My children are having such a good time with our fruits and vegetables unit study this week! I hope you're enjoying these posts and I especially hope they help you with some ideas for your own fruits and vegetables unit study. This weekend, I'll publish a post listing all of the resources we used and books we read, so make sure you stop back by for that! Today I'm sharing with you the Vegetable 3-Part Cards that my younger girls are using this week. Vegetable 3-Part Cards This post contains affiliate links. When you walk into a traditional preschool, the first thing you might notice is the classroom decore. Bright, colorful decorations often fill the walls in a traditional classroom. Plastic toys may clutter your view. In a traditional Montessori classroom, on the other hand, you will see only a few carefully…
This free activity set for the Constructive Blue Triangles is a great springboard for exploration with the Constructive Blue Triangles. After initial presentations to the set, you can introduce the child to this activity set. I would only place a few easily produced cards in a basket to begin with. For children at multiple levels I would recommend that more advanced work be kept separate from beginning work. This is by no means a comprehensive set. There are hundreds of possibilities. This set can help to whet the appetite especially for children who are a little less sure of their own ideas. Constructive Blue Triangles Activity Set click on picture to link to file I totally recommend Montessori Outlet if you want a great quality and inexpensive set of the triangles. You could also opt for a printed set (this set does not give quite the same effect as the thicker sets). You can find a great link to several free sensorial files here. I have found that by the time I printed them out - using my ink - and laminated them for my own durability, I had almost spent as much as to purchase them. This is a great link on the presentation of the Constructive Blue Triangles Set. This is a file to make a Constructive Blue Triangles Pasting Activity that can be used along with the manipulative set and this activity set. Several copies of this file need to be printed on blue paper and cut out. No laminating is necessary. You can set them out for children to cut by themselves or they can be set out already cut. Let the children dry set them first and then paste them in place on white pieces of paper. Constructive Blue Triangles Pasting Activity click on picture to link to file

Thank God for Montessori activities for the last 2 weeks! Here are the most used activities by my 13 months old. He is in a big phase of putting in or putting on, and mobility, so you will that most of these activities reflect just that. Fine motor skills/ Activités de motricité fine: The "bank" / la tirelire This is by far his favorite at the current time. He can work on that for up to 30 minutes non stop. I have given his 5 chips to go with it, and he goes on and on again. This is a top I made for my permanence object box with interchangeable lid. This is one thing I am SO SO happy that I made! Putting highlighter caps on and off / mettre et enlever les bouchons de crayons This is an activity he basically asked for. Any time he saw a pen, he was doing this. So we just organized it to be safe for him, and for the rest of the house. This is part of a toy we had for DD. I only got out the rods and the base. There are rings to go with that, but he has no interest in that part yet. He loves loves loves this one, and I plan on making this for him. I am sure it will be a perfect match for his current developmental phase, and it is very easy to make. Je prévois cette extension pour cette activité dans quelques jours inserting and removing different cards from a old wallet / mettre et enlever des cartes de différentes texture dans un vieux portefeuille This activity was born after I saw E play with Daddy's wallet beside me while I was really sick. At that point, I honestly couldn't care less what he was doing with the cards, but I made a point to have a wallet for him in the next few days. Yes, he knows how to use it... Oui, il sait comment s'en servir! walking with aid / Marcher avec une voiturette He took his first step on September 8th, but he still feels like he needs practicing before letting go Il a fait ses premiers pas, mais il ne se sent pas encore prêt à se lâcher. playing with Tam tams / taper sur des tamtams Always a success. Toujours un succès Language activities: naming animals with cards / nommer des animaux de la ferme avec des cartes The cards I am using here are the Wee gallery ones. THey still fascinate him. Ce sont les cartons de Wee gallery Naming and making the sound of common farm animals / nommer et imiter les animaux de la ferme Looking outside (or take a walk) and naming to what he points / Regarder dehors et nommer ce qu'on voit looking at books / les livres whether they are the right side or not... Qu'ils soient du bon coté ou non... have a great day!
As our children get older our home environments get more diverse. Often Montessori infant environments look really similar but as the child gets older we tailor the environment to their individual needs and preferences. Today I'm looking at some of our home environments for Otis at five years! Above work shelves and a little reading corner. Work shelves (earlier in the year). A Writing Station. Spring Nature Table. Home reference library. Art shelves updated. At five years we gave Otis access to a little baking area, he can put his electric skillet here and bake using the toaster oven. It...
