Because this is Really Important, yes it is!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge emerged onto the steps of the Lindo Wing this evening to present their new daughter to the world. As the couple appeared with the baby cheers and a flurry of excitement was evident as global media attempted to capture the historic moment. The princess is simply beautiful. She was asleep in her mother's arms and wrapped in a knitted cream hat and wrapped in a white shawl by G.H. Hurt and Son Ltd. The company has a long standing connection with the Royal family and made the shawl Prince George wore the first time we saw him. Following a much longer than expected wait, today's events unfolded incredibly quickly. The Duchess was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital in the early stages of labour at 06:00 this morning. With Prince William by her side she was safely delivered of a baby girl weighing 8 lbs 3 oz at 8. 34 am this morning. The fantastic news came in shortly after 11 am. Below we see the official press release from Kensington Palace: Royal Central Twitter Feed Just twelve hours after being admitted, the tired but delighted couple returned to their London residence. Unlike Prince George's arrival, they declined to answer questions from the media, most likely due to exhaustion. William carried the car seat and held Kate's hand as they made the short walk to their Range Rover. The Princess was carried in the Britax baby safe infant carrier. While the couple didn't answer questions, the look on their faces spoke volumes. The royal baby is fourth-in-line to the throne and will be styled as a Princess of Cambridge. She is the first Princess of Cambridge to be born in 182 years. The last, Mary Adelaide, was the Queen's great-grandmother. The princess is the first to benefit from the changes in the Laws to Succession meaning her place cannot be usurped by younger brothers. Earlier today, we had an unexpected treat when Prince William left the hospital to bring Prince George to meet his new sister. The adorable tot waved as he entered the hospital. You can watch the video here. After meeting his sibling, George returned to the Palace, meaning we will not see a photo of the foursome just yet. It is almost two years since they first stood on the steps of the Lindo Wing with their newborn son. The family returned to Kensington Palace where Prince George and the Middletons await them. It is understood members of the Royal family including the Queen and Prince Charles will meet the princess tomorrow. The Cambrdiges then plan to spend the summer at their country home Anmer Hall where Prince William is working with the East Anglian Air Ambulance. The Duchess looked radiant as she left the Lindo Wing. Once again, she chose a bespoke Jenny Packham dress. The pretty yellow and white floral print frock with three-quarter length sleeves was a beautiful choice for the occasion. A closer look at the print. Ashley quickly identified Kate's nude shoes as the Jimmy Choo Gilbert pumps. Jimmy Choo Kate accessorised with her Annoushka pearls and following a visit from her hairdresser Amanda Cook-Tucker her hair looked fresh and glossy. Kate really looked amazing and it's hard to believe she gave birth just hours before. Annoushka You can watch a video here. I want to thank you all for following our Live Blog today and sharing your excitement via the comments section and social media. It was a fantastic day, and an unforgettable one for royal fans. Our congratulations to William and Kate!
