Stampin' Up!'s Dragonfly Dreams set is used to create an easy yet elegant card for Freshly Made Sketches #268. Falling in Love DSP is also featured.
This week has flown with lots more work happening outdoors here colourmehappy hq, so it's no surprise I have tools on my mind, & used the them on my card for this week's sketch challenge at Just Add Ink. Here's the fab & flexible sketch Narelle challenged us with. Cool, huh? I took a little liberty & squished the sketch a bit to make my card, but I'm sure you'll see all the sketch elements. I paired together the Nailed It stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue & Labeler alphabet stamp set from the 16-17 Annual Catalogue - my first play with both of them. I received Nailed It as a Prize Patrol win at Onstage Live in Brisbane (#demoperks). It's not a set I'd normally gravitate too as tools are not really my darling man's thing, but I was very happy to win it, as it was something different for my collection. More ideas for masculine card ideas are always welcome. Back to the card, I started by cutting the circle sketch elements with my Stitched Shapes framelit dies (have you figured out I LOVE these yet?), then embossed the real red circle with the new Hexagons Dynamic embossing folder (wow! another new love that one). The dotty paper is from the Carried Away dsp pack - a Sale-a-bration freebie you can choose with any $90 purchase until 31 March. See how to get your free pack here. I stamped the tools in basic gray archival ink & watercoloured them with smoky slate, dapper denim, old olive, real red & peekaboo peach ink & an aquapainter, then fussy cut them out. If you're thinking 'ugh, fussy cutting', you'll be glad to hear that coordinating Build It framelit dies are also available separately & as a discounted bundle. I don't have the dies yet so fussy cutting it was. I popped up all the elements on dimensionals too. Here's a more angled view of the card to hopefully help you see the dimension. The punny birthday sentiment is a custom one I stamped using the Labeler alphabet stamp set. I love that it helps you make your message say anything you'd like, & it's such a fun font & shape. I really hope this makes the dear friend receiving the card laugh & not think we're calling him a tool, something I'd never have thought of until the darling man suggested it. What do you think? On the inside, I used a leftover paper scrap & a few more watercoloured tools. I forgot to take a pic, but I'll add one later if I have a chance to do it before giving the card this weekend. If you'd like to know anything else about the card, just leave me a comment. Remember to pin my card for later inspiration too. All the supplies are listed below & available to buy, if you'd like to make your own version. Now head over to Just Add Ink to see all the fun ways the team used this great sketch & play along with the challenge too. I'll be back soon with more ideas for you to try. Hello and welcome to Day Three of MFT’s January Release Countdown! Release is on January 10 at 9pm EST so mark your calendars and don’t be late! Be sure to stop by the MFT Blog for all the details. Today we’re previewing PI You've Got Mail Stamp Set, PI You've Got Mail Die-namics, Mailbox Die-namics, Love Is in the Mail Stamp Set, Flop Card - Heart Die-namics, Hearts & Stripes Paper Pack. It’s Day Three so that means Pure Innocence :) And today she got some mail for you! This card started with a Sweet Tooth card stock base. Next I applied molding paste through Small Brick Wall Stencil, allowed it to dry, replaced the stencil and sponged Brick Red dye ink onto the brick “wall”. I popped it up on foam mounting tape and added Grassy Fields Die-namics cut from Jellybean Green card stock. I stamped Little Miss PI on X-Press It Blending Card with Black Licorice hybrid ink, colored her with Copic markers, and popped her up on foam on the bricks. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark on Black Licorice card stock cut with Stitched Sentiment Strips Die-namics, heat embossed with white detail embossing powder, and also popped up on foam. ***** My second card highlights this awesome Mailbox Die-namics! A strip of paper from the new Hearts & Stripes Paper Pack, Stitched Scallop Basic Edges 2 Die-namics, Love is In the Mail stamp set, and a watercolor wash background complete the design. All supplies for both cards listed below. And that’s it for Day Three of MFT’s January Release Countdown! Thanks so much for stopping by today—see you soon! Each week we see fantastic projects featuring My Favorite Things product, and we're always so thrilled to see what our customers and followers are creating! Today, we'd like to shine the spotlight on some awesome projects that have caught our attention in another edition of You've Been Spotted. If you see your project featured, feel free to post this image on your blog and link to this post to show the world that you were spotted by My Favorite Things! Gemma Campbell This birthday card from Gemma is bright, fresh, and a perfect way to celebrate either gender of any age. She used the Distressed Patterns stamp set to accent her Birthday Candles and the Radiating Rays Stencil to create her background. Kathrin Donhauser-Ruth This dimensional look from Kathrin featuring Birdie Brown's Space Explorer made my jaw drop! From the phenomenal coloring to the incredible use of layers to create depth, I know that her efforts will be so appreciated by the lucky recipient! Jean Manis You Float My Boat is a fabulous choice for creating masculine looks. Jean chose to forego the sailboat imagery and used die-cut anchors and a coordinating sentiment from the stamp set pairing it all with mugs pulled from the Hot Cocoal Cups Die-namics — perfect! Smiles Crafty Cardz Springtime Blooms look striking on black. I love the idea of a full panel filled with a custom pattern and topped with a charming little sentiment strip. Using a MISTI to position the stamp images allows you to create multiples with ease as well...stamp a few and color whenever the desire strikes! Olga Matyushevskaya What stuck out to me on Olga's Farm Friends look is her mix of custom papers. The green tree pattern she created on the left and the distressed blue panel that if you look closely, features the same "I Miss Moo" sentiment as that which is embossed on the black strip. I'm always impressed by the ways I see supplemental imagery incorporated into your projects! Which design is your favorite this week? Be sure to leave these talented folks some love. And who knows? You might be spotted sometime soon!
