Hi Stampers! Here in Southeastern Indiana it is definitely winter, but the FLOWERING RAIN BOOTS BUNDLE brings a touch of spring to the cold snowy days. The. FLOWERING RAIN BOOTS BUNDLE is found in the STAMPIN’ UP!®️ JANUARY - JUNE 2022 MINI CATALOG. In today’s post we’ll take a look at the stamps and dies, and I’ll share some tips for using them. Be sure to watch the video for more tips and demonstrations. Let’s take a look at some cards I made using the bundle. FLOWERING RAIN BOOTS BUNDLE (Flowering Rain Boots stamp set & Rain Boots Dies) FLOWERING RAIN BOOTS BUNDLE PRODUCT DETAIL VIDEO FLOWERING RAIN BOOTS STAMP SET IMAGES As you can see the stamped images contain a lot of “highlights,” the white patches. I like the look, but there are times when I’d prefer a bit more color on the image. I have two methods to add more color to the images. The first is stamp the image on colored cardstock. Use ink that is a shade or so darker than the cardstock. (See Rain or Shine card.) The second method is stamp the image and use a blending pen to move the ink around. This adds a hint of color to the white areas. See the sample below. The top flower pot is stamped in Cajun Craze ink. The bottom image is stamped with Cajun Craze ink, and gone over with a blending pen. Is the FLOWERING RAIN BOOTS stamp set a Two Step stamp set? Technically no, but sort of - if stamping the tulip blooms and stems/leaves directly on a card panel -yes, that would be a two step process. What if you want to stamp the tulips and stems/leaves images to make them look as though they are coming out of the boot (or the pot, or the watering can) it will take a little masking. Let’s take a look at the images below, and you’ll see what I mean. I masked the top line on each boot then stamped the stems/leaves on the image to the left. I did no masking on the image on the right. The RAIN BOOTS DIES contains 9 dies. Seven of the dies cut out the images in the stamp set. One of the remaining dies cuts out a hand rake (garden tool), and the other cuts out a lattice image. (See photo below.) (Watch the video for more information and tips on using the lattice die.) Hand Rake Die Three Ways 1. For the rake on the left I die cut two images; one from Real Red cardstock, and one from Silver Foil. (The Silver Foils sheets from the Stampin’ Up! June - December 2021Mini Catalog carried over, and are still available for order.) I cut the handle off the Real Red die cut and adhered it to the Silver Foil image. 2. The rake in the center was die cut from Basic White cardstock, then colored with Real Red and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Markers. 3. The rake on the right was also cut from Basic White cardstock, then colored with Real Red (dark) and Smoky Slate (light) Stampin’ Blends. ADHESIVE SHEETS The hand rake and lattice die cuts have very little area to apply adhesive. To adhere the hand rake and lattice die cuts I recommend using the ADHESIVE SHEETS. Simply cut your cardstock to the size you need. Cut the adhesive sheet to the same size. Peel off the backing on one side and adhere it to the “back” side of the cardstock. Place the die on the cardstock and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (die cut machine) as usual. To adhere the die cut to your card panel, peel the backing off the die cut to reveal the adhesive. Position the die cut where you want it on your card and give it a gentle press.
