VII Photo was founded in September 2001 by seven independent photojournalists. It became synonymous with courageous and impactful journalism during the aftermath of 9/11 and the chaos that followed as the narrative of a new century was being written. In spring 2023, The VII Foundation acquired VII Photo, and it ceased to be a photographer-owned agency and became part of the foundation’s non-profit ecosystem.
Photojournalism is a "massively oversaturated profession," Kashi said. But don't fret — the VII photographer has tips on how to find success.
‘This image was a breakthrough. I began to see the world anew’
Saigon's motorbike craze is one of the heralds of the Vietnam's cultural and economic rejuvenation. Traffic congestion is a new phenomenon for Saigon, which has been dubbed "Scooter City." Saigon on Wheels, 1994 - by Ed Kashi www.anastasia-photo.com/ed-kashi-portfolio Vintage Bicycles in Vietnam: Ed Kashi’s ‘Saigon on Two Wheels’ June 5, 2013 www.papillionaire.com/blog/bicycles-vietnam-photography-t... Ed Kashi is a noted photographer whose work ranges from journalistic to the experimental. He’s traveled across the world, published a number of books and has won a number of awards for his photography in the process. He’s also on Instagram (!). And starting today in New York City his series “Saigon on Wheels” will be on display at the Anastasia Gallery in Manhattan. The show documents Kashi’s time in Saigon, Vietnam in 1994. Wanting to photograph the emerging youth culture in Vietnam’s capital at the time, Kashi quickly changed courses and instead spent two weeks, 6-hours a day on a motorcycle photographing the bustling city streets full of motorbikes and bicycles. The candid, in-the-moment nature of the photographs caught our attention due to the large number of city bicycles traversing the dusty streets of Saigon side-by-side with motorcycles. In a place like NYC where bicycles are relegated to their own, specific lanes, we dug the cultural differences found through Kashi’s lens where traffic runs virtually uncontrolled and the popular mode of transportation is on two wheels. If you are in NYC, be sure to bicycle down to Anastasia gallery to check out the show. If you are outside of the city, we suggest heading on over to their website to check out some of the images. The show runs through August 18th.

First edition first impression large format hardback in new condition. If the decisive moment reflects reality in tune with the photographer’s intuition, flawlessly combining composition and timing, then the abandoned moment is the consequence of a fractional instant of surrender. This collection, made over a 40-year period by renowned photographer Ed Kashi, reveals imprecise glimpsesof transitory events filled with frenetic energy – the chaos of everyday life. Embodying photography’s intrinsic power, they preserve moments that can never occur again in exactly the same time and space. When geometry, mood, and possibility unite to unintentionally create something new, the magical and fictional qualities of still photography capture the unplanned essence of existence. In contrast to his journalistic approach of deep personal connection and keen observation, this work is about capturing the untamed energy of a moment with abandon.

A vintage signed Aliza Kashi Album from 1969, and distributed by Jubilee Records. This Album is signed by Aliza Kashi. The outer cover does have some staining on the front side. The spine is in good shape, and it is kept in a protective outer cover to prevent any further damage. The album itself is in very good shape. I have listened to both sides, and it sounds beautiful. Aliza Kashi is a popular Israeli singer, often seen on the Merv Griffin Show, The Ed Sullivan Show (1940's) and What's My Line (1950's). This mid-1960's Stereo LP includes English and multi-language songs, including: Those Were the Days, Lo mucho que te quiero, Quando m'innamoro, All Alone Am I, Lift Your Glasses High, Take Me in Your Arms, Let It Be Me, Le bicyclettes de Belsize, Other Birthdays Other Years, Moscow Nights. Label: Jubilee – JGS 8025 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album Country: US Released:1969 Genre: Jazz, Pop, Stage & Screen Style: Vocal I love music, and still listen to my albums. I have a lot of vinyl albums. They span 4 decades, so I will be listing them in my shop by decade over the next few months. I have listened and played every single one of them. All of them have been gently used over the years. In general, older ones from the 50's and early 60's do show signs of their age, but they play, and they don't sound bad at all. I still listen to my albums from the 70's and 80's. I grew up with all of them, and they all have a great story or memory behind them. If you would like to know the matrix/runouts for any of the albums I have just send me a convo or any other questions.

I started traveling to Syria in 1991 as part of my first project with National Geographic magazine documenting the struggle of the Kurds. I’ve returned a number of times for different reportages, and since the Syrian civil war tragically developed out of the hope of the Arab Spring in 2010, I’ve watched with disquiet and […]
