeous die featuring this lovely fish. Inside the card is more simple stamping and plenty of room to write a greeting. The second card for my Step it Up trio is one I've featured before on this blog hop. If you are a regular you may have recognised it!! I've added a fussy cut stamped fish, some torn edge stamped paper for the sand detail and I've sponged extra detail and colour onto the fish. Inside this card features a few more fussy cut fish and the torn edge. The most complex card is my trio is a 3D card with a window sheet front layer to create extra dimension and to look like an aquarium. There is more stamping and blending with colour on the back layer of the card, and lots more die cutting detail on the window sheet layer. I've again used the torn edge layer for the sand detail. The Calypso Coral seaweed layer is actually a piece from the Seaside Seashells die. It was a bit tricky trying to photograph the window sheet without collecting a whole bunch of reflection!! The back of the card features a stamped and sponge panel. I was thrilled with the way this card turned out!! Here's a video showing how I put this card together ! https://www.facebook.com/handmadebyJuliaQuinn/videos/2942516306013101 Which is your favourite fishy card???? Up next on our hop tonight is the amazing Tina and her wonderful project. We hope you're so inspired by our blog hop that you will join in the challenge with us and share your 'stepped up' project with us on our Facebook challenge page here. Love paper?? Now's the time to stock up!! Find out why HERE!! Please head over to my online store if you wish to see these products in more detail - and you can place your order anytime (if you're in Australia) while you're there (even if you're in your pyjamas!!) Hello and Welcome to another fabulous Sunday Night Blog Hop and Challenge CASEING the CATTY. Welcome if you have just arrived from Monique. To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit, and we love to CASE from our Stampin' Up! catalogues which are full of amazing inspiration. This week we are CASING our Favourite Project in the new Catalogue!! HARDEST CHALLENGE EVER!!! I love love love so much in this new catalogue and I did lots of creating and changing my mind and making decisions, so in the end I decided my favourite is the Boho Indigo Suite projects. Annual Catalogue 2020-2021 page 9 all images © Stampin' Up! ® I've been inspired by the gorgeous vanilla card on the Bottom Right, and the lovely vase card on the bottom left - these were the starting point for a few cards!! The card on the left inspired this lovely card featuring the gorgeous papers. I've made it into a card with a central panel featuring the lovely vase!! After completing this card, I then wanted to show off more of the paper, so I created another card in an extended z fold which features the paper to perfection!! The embellishment on this card really relies on the stunning dies that coordinate with the stamp set. I love the way this card folds out to really show off!! And then, at our recent team meeting I was totally inspired by Wanda who showed us a 'wiper' card with a super cute little pop-up feature!! This card features a bunch of the stunning die cuts that come with the Boho Indigo suite, as well as the lovely textured paper. The only stamping on this card is the greeting which is also stamped onto one of the die cuts included in the suite. When you push the card in the pop-up disappears!! And then when you pull it out the cute little 'wiper' feature pops up!! There will be a great video on YouTube to show you how to do this!! I hope you've been inspired too! This Boho Suite is just amazing and so versatile, fun and totally gorgeous!! I wonder what the rest of the crew found to be their favourites this week??? Keep hopping all the way around to see them all. Up next is the wonderful Rebecca who always inspires!! You can join in the fun too with us this week and share your favourite project inspiration onto our Facebook challenge page!! Look how much to get in this kit!! It includes the stamp set, coordinating dies, papers, ribbons, loads of diecuts and some super cute little felt flowers. When you purchase this kit, you will also qualify for a bonus voucher you can use next month!! Check out the details here!! Please head over to my online store if you wish to see these products in more detail - and you can place your order anytime (if you're in Australia) while you're there (even if you're in your pyjamas!!) This week at SUO we are sharing our Favourite New Stamp Set with you - and I do have to admit that there are a few new stamp sets that I totally LOVE!! And if you follow my blog you would probably be able to have a good guess what they might be! (smile) So it was a bit tricky trying to narrow my field to just ONE favourite stamp set - and eventually I decided that I've really used Awesomely Artistic LOTS and LOTS and I REALLY LOVE all of the stamps in the set. This card has the layout CASED from the catalogue illustration on page 125 and I've only really changed the colours. I heat embossed the gorgeous leaf bouquet with white embossing powder, then I watercoloured with an aquapainter and Island Indigo, and sprayed Pool Party with the Stampin' Spritzer - for my background piece. It's also been stamped with Mint Macaron for the leaves, and Island Indigo for the ink splatter (Don't you love how this simple ink splatter makes your project look so artistic!!?) I've used some yummy dazzling diamonds glimmer paper for a banner, and the marvellous new Metal Rimmed Pearls as a little embellishment, along with the silver bakers twine for my bow. Now it's time for you to see all the fantastic projects done by the rest of the design team, and grab your favourite new stamp set, get creating and join in the fun!!
Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn Tonight I'm hopping with the CASEING the CATTY crew. We have a weekly hop to share great inspiration from our catalogues (catty). To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love sharing with YOU. This week, we are CASEING the new catalogue!! ANYTHING!! Be prepared for lots of awesome inspiration! I've cased this gorgeous card from page 46 of our catalogue. I loved the way the catalogue highlighted the detail in the painted paper by fussy cutting some elements and adding as an overlay! My CASE is very close to the original - I've changed the card base to Pecan Pie, with a Mossy Meadow mat under the stunning Thoughtful Journey papers. Inside features the piece of designer paper I cut off from the front of my card. Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of great inspiration. And if you need more ideas, head to our Facebook page here. Hello and Welcome to our Sunday Night Blog Hop and Challenge CASEING the CATTY. To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit , and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (Catty). This week, we are CASEING from our Sale-a-bration Catalogue. I've been inspired by the lovely watery, painty technique on page 8 of the Sale-a-bration Catalogue which features the fun Corner Bouquet stamp set. After I'd made my card, I flicked it with some Champagne Shimmer Mist and a Water Painter - can you see my newly decorated catalogue in the background? My ability to make splatters go EVERYWHERE (except where I want them!!) means that I really should look at what's on my desk before I start splattering!! Lol!! To create the watery image I inked up the stamp partly with some Pear Pizzazz ink, and then used a Bumblebee and Rococo Rose Stampin' Write Maker to add extra colour. Then I spritzed the whole image using the Stampin' Mist to create the watery look just before stamping. I've also used Shimmery White Cardstock which tolerates more moisture than other cardstock. When you do this technique - every card has it's own unique look which I love as I think it looks so artistic!! The greeting on the front was stamped with another Sale-a-bration stamp set - Heal Your Heart - just loove that font!! Inside the card features some 2nd and 3rd generation stamping with the small stamps from the Corner Bouquet stamp set and Pear Pizzazz with Rococo Rose inks. The greeting comes from another Sale-a-bration stamp set - the fabulous hostess set Punch Party!! There are so many great stamps that coordinate with a bunch of our great punches!! This time, the greeting coordinates with the new Double Oval Punch featured in our new Mini Catalogue. Love it!! My final touch was a little folded Fine Art Ribbon which is super soft on the top right of the front of the card and then the splattery effects of the Champagne Shimmer Mist and a Water Painter!! Up next is the wonderful Michelle and her cool newspaper project from the Sale-a-bration catalogue!! We'd love you to join in the challenge with us too and you don't need a blog to do it!! Just upload your photo to our Facebook challenge page here!! Hello and Welcome to our Sunday night blog hop showing off the amazing inspiration of our Catalogues, and challenging you to join the fun too. This week we are CASEing from the Season of Glitz chapter in the Holiday catalogue. I have been inspired by the little tree box on the top left, and added some other new goodies from the Holiday Catalogue. My colours are Soft Sky, Dapper Denim and Smokey Slate with a dash of silver from the beautiful foil snowflake. I've also added some vellum as another softening layer of colour. The vellum has been embossed with the Winter Wonder embossing folder (snowflake) and the Quilt Top embossing folder - which is your favourite? I've added a metal rimmed pearl to finish off the sweet gift on the front of the card. I really hope you have a go at CASEing the CAtty too - you can add your projects inspired by the Season of Glitz chapter to our facebook challenge page here. Now it's time for you to hop along to see some more amazing inspiration from the design team inspired by the Season of Glitz chapter. Until next time, Happy Stamping. Hello and Welcome to our Sunday Night Blog Hop CASEING the CATTY. To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our Amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues. This week, we are CASEING an embossing folder project - and we have so many awesome folders to choose from in both catalogues. I decided to ink up the great Enjoy The Rhythm stamp set from our mini catalogue inspired by this great project on page 72 of the catalogue. This card also features the Merry Melody embossing folder. I've used the Tailor Made Tags for the main anchoring point for my greeting and image - just the same as the project in the catalogue. My tag includes some ribbon though, because, ribbon, you just have to!! I love the stunning Iridescent pearls too - subtle yet glorious! Inside the card features the same musical imagery and some extra embossing and ribbon at the base of the card. I hope you're inspired - make sure you keep hopping around everyone to see some great projects!! Up next is the marvellous Michelle Check out all the inspiration on our page here. Hello and Welcome to our Sunday Night Blog Hop and Challenge CASEING the CATTY. To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit, and we love to CASE from our Stampin' Up! catalogues (CATTY). THis week, we are CASEING from the All Occasions Chapter of our New Catalogue. I'm still at the gorgeous Seascape Bundle on page 12 of the Occasions chapter (last week, I CASED the other project featuring this bundle here) My cards are very similar but very different!! I've cased the layouts and the sponging on the die cuts for extra depth of colour but my cards have a white base and layering. I've added some texture to my seaweed, by embossing my stamped panel with the Bark embossing folder - love the watery effect from this folder!! My greeting has been stamped onto a label punched using the Label Me Lovely Punch. I just looooove the addition of the gorgeous Opal rounds for bubbly texture! Inside my card features more of the gorgeous images from the Seascape stamp set using Coastal Cabana and Mango Melody. My second card also features the Seascape stamp set and the gorgeous gold fish die cut from the Sea Life dies. Inside the card continues the theme from the front! I'm a huge fishy fan!! So I love this gorgeous bundle - these Sea Life dies can be partially die cut as well to create fun 3D looks - but I've cut them entirely out for these cards. UP next is the amazing and talented Rebecca!! You are always invited to join in the fun with us too over on our Facebook challenge page! You don't need a blog - just add your photo to the page!! cardmaking and papercraft with Stampin' Up!
Hello and Welcome to our Sunday Night challenge and blog hop CASEING the CATTY. To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit, and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues. This week, we are celebrating Bling!! What a brilliant idea for a CASE!! The challenge is to CASE a glitter or sparkly project. I've been inspired by the gorgeous layout on our header for this challenge featuring the stunning Fine Art Floral Suite. The beautiful Fine Art Floral designer paper features marvellous hand painted images with glorious brush strokes and pretty pretty colours. It ALSO has some coordinating Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate which has a sheet that fits perfectly over one of the designs. This adds a perfect Bling for our challenge!! Taking my first step from the "just thinking of you" card in the very centre of page 32 of the Mini Catalogue, I've removed the film from the back of the Acetate (the silver side) and then adhered it over the whole sheet of the coordinating Fine Art Floral paper. I then cut it up to fit onto 6 standard size cards. The front panels of the combined paper and acetate are 4" x 5" which leaves a strip of the paper to put on the inside of the card. To embellish my cards (not they needed much because this paper and acetate is GORGEOUS) I've featured one of the stamped images from the Art Gallery stamp set using Flirty Flamingo Ink for the base layer and then Poppy Parade Ink for the top two step image. Then I've used the Floral Art dies to cut out the flowers, and two labels from the same set - one for the greeting, and one for a strip of gold foil. You can actually purchase this stamp set and coordinating dies in a bundle and receive a 10% discount!! I've also added some extra bling with the lovely Fine Art ribbon and some Metallic pearls scattered over the front of the card. All of these cards are actually really simple, with the paper and acetate doing all the hard work AND looking wonderful!! Up next is the talented Michelle and her sweet kangaroo!! We would love you to join in the challenge with us too!! Find your favourite sparkles in the catalogue, CASE it, photograph it, and add it to our Facebook challenge page. Easy peasy! Do you know you could purchase this glorious Fine Art Floral Suite and earn a FREE sale-a-bration reward - BUT only for 1 MORE WEEK. Sale-a-bration ENDS NEXT SUNDAY 28th February! There is also ONLY one more week also to enjoy a BRILLIANT joining opportunity to be part of my team! Read all about it here!! (and if you join this week, you will receive $100 of gorgeous papers AS WELL AS the usual benefits!! Ask me more!) Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn. I'm part of a fantastic group of like minded crafters sharing inspiration in our monthly blog hop! This Month, we are sharing and featuring Watercolouring! Watercolouring is one of my favourite techniques - I can feel a bit artistic and not really need any skill!! The stamped images help do all the work for me! (And I do love the 'artistic look' of slightly messy watercolouring - no precision required!!) I'm featuring a NEW bundle/suite coming in our New Catalogue starting in May (perks of being a demonstrator is that I can get these things early!) called Country Woods. The background paper is the Country Woods DSP (and it has a look of watercolouring!!) and the stamp set is the Country Flowers stamp set. I've used watercolour paper and Saddle Brown stazon ink to stamp my images. I then added ink using a water painter. To add the ink, I smooshed my ink pad onto a stamping block, and then used my water painter to pick up the colour, water it down for changes in tone and shade, and then painted the image from the left to the right leaving some bits on the right side unpainted for light reflection. Inside the card is some more painted leaves and flowers just for fun!! Make sure you keep hopping to see LOTS of amazing projects!! I'm sure you'll love them all. Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn. Tonight I'm using the great Colour INKspiration challenge to help my cardmaking! The colours are just fantastic - and so easy to use for so many amazing projects! I created this card on our team day - one of my team brought along the Round We Go bundle and we all had a great time playing and creating rosettes! I've used the lovely Pretty in Pink DSP as well as the Dotty embossing folder to continue the circle theme suggested by the Round We Go bundle. Inside the card is a super fun fold inspired by the amazing Melissa Faust here I love the way this fold lets the card shine both on the front and inside!! The fold is quite easy to do and has so much potential for fun cards!! I've also used the lovely In Colour Shimmer Gems and Black bakers twine to continue the colour theme of our card tonight. This is a super card to give to someone super special! Here's a video creating this fun fold!! Enjoy! You can check out lots more ideas using this great colour challenge in our Facebook group. Hello and Welcome to another fabulous Sunday Night Blog Hop and Challenge CASEING the CATTY. Hello and Welcome to a brilliant colour combination!! The Colour INKspiration challenge is celebrating it's 5th birthday - woohoooooo!!! And here are the colours - which I love!!! Would you like to try this one too?? I was inspired by the photo as well as the colours and broke open my new bundle - Paradise Palms. I've used the Layering Diorama dies for my window to the scenery, and sponged the 'ocean' using blending brushes and Pacific Point with Coastal Cabana. The 'moon' and reflection were stamped using White ink. The reflection stamp is actually the grass stamp from the Paradise Palms stamp set - looks cool hey!! I created a little shaker window using window sheet and added glitter inside - which stuck to the white ink making it sparkle!! I love that!! I've also sponged a bit on the bottom of the inside panel of the card. What will you make with these colours? Grab out your gear and get creating!! INKspired to join the challenge? It's so easy. Hello and Welcome to our Sunday Night Blog Hop CASEING the CATTY. To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues. This week, we are CASEING anything from the Annual Catalogue - easy right??? So many amazing choices in our catalogue, but I used the challenge this week to help me get started on a card I need to create. I've used this gorgeous card featuring the Dainty Delight bundle on page 23 as my starting point. I loved the stunning colouring of the daisies to create the soft look. So I looked up the Project Recipe for the samples and saw that it was stamped very lightly with Pecan Pie and then coloured using ink and a blender pen which picks up the colours without making the ink run or bleed. I love the soft effect of the colours!! I have really simplified the card example from the catalogue because I was creating a Sympathy card and wanted a quieter card than the original. I only used 2 die cuts from the Dainty Delight bundle with Soft Sea Foam cardstock for a softer background. The blending was done with Lemon Lolly just to highlight the flowers a bit more. Inside the card repeats the same themes of colour and colouring. Make sure you keep hopping all the way around to see lots of great ideas to inspire you! Hello and Welcome to our Stampin' Up! Only Challenge - SUO! This time we are challenging you to create your project with the theme Out In the Garden. And, what could be more perfect than these divine daisies!! I've paired the fabulous Daisy Delight stamp set..... with the coordinating Delightful Daisy DSP - and what a wonderful pairing!! I've used the Daffodil Delight daisy paper and paired it with Always Artichoke and a touch of So Saffron and Early Espresso. I've also used the awesome and fun Wood Crate framelits to create a container for my daisies. This card is so full of spring beauty! It's a perfect card to display on the mantle. The card is a z fold so that it stands perfectly, and yet, it can still fit neatly into a standard envelope for postage. Daisys in a crate z fold card You Will Need: Stamp Set – Daisy Delight; Inks – Always Artichoke, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder; Extras – Daisy punch, Wood Crate framelits, ½” circle punch, sponge Paper: Card base, Delightful Daisy DSP pieces – 14 x 10cm, 7 x 10cm, 7 x 10cm; Wood Textures DSP pieces – 2 of 14cm x 5cm & 12cm x 2cm, coordinating cardstock for punching daisy heads, Always Artichoke for stalks, Whisper White piece for flower centres 1. Using the Wood Crate framelits and the 2 Wood Textures DSP pieces (5cm x 14cm) , die cut 2 crate pieces leaving off the base flap. You may need to trim the bottom of the crate so it’s straight. 2. Assemble the wood crate using double sided tape on the side flaps. 3. Stamp a greeting onto the top rung of the crate using Early Espresso Ink 4. Score the extra piece of Wood Textures DSP at 2cm and 10cm 5. Adhere the strip of wood textures DSP into the centre of the crate attaching the flaps at each end of the crate. This gives you an extra anchor point for your flowers. 6. Make sure you can fold the crate flat in both directions. 7. Adhere the Delightful Daisy DSP to each panel of your card and fold the card into a Z. 8. Attach the crate to the centre of the card – long side of the crate to the long side of the card. 9. Stamp the greeting onto the front of the card using Early Espresso ink 10. Using the daisy punch and cardstock, punch 10 flower heads 11. Sponge along the edges of each petal using coordinating ink 12. Using a bone folder gently bend the petals to look more realistic. 13. Stamp 5 flower centres onto the white cardstock using coordinating ink, and punch out using the ½” circle punch 14. Assemble the flower heads – 2 daisies offset together to make 5 flowers. 15. Attach the daisy centres 16. Cut very thin strips of Always Artichoke to make 5 stems for the flowers 17. Adhere the top of the each stem to the back of each flower and arrange them into the crate and adhere.
