10x GIANT THORNY BAMBOO SEEDS (Bambusa Arundinacea) . This is one of the tallest ‘grasses’ in the world. A true giant, it has numerous branches at the nodes with one or two being exceptionally large with many stems tufted onto a stout root stock. Although best known in warm humid temperate areas, it can be easily grown as a pot plant or for impressive summer bedding. Its young shoots are consumed as food in some parts of China and India and new shoots start growing slowly, but soon grow approximately 30cm per day. Indeed 75 cm in one day has been recorded in Sri Lanka. Its hard wood is also used by Chinese craftsmen in household carpentry, furniture, and boxes. This offer is for 10 fresh seeds supplied in plain packaging to enable economy pricing. Germination instructions also included.

Bambusa 'Green Giant' is a 2011 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction. It started its life years earlier when we spotted a green mutation on our clump of Bambusa 'Alphonse Karr'. The removed sport grew to Sasquatch proportions (25' tall x 8' wide at the base), making it perfect to hide neighbors junked cars (subcompacts to full size). Our original clump does see some tip damage at 14 degrees F, but has much better winter hardiness than the other Bambusa multiplex cultivars we grow and doesn't die to the ground like Bambusa 'Alphonse Karr' at the same temperatures. Our largest canes are well over 1" diameter. Although it doesn't run, Bambusa 'Green Giant' still takes up plenty of space...so site it correctly.

Growing bamboo in Missouri is an issue that many people are concerned. Here's everything you need to know to grow and care for bamboo.
