Esta posibilidad se basa en la capa metálica de aluminio del soporte. (Se desconoce quien lo usó por primera vez en un Taller de Grabado Artístico. Pero se considera como muy posible que su primer intento de utilización como soporte artístico, se produjo dentro de la corriente de arte infantil, con la utilización de materiales cotidianos reciclados en las clases de arte en la Escuelas de nivel Inicial.)

La calcografía es una derivación de la técnica xilográfica, empleando planchas de metal en vez de tacos de madera. Se solía imprimir una fina hoja de aleación que simula el dorado sobre un papel previamente coloreado, lo que fue posible mediante el empleo del tórculo o prensa calcográfica, cuya fuerza no solo es capaz de transferir la aleación sino también de imprimir un cierto relieve a estos papeles. Por ello también se denominan papeles brocados, o incluso, dorados y brocados. Hicieron furor en Alemania en el siglo XIX y muchos se fabricaron en Augsburgo, de donde les viene otra denominación: “papeles de Augsburgo”. Chalcography is a derivation of the xylographic technique, using metal irons instead of wooden blocks. The printing of a thin sheet of alloy that simulates the gilding on a paper previously colored, was only possible by means of the employment of the chalcographic press, but its force is not only capable of transferring the alloy but also a certain relief, because of this there were named brocaded papers, or even, golden and brocaded papers. They did fury in Germany in the eighteenth century and many were made in Augsburg, from which another denomination comes to them: “Augsburg papers”. Los papeles brocados podían imprimirse en positivo, y el dorado aparecía en las formas del grabado; o en negativo, cubriendo las zonas en blanco del diseño. Empleando varios colores de papel base podía lograrse un verdadero muestrario con solo unas cuantas planchas distintas. Los temas eran muy variados, flores, vegetación, heráldica, chinescos, religiosos, o también animales y abecedarios que empleaban los colegiales para memorizar sus lecciones. Using several colors of paper base a real collection of samples could be achieved with only a few different metal irons. La calcografía es una derivación de la técnica xilográfica, empleando planchas de metal en vez de tacos de madera. Se solía imprimir una fina hoja de aleación que simula el dorado sobre un papel previamente coloreado, lo que fue posible mediante el empleo del tórculo o prensa calcográfica, cuya fuerza no solo es capaz de transferir la aleación sino también de imprimir un cierto relieve a estos papeles. Por ello también se denominan papeles brocados, o incluso, dorados y brocados. Hicieron furor en Alemania en el siglo XIX y muchos se fabricaron en Augsburgo, de donde les viene otra denominación: “papeles de Augsburgo”. Chalcography is a derivation of the xylographic technique, using metal irons instead of wooden blocks. The printing of a thin sheet of alloy that simulates the gilding on a paper previously colored, was only possible by means of the employment of the chalcographic press, but its force is not only capable of transferring the alloy but also a certain relief, because of this there were named brocaded papers, or even, golden and brocaded papers. They did fury in Germany in the eighteenth century and many were made in Augsburg, from which another denomination comes to them: “Augsburg papers”. Los papeles brocados podían imprimirse en positivo, y el dorado aparecía en las formas del grabado; o en negativo, cubriendo las zonas en blanco del diseño. Empleando varios colores de papel base podía lograrse un verdadero muestrario con solo unas cuantas planchas distintas. Los temas eran muy variados, flores, vegetación, heráldica, chinescos, religiosos, o también animales y abecedarios que empleaban los colegiales para memorizar sus lecciones. Brocade papers could be printed on positive, so the gilding was appearing in the forms of the engraving; or in negative, covering the white areas of the design. Using several colors of paper base a real collection of samples could be achieved with only a few different metal irons. The topics were very varied, flowers, vegetation, heraldry, Chinese, religious, or also animals and ABC that the schoolboys were using to memorize their lessons. El papel debía ser muy fuerte, debía tener mucho cuerpo para soportar este tipo de impresión y las planchas eran también muy gruesas, hasta de siete centímetros de ancho, para producir el relieve característico de esta técnica. Eran por ello de mucho precio y a veces un fabricante vendía alguna a otro; aunque había quien copiaba los diseños, y entonces, con un poco de mala cabeza, en una escena de caza, todos los cazadores resultaban ser zurdos... Between the designs of these papers there were enjoying great appreciation those showing alphabets, numbers, animals and other images to memorize, undoubtedly destined for the infancy. Goethe, remembering his youth in Frankfurt in 1755, speaks about the success of these sheets: … especially, in the market days, we disappeared of good grade into the crowd that usually pressed round the church of San Bartolomé… and there we carry ours quarters to buy sheets of coloured papers, with figures of animals stamped on gold. In the first pattern, number 40, a positive impression, the floral motive and the birds are golden; number 43 and 48 are negative impressions, the vegetable design remains in the original paper colour over a golden background. El papel podía utilizarse en su color blanco de fondo o pintado a mano en una pequeña gama de colores: amarillo, naranja, rojo y verde, así se podían realizar sucesivas impresiones de una misma plancha formando un muestrario y aumentando las posibilidades comerciales y el rendimiento económico de cada grabado. Los motivos vegetales son los más frecuentes, podían hacerse en una infinidad de diseños: flores, frutos, rameados; entrelazados o yuxtapuestos; grandes o pequeños. Eleven brocade and gilded papers with vegetable motives. The paper could be used in its white natural color or be hand painted in a small variety of colours: yellow, orange, red and green, this way successive impressions of the same block could be done, forming a collection of samples and increasing the commercial possibilities and the economic improvement of every engraving. La calcografía es una derivación de la técnica xilográfica, empleando planchas de metal en vez de tacos de madera. Se solía imprimir una fina hoja de aleación que simula el dorado sobre un papel previamente coloreado, lo que fue posible mediante el empleo del tórculo o prensa calcográfica, cuya fuerza no solo es capaz de transferir la aleación sino también de imprimir un cierto relieve a estos papeles. Por ello también se denominan papeles brocados, o incluso, dorados y brocados. Hicieron furor en Alemania en el siglo XIX y muchos se fabricaron en Augsburgo, de donde les viene otra denominación: “papeles de Augsburgo”. Chalcography is a derivation of the xylographic technique, using metal irons instead of wooden blocks. The printing of a thin sheet of alloy that simulates the gilding on a paper previously colored, was only possible by means of the employment of the chalcographic press, but its force is not only capable of transferring the alloy but also a certain relief, because of this there were named brocaded papers, or even, golden and brocaded papers. They did fury in Germany in the eighteenth century and many were made in Augsburg, from which another denomination comes to them: “Augsburg papers”. Los papeles brocados podían imprimirse en positivo, y el dorado aparecía en las formas del grabado; o en negativo, cubriendo las zonas en blanco del diseño. Empleando varios colores de papel base podía lograrse un verdadero muestrario con solo unas cuantas planchas distintas. Los temas eran muy variados, flores, vegetación, heráldica, chinescos, religiosos, o también animales y abecedarios que empleaban los colegiales para memorizar sus lecciones. Brocade papers could be printed on positive, so the gilding was appearing in the forms of the engraving; or in negative, covering the white areas of the design. Using several colors of paper base a real collection of samples could be achieved with only a few different metal irons. The topics were very varied, flowers, vegetation, heraldry, Chinese, religious, or also animals and ABC that the schoolboys were using to memorize their lessons. El papel debía ser muy fuerte, debía tener mucho cuerpo para soportar este tipo de impresión y las planchas eran también muy gruesas, hasta de siete centímetros de ancho, para producir el relieve característico de esta técnica. Eran por ello de mucho precio y a veces un fabricante vendía alguna a otro; aunque había quien copiaba los diseños, y entonces, con un poco de mala cabeza, en una escena de caza, todos los cazadores resultaban ser zurdos... The paper had to be very strong, had to have body great to support this type of impression and the irons were also very thick, even seven centimeters wide, to produce the relief typical of this technique. El papel podía utilizarse en su color blanco de fondo o pintado a mano en una pequeña gama de colores: amarillo, naranja, rojo y verde, así se podían realizar sucesivas impresiones de una misma plancha formando un muestrario y aumentando las posibilidades comerciales y el rendimiento económico de cada grabado. Los motivos vegetales son los más frecuentes, podían hacerse en una infinidad de diseños: flores, frutos, rameados; entrelazados o yuxtapuestos; grandes o pequeños. Eleven brocade and gilded papers with vegetable motives. The paper could be used in its white natural color or be hand painted in a small variety of colours: yellow, orange, red and green, this way successive impressions of the same block could be done, forming a collection of samples and increasing the commercial possibilities and the economic improvement of every engraving. La calcografía es una derivación de la técnica xilográfica, empleando planchas de metal en vez de tacos de madera. Se solía imprimir una fina hoja de aleación que simula el dorado sobre un papel previamente coloreado, lo que fue posible mediante el empleo del tórculo o prensa calcográfica, cuya fuerza no solo es capaz de transferir la aleación sino también de imprimir un cierto relieve a estos papeles. Por ello también se denominan papeles brocados, o incluso, dorados y brocados. Hicieron furor en Alemania en el siglo XIX y muchos se fabricaron en Augsburgo, de donde les viene otra denominación: “papeles de Augsburgo”. Chalcography is a derivation of the xylographic technique, using metal irons instead of wooden blocks. The printing of a thin sheet of alloy that simulates the gilding on a paper previously colored, was only possible by means of the employment of the chalcographic press, but its force is not only capable of transferring the alloy but also a certain relief, because of this there were named brocaded papers, or even, golden and brocaded papers. They did fury in Germany in the eighteenth century and many were made in Augsburg, from which another denomination comes to them: “Augsburg papers”. Los papeles brocados podían imprimirse en positivo, y el dorado aparecía en las formas del grabado; o en negativo, cubriendo las zonas en blanco del diseño. Empleando varios colores de papel base podía lograrse un verdadero muestrario con solo unas cuantas planchas distintas. Los temas eran muy variados, flores, vegetación, heráldica, chinescos, religiosos, o también animales y abecedarios que empleaban los colegiales para memorizar sus lecciones. Brocade papers could be printed on positive, so the gilding was appearing in the forms of the engraving; or in negative, covering the white areas of the design. Using several colors of paper base a real collection of samples could be achieved with only a few different metal irons. The topics were very varied, flowers, vegetation, heraldry, Chinese, religious, or also animals and ABC that the schoolboys were using to memorize their lessons. El papel debía ser muy fuerte, debía tener mucho cuerpo para soportar este tipo de impresión y las planchas eran también muy gruesas, hasta de siete centímetros de ancho, para producir el relieve característico de esta técnica. Eran por ello de mucho precio y a veces un fabricante vendía alguna a otro; aunque había quien copiaba los diseños, y entonces, con un poco de mala cabeza, en una escena de caza, todos los cazadores resultaban ser zurdos... The paper had to be very strong, had to have body great to support this type of impression and the irons were also very thick, even seven centimeters wide, to produce the relief typical of this technique. Between the designs of these papers there were enjoying great appreciation those showing alphabets, numbers, animals and other images to memorize, undoubtedly destined for the infancy. Como curiosidad citaremos a una de las escasas mujeres identificadas por este procedimiento, Apollonia Maiestetter, que se mantuvo en activo de 1720 a1747 y firmaba, como todos sus colegas, con distintas versiones de su nombre, de las que citamos dos: APOLONIA. The manufacturers of the brocade models were printing their names and other information, as the number of the design, their city, in the margins of the sheets, what has allowed us to identify many of them and to catalog a big part of their production. In the first pattern, number 40, a positive impression, the floral motive and the birds are golden; number 43 and 48 are negative impressions, the vegetable design remains in the original paper colour over a golden background. El papel podía utilizarse en su color blanco de fondo o pintado a mano en una pequeña gama de colores: amarillo, naranja, rojo y verde, así se podían realizar sucesivas impresiones de una misma plancha formando un muestrario y aumentando las posibilidades comerciales y el rendimiento económico de cada grabado. Los motivos vegetales son los más frecuentes, podían hacerse en una infinidad de diseños: flores, frutos, rameados; entrelazados o yuxtapuestos; grandes o pequeños. The paper could be used in its white natural color or be hand painted in a small variety of colours: yellow, orange, red and green, this way successive impressions of the same block could be done, forming a collection of samples and increasing the commercial possibilities and the economic improvement of every engraving. Phenomenon is a ceramic project able to express textures deriving from nature in an original way, not simply to reproduce their look but to evoke an emotion. The collection integrates almost microscopic substances into the ceramic material, creating a visual effect of depth and breadth on the surface. The collection makes references to different expressions of natural patterns such as honeycombs, snowflakes, needle ice, plant cells, evoking memories of natural scenes and individual experiences of the natural world. On the occasion of the new edition, Phenomenon is enriched with 3 new colours – Blu, Rosa and Verde – which join the 4 historical ones – Bianco, Grigio, Fango and Nero –, each of which is offered on all the available elements: Honeycomb A, Honeycomb B, Rock, Air, Wind, Rain A, Rain B and Rain C. The distinctive “powdery” effect is obtained by combining coloured bodies and dry colouring. This process makes it possible to develop a product in unglazed full-body porcelain stoneware which is characterised by a particular natural and tactile look and feel. In addition, the use of personalised mixtures allows for the creation of unique and original shades. Phenomenon is a craft product: each element is pressed in the smallest possible size and precisely refined by hand to create a mix of technique and innovation, guaranteeing the highest quality.The range also includes the new Phenomenon Glossy: the Honeycomb B, Rock and Rain A modules have been chosen to experiment the glossy finish for the first time, featuring the Bianco, Nero, Oro and Argento shades. The extremely small size of the tesserae has made it necessary to set up a new production process that combines industrial and craft approaches with the objective of making the finish stand out as much as possible: production is entirely by hand and the manufacturing process has been specially redesigned. The applied glazes bring out the effects of light and shadow, already present in the non-glazed version.These innovative mosaics are so slim and light that the company has filed a patent application in order to protect the collection (Industrial Patent filed on 02/09/2010 under number: MO2010A000247).
