Do your children/students get confused with their global address? Do they understand about cities, states, countries, and continents? This geography concept can be difficult for lots of students. Here's a little "toy" (manipulative) to help students! :) Stacking Cups Global Address These fun stacking cups which were developed for very, very, very young kids to manipulate can help you teach geography to kids! I had a few of these sets in my classroom a number of years ago for my students. The kids really enjoyed using them and the stacking cups helped them visualize the concept of a global address! The set I now have comes with 8 cups. Depending on the ages of your students, you will have to decide if you want to use all 8 or perhaps start with less cups. You can begin with a home address or a school address (on the smallest cup) and proceed from there depending on what geography terms you want your students to learn. Here are a few examples. Adjust them for your students. street, city or town, state, country, continent, hemisphere, planet, galaxy street, city or town, county, state, country, continent, planet, galaxy classroom, school, city or town, state, country, continent, planet, galaxy On my sets, I would write the geography terms on the lip of each cup with a permanent marker but you could write on the side or even in the cups if you prefer. If you don't want to use a marker you could use labels on each cup. As they kids stack the cups, they could name their particular street, city, state, etc. I have a little worksheet that the kids can use to fill in their own unique global address.
