If you are looking for a way to get your students to enjoy writing, I have the perfect resource for you! By offering a variety of categories and allowing your students to choose a topic, your students will be asking you to write! Students can view their options, select something they want to work on, and then be instructed on how to write it through a step-by-step approach. They then test their new writing skills with simple practice pages that you can review and provide feedback on. This interactive system is tested and trusted by thousands of teachers! With this resource, you will receive... 40 Interactive Word Wall Headers - I offer these headers a variety of formats for you to choose from. You can choose between two fonts, colored printing, black and white, etc. There are 240 in all to choose from! 40 Sampler Cards: These will accompany your headers on your bulletin board, trifold, or board display. They give your students a brief look at what each task will require them to do. There are 160 in all to choose from! 214 Instructional, Sample, and Student Work Pages: There is a wide range of complexity within the topics. See them below. My goal was so that there were tasks that would be easy for everyone to tasks that took a bit more planning and thought. Answer Keys: Please note that most of the tasks do not require an answer key. The majority will simply be assessed by you to see whether or not each student truly understands the topic(s) they are working on. Covers: Covers will be placed on the front of your designated Writing Center bin, the front of your Folder Station, and on student folders. I offer a variety of each, so that you can choose which color and/or format fits you and your classroom best. The cover for the Writing Center bin provides directions on how students should utilize the center. Student Tracking Forms: It will be critical that students have a place to record when they began a task, when a task ends, teacher signature of approval, and grade given by you. Every time they complete a task, the you will sign off on these forms. Student/Teacher Discussion Form: This is a great communication tool. When you check student work within their folders, you will check their discussion forms to see if they are struggling with a certain topic. You can leave comments for the student to read, such as a date that you will work to resolve their concerns. Student Tickets of Concern: Students have the option of turning in a "Ticket of Concern" when something is troubling them. It is yet another option of communication between the student and the teacher. Center Feedback Tickets: You can choose to give these to your students every time they complete a center or not. I love them, because they are a simple way for your students to say if a task was "too easy," "just right," or "too difficult." Display Letters for a Bulletin Board: These letters say "Let's Write!" They are available in both backline format and a colored option that matches the colors used in the headers. Decorative Pencils for Bulletin Board Printable Tabs for Hanging File Folders All of the Original Writing Center Files!! Detailed guidance on how you can use this resource in your classroom. REMEMBER THAT YOU DO NOT NEED A BULLETIN BOARD! You can choose to display a couple of topics to your students a week if you would like. You are in complete control! An overview of materials included and how to utilize them. Students truly begin to learn what it means to be a GREAT CITIZEN. Students connect with lesson concepts and begin using the vocabulary associated with being a GREAT CITIZEN. This unit is easy to teach because the lesson format for each trait is the same. OUR STORY We have taught first grade for quite a few years and, although we know there is so much to teach in first grade, a top priority of ours is to help students truly understand what it means to be a GREAT CITIZEN. However, it hasn't been easy for us to find quality resources to thoughtfully teach GREAT citizenship skills. We found ourselves scrounging for ideas each year. We finally decided to create a rich, comprehensive citizenship unit. Our students LOVE it and we hope yours will too. FAQ How long does each lesson take? Each lesson takes between one and two days. However, if you choose, you can always go at a slower pace depending on your schedule. What is the best time of year to teach this unit? This citizenship unit can be taught anytime during the year. Even though many teachers like to establish a respectful and caring environment right from the "get go" of school, it is never too late to teach these important skills. Is it important to teach the lessons in order? The only lesson that needs to be taught at a certain time is Lesson 1 because it is an overview of the unit. The GREAT citizen traits can be taught in any order. Is it essential that students engage in ALL the components of the lesson? If you are in a time crunch, please feel free to pick and choose activities that you feel your students need. The must-do's for us are the Read Alouds, Student Books, Activities of the Day, and Poems. Have a wonderful day! Becky and Cindy at Primary Bliss Teaching - Where fun and learning collide!

Two blog posts in one month? Are you shocked!? :) I seriously am trying to give my blog a little more TLC because it has been the first thing to go in the craziness of this year. So cheers to two posts so far! Happy February! Can you believe it? I am {thankfully} shocked that it is already February. I was ready to pack up my winter decorations and cover my room with pink and red! If you have seen my pictures of my classroom, there is a lot going on in there, and holidays add even more decorations. I always wondered if my kiddos were going to suffer from a little stimuli overload, but they LOVE IT! Two weeks into January, I had students asking when I was going to change the decorations! I told them we had only had winter decorations up since Christmas (two weeks at that point) and had to wait haha They will be happy to walk into the room on Monday and see hearts :) I will post pictures tomorrow because you know Valentine's Day means new curtains and a new monkey costume too! If you have missed my monkey costumes, here are a few of his wardrobe changes so far: This is how he started out the school year.....Classy with the zebra and blue theme of my classroom :) Then he became a pumpkin for October and a turkey for November! I forgot to take a picture of him as an elf in my classroom, which was my favorite costume so far! But here he is sitting at my parents' house when he got "sized" for his costume :) That hat fills an entire garbage bag and another bag for just the shoes! This was no small elf! I am kicking myself for not snapping a picture of him as a snowman! He had a full white snowball suit, top hat, boots, scarf and mittens. I will post a picture of his Valentine's day ensemble with my classroom decoration pictures. I do NOT take credit for these adorable costumes. My mom makes them all! She creates the jumbo patterns for all of them and makes them out of felt. I have one talented mama! :) And I know she reads my blogs (so even if no one else does, I always have an audience! ha!) so thanks Mom :) So! Lots of things to share about today. One day I am going to be one of those bloggers that have very focused blog posts and they have themes for each day to talk about.....someday....won't be today, so here we go :) This week has been crazy busy in Rm 133. We have been learning about Fact & Opinion in reading and the kiddos love it! They have really been *getting* the difference this week. Although they have had some fact and opinion in lower grades, we started with a fun activation activity with Goldfish Facts & Opinions. I love to teach with food....I know I can't feed my students all the time, but my gosh it helps them learn! ha! So goldfish it was.... I gave the kiddos cards with facts and opinions about goldfish crackers. Each partner pair got a set and then each table got a bag of goldfish crackers so they could use the bag to "verify" and "prove" (some of our fact signal words) which ones were true. Students had to read the nutrition facts, small print, etc. They spent a lot of time searching that package, so they certainly know a lot about these orange snacks by now! I have made SO many materials for Fact and Opinion, I am finally going to bundle them into a pack for my TpT store. I have been so obsessed with creating clipart this year that I haven't posted a new lesson pack to my store since September! My gosh! Anyway, this will be included in the pack, along with anchor charts, matching games, foldables, recording sheets, graphic organizers, games, and more! Like I said, I've been creating! I'll keep you posted on when it's done :) Do you like the borders on the sorting mats? They are part of my newest border pack: Border MEGA Pack 2! I have been wanting some new borders because although I probably have hundreds, I needed a change in my "go-to" borders. I have been creating a few different packs of borders in the last few weeks. I posted my newest one yesterday and I think it's my favorite!! Not kidding! I really tried to make some different borders than what I have seen out there. I could only fit a few of them in the preview image above. Some of them are simple and others are more elaborate, so can you spice up the simplest resource with just a single border. A lot of them would work great as frames too because they have that "look" to them. If you want to check them out, you can click on the picture above, or you can click {HERE}. Here are some closer up thumbnails of six of the frames. There are 34 frames in this pack for just $4.00! But, in the spirit of Saturday and for all my border lovers out there, here are two of them for {FREE} so you can check out the style and variety :) Just click {HERE} to download them in png formats :) Click {Here} and {Here} for the downloads....I didn't know how to combine them :) If you haven't checked out my other border sets I have some others. Border Mega Pack 1 and Borderz Bundle If you have made it this far through the post.....thank you! Now I know why bloggers try to make their posts more focused! This has been a marathon for an out of shape blogger. On a last note.....I'm having a sale at my TpT shop on Sunday and Monday (Feb. 3-4th)! Everything will be 20% off and then TpT is giving everyone a coupon code for an additional 10% off. That combines to an overall 28% off (because the 10% coupon comes off of the already discounted price). Stock up on all your TpT favorites while the gettin's good! Don't forget to use the code SUPER when you check out to get the additional 10% off! Here are some of my newest products if you have been eyeing them :) Click on the previews if you want a closer look! Okay that's all! I promise more focused, shorter posts in the future. Phew. Have a great Saturday!!

You will score a homerun with your students with this engaging, rigorous, and fun 9 Innings of Learning activity pack! I decided to plan a baseball day in my reading classroom for MLB opening day (Go Cards!) so that I could review a variety of skills and strategies. In this pack, there are 9 innings, or activities. Those activities include: 1st Inning -- Commas at the Ballpark 2nd Inning -- Comparing Two Legends (Stan Musial and Ozzie Smith) 3rd Inning -- Hitting Fact and Opinion Out of the Park 4th Inning -- Frequently Confused Words 5th Inning -- Prefixes vs. Suffixes Starting Lineup 6th Inning -- The Best Baseball Food Is.... Opinion Writing 7th Inning -- It’s All in the Cards 8th Inning -- Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jack...Baseball Foods on a Bar Graph 9th Inning -- From Union Park to Busch Stadium Timeline For some of the activities (Commas at the Ballpark, Hitting Fact and Opinion Out of the Park, Frequently Confused Words, Prefixes vs. Suffixes Starting Lineup), I created anchor charts for students to refer to. When I did this with my students, I copied the activity pages and anchor charts into packets so that students had their own anchor chart to make notes on if needed. Some of my students had never tried peanuts or CrackerJack so we had a taste test when everyone completed their 9 Innings of Learning. This gave us an opportunity to talk about adjectives and make predictions! #baseball #openingday #stlouiscardinals
