La Inglaterra del siglo XVI ha sido -como no podía ser menos debido a su asombrosa brillantez- fuente de inspiración para buen número de películas. Entre ellas, las dedicadas a la reina Isabel I y su época se llevan, sin duda, la palma, probablemente porque en su dilatado reinado albergó infinidad de hechos y personajes interesantes, empezando por su propia y singular figura. Elizabeth, los años dorados, la segunda película del director Shekhar Kapur sobre la hija de EnriqueVIII y Ana Bolena, la reina más gloriosa de Inglaterra, es una buena película histórica. Magníficamente ambientada (siempre loable esa capacidad de los profesionales británicos para recrear el pasado con detalle), con un guión -a cargo de Michael Hirst y William Nicholson- interesante y con unas interpretaciones realmente adecuadas y vibrantes en su mayoría (Cate Blanchett, Clive Owen, Geoffrey Rush, Tom Hollander, Abbie Cornish, Samantha Morton, Eddie Redmayne, Jordi Mollá), es un film que se deja ver con agrado tanto por los aficionados al cine histórico como -también- por el público en general.
