Title: Curly Cue This is probably the most lively tulip I've ever seen. It's energetic and so fun it can't help but make you smile. Dramatically glowing on a dark background it dances off the wall. This is my first square Floralscape painting and I love how it came out! The print looks just as good. Just smaller! Image size: 10" x 10" unframed Paper size: 14" x 11" The original watercolor is painted on heavy 300# Arches cold press paper and shows its full deckled edge as does this giclee print. It comes with a signed Certificate of Limited Edition. It is backed with foam core and protected in a clear bag. The original may be still in this shop. Check it out. For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them. This painting is a rare showing of the shape of the flower in my art but I recently did several you can see in this shop. I was honored to be the gold medal winning poster artist for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in 2016 with my watercolor painting of a tulip bouquet. In 2012 I qualified to be a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS). This is earned by being juried into a select number of local chapter and international watercolor society shows sponsored by NWWS. The initials now follow my signature on my watercolor paintings. I've been receiving many award in the juried shows. Editions: 1/100, 2/100 © Sandy Haight. All rights reserved.

I was inspired to paint a huge vertical Floralscape for the big wall at the entry to my show at the July 2021 Art Walk on Bainbridge Island. This painting was a challenge of complexity and scale but the image called out to be larger than life so the viewer could just dive into the flower. I've been painting large flowers that I call Floralscapes that explore the inside of the bloom rather than the shape of it against a background. It becomes more abstract and sensual even though it is based on representational references. I love the luminous transparency of watercolor, the sensual glow of the colors and the fact that the paint can move and flow on its own while wet, intermingling with other colors. Magic happens. This painting 29" x 41" painting is framed with a white metal contemporary frame and floats on archival foam core with its deckle edges on display. The white around the art adds 5" to each side making the frame size 41" x 54". It is stunning! Contact me for pricing of this painting unframed and shipped in a tube.
