Father's Day is just around the corner and this little freebie will be perfect for whipping up a sweet card or recording memories for the dad in your life. And the
This is a simple, yet beautiful card. This picture was the inspiration for this card. It came out when doing a google search on cloudy sunsets. This can always give you an idea of beautiful transitions for your projects. I used two different stamp sets from OAK Tree Stamps: Animal Parade - Harriet the Hippo, for the character and the sentiment Animal Parade Accessories - Let's Have a Party for the birthday hat and balloons. I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink for COPIC coloring and did a very simple 3 shade coloring and a Signo Uniball white gel pen for the highlights. I like using a Sakura Glaze black gel pen to make the eyes pop I cut 3 pieces of each shape with my Cricut, using the Electronic Dies that OAK Tree Stamps distributes for their stamps. I glued them together to give each of the cutouts a lot of dimension. Harriet was glued flat on the card and the hat and the balloons where glued on top of the character and a little foam tape was used behinf the top of the hat and the balloons themselves to keep them evenly raised. For the balloons I added a lot of Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, a product similar to Ranger's Glossy Accents but way less expensive. I made sure to do one balloon at a time, letting it dry completely between applications to allow for them to be separately raised. Now for the background, and this is where the SVG makes its entrance, I used paper stencils to ink a piece of Neenah Solar White Cardstock using Distress Inks and a Mini Blending Tool. I used a large Stitched Rectangle Die from Lawn Fawn and since I wanted all those faux stitches to stay nice and noticeable, I inked the piece of cardstock first and then I run it through my Cuttlebug. To make sure I stayed true to my design I marked the outside of the die using a pencil and aligned the cutouts to the bottom line. Using a very light hand Start form the top with Dried Marygold Distress Ink. Work your way down with Spun Sugar, Milled Lavender and Shaded Lilac. Just make sure that your inking does not touch the previous layer to avoid color contamination. Finally, secure the die in place using masking tape and run it through your Embossing Machine. I finished the card using sequins and enamel dots in colors similar to the background. On top of the sequins I added a dot of Vivadecor Pearl Pen in cream color. I love the way they look like little flowers. The SVG comes with the clouds, the stamps outlines and the stitched rectangle, although for these projects, I really like the cleaner cut that a metal die gives to the large background piece, instead of the harsh edge of the machine cut. Death and dying are part of my work life. It's hard to run from it as an Oncology nurse. I hope, in the very least, to provide comfort to those I do care for as they pass and console those that are left behind. A very good friend of mine recently lost a loved one, so I thought I would make her a card just to let her know I was thinking of her. For this project, I used a few SVG Cuts files that I have altered to come up with this card. Click on the links below to see which kits the files came from. Happy Friday! This week I made a quatrefoil design for myself. I'm not sure yet what I want to use it for- a stencil? A stamp? Or cut it 12x12 from textured cardstock and fill the back with patterned paper…

Hi everyone and welcome to my new followers. Today I have a freebie rose design which you can use either as a topper or frame. It is quite delicate and some of the parts are quite small so take care when lifting it from your carrier sheet. I cut it on 160 gsm card as I think that is an ideal weight for this sort of design. The Summer of the Friday Freebie continues today with this totally fun frame. It's got the look of a Polaroid, but with a 'twist of line'. ;) I'm totally digging negative space these days, so this just hits the spot for me.

I recently had the awesome pleasure of meeting Katrina Hunt in person and attending a weekend crop at Scrapbook Generation. I'm originally from Missouri, which is where Scrapbook Generation is located, so I decided to incorporate meeting her and attending the crop during a trip to see my family. It was a wonderful weekend and one I will always treasure! It's so wonderful to meet people and learn how truly awesome they are. I truly believe that I have a new best friend for the rest of my life! While we were there, we of course had to take a selfie. Katrina printed it and then we each scrapbooked it. Katrina posted her She #Roadtripped layout last week. Today, I'm sharing my take on it using the BoBunny Sweet Life collection along with lots of fun embellishments, including a doily just for Katrina! To create the title, I used Therm O Web's Deco Foil and Hot Melt Adhesive. If you are interested in how I did this, you can check out the Foiled Die Cut Tutorial I created and shared on the Therm O Web blog. It's one of my favorite ways to work their foil, however, I have branched out and tried some new techniques that I will be sharing with you very soon! For the first day of OnlineCardClasses.com's Stenciled class, I was inspired by Debby's sponging technique to make this valentine: I'm only about 80% satisfied with this...but it's late, and I have more cards and a design team project to make tomorrow, so this is my final answer. I sponged the background with Memento Luxe inks over a stencil I made using the new Silhouette stencil material (still love this stuff!). The sentiment and flower (SSS Thinking of You set from the February card kit) were stamped in Versamark ink on heavy vellum and heat embossed in white. I added some enamel dots, tiny sequins, and fuchsia jute from American Crafts to finish off the card. If you'd like to cut this stencil yourself using your Silhouette, please feel free to download the Studio file I designed by clicking on the thumbnail below: I'll be offering free Studio cut files from time to time on my blog but won't be labeling the posts as such, so I hope you'll subscribe by using the little box in the top right corner as this will be the easiest way to find them. Thanks for stopping by and I'd love to hear your comments!
