Happy Sunday! FINALLY! I have more-or-less recovered from the Canadian Business Conference I attended last weekend in Toronto! It was SUCH and amazing event. The only down side was I came back exhausted, head spinning from all the information and a family that needed a bit of TLC. Over the last week I managed to get the house back in order, the fridge full of healthy food (when the kids ask "can you buy some FRUIT??" you know things have slipped a little *lol*) a few "must do" items off my list and LOTS of sleep. Question: at what point does a "nap" qualify as a "sleep"? I'm thinking passing out for 2+ hours qualifies as more of a sleep than a nap … and that happened more than once this week. Thinking I MAY have been a little sleep deprived lately! ANYway ….. I digress … (part of my charm, right?) Sunday - the day when I'm up by 7:00 am and can get a few blog posts done whilst the "slug people" dream away until noon … Today I'm sharing all my Dragonfly Dream Swaps from the conference. I knew this set was a "keeper" when I first saw it in the catalogue. I love it more than I thought I would. It really is a fanTASTIC set for most occasions! Birthday, Sympathy, Thank You, Congratulations, Just Because … even masculine cards can be made with this baby. The set and the framelits can be purchased separately or bundled, saving you 10%. Having said all THAT … let's get to checking out 10 fantastic samples made by top Canadian Demonstrators using it, shall we?? First up - the card made by little ol' me. It LOOKS complicated but it really was quick and easy to make! - Whisper White card base - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" - Pool Party layer - 5" x 3 3/4" - Basic Black layer - 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" - Emboss the sentient and splotches in white embossing powder (I used the splotches from Swirly Bird) - Cut the largest dragonfly out of whisper white card stock and then, using a finger dauber (or sponge), add Bermuda Bay ink - Attach a small piece of Tear & Tape to the body of the dragonfly - wrap/loop Silver Thread around your fingers (three fingers, closed) four times to make a lasso of silver thread. - attach silver thread to Tear & Tape on the dragonfly - "seal" the three to the dragonfly with another piece of Tear & Tape - Attach the dragonfly to the black card layer (I just removed the top layer of the Tear & Tape so the wings are still loose) - Attach a White Perfect Accent - Pop up the Pool Party base on dimensionals DONE! Before sharing the other samples in the swap I wanted to show you the great little "Set Sampler" booklets we all got with our swaps. All the swaps I got for the Dragonfly Dreams set are in this adorable little booklet. Seriously - these are the "little things" that made the conference so great. As Georgia is our special guest our theme is to CASE (copy and selectively edit) any project that has been created by Georgia. This alone was a task in itself.........so many gorgeous projects to choose from! This is Georgia's card I have chosen to case: And here is my card: My card base is Night of Navy and I layered this with Whisper White Thick using dimensionals. I also stamped a gorgeous sentiment from the Suite Sentiments stamp set in Night of Navy and cut the dragonfly using Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies. The Floral Boutique Designer Washi Tape was a perfect compliment to the card base so I used all three designs of various lengths to create the accent at the top. I tried using the Solid Bakers Twine in Night of Navy for the ribbon accent but it just didn't look right. So I kind of 'braided' the navy with white by tying a small knot at one and then crossing the two colours over each other and tied anther knot to hold in place. Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing one of the quick and easy cards we made at the Stamp-a-Stack last Sunday. I CASEd the idea from Mary Fish over at www.stampinpretty.com when she did a similar card using the butterfly thinlits. Check it out ... I just finished putting 10 of these together last night, with the leftovers from Sunday. Seriously. So quick! Standard card base of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Top Whisper White layer of 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" Sweet Sugarplum Layer of 3 1/2" plus two ticks x 4 3/4" plus two ticks :) Any DSP of your choice cut 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" - I used patterns from the Falling in Love pack Step 1: Run the top Whisper White layer through the Big Shot using the Dragonfly Dreams thinlits. I used the magnetic plate plus the precision plate for this cut but be warned - you aren't SUPPOSE to use the magnetic plate with the precision plate. Why? The pressure is a little too much for the clear cutting plate and it warps it quite badly. Why do I use it? This one particular die just needs the extra pressure to cult all the way through. With other plate combinations I need to keep adding card stock shims underneath and … well … it's just a pain … so I sacrifice a clear plate and if it warps it warps. It's ok … I can buy another one *lol* Step 2: Stamp your sentiment using Rich Razzleberry ink - I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Rose Wonder set Step 3: Tape the DSP square to the back of the white base - TIP - apply the tape to the back of the white layer, not to the DSP … I can pretty much guarantee if you put the tape on the DSP you'll end up with tape showing through the hole you just cut! Step 4: Use your bone folder to curl the dragonfly wings up. You have the wing between your thumb and the bone folder … like the old days when we used to curl ribbon with our scissors … Step 5: Use a small piece of foam strip on the dragonfly torso and attach it to the DSP Step 6: Attach the white layer to the Sweet Sugarplum layer with dimensionals Step 7: Attach the Sweet Sugarplum layer to the white base using snail adhesive. Step 8: Attach some rhinestones to finish it off Done! LOVE how quick it comes together. This is a great card for most occasions making it a great one for a Stamp-a-Stack! OK … guess I should run. I'm in the middle of figuring out a new videoconferencing system (called Zoom) so my long distance downline members can join me virtually for my Breakfast Stamping Spectacular Feb 25th. Hello and Happy New Year to you! Here at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, for the new year we will be featuring one of our designers for her very own individual post on most Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am so very excited about that because our designers are so creative and talented! Today that designer is me, Jennifer Gregorsky. I jumped at the chance to share a special project I did using some of the fabulous new products from the 2017 Occasions Catalog! Here is a card and gift bag I created for a very good friend: So if you are wondering how I got that gorgeous Bokeh effect on the background paper, I didn't. That is the paper! And I predict it is going to be a major hit with this catalog. I absolutely love the colors here, a Blushing Bride card base, the Falling In Love DSP, the Very Vanilla string of little dragonflies, the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper large dragonfly and touches of Sweet Sugarplum and Copper. The Blushing Bride Glittery dragonfly is actually layered over a vellum one with some copper metallic thread peeking out. I added some pearls and Sweet Sugarplum enamel shapes as well. I used the Envelope Punch Board and the fabulous Envelope Paper in Sweet Sugarplum to create a special envelope to match my card: I love the Layered Letters to stamp a name right on my custom-made envelop using the Sweet Sugarplum envelope paper. I also added a dragonfly with some sparkly wings courtesy of the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. I also decorated the gift bag I gave her as well: I used some old and new ribbon; the old being the Sweet Sugarplum Glitter Ribbon and the new being the Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon. I just cut a little bit of the Falling In Love DSP, more of that amazing Bokeh effect, into a banner and added a cute little label: Of course I had to use the Stitched Shapes framelits along with the Layering Circles framelits, they are just too perfect together! I added the beautiful Falling In Love Flower embellishment for a final touch. So are you super excited about these new products? They will soon be available to buy!
