Happy Saturday & welcome to day 4 of my Eastern Palace review. Today is all about the endless combinations & possibilities you have with the Eastern Beauty stamps & Eastern Medallions dies. They're cool on their own, but the magic really happens when you combine dies and/or stamp images with each other & with other dies, like the Layering Circles dies, and punches too. I played with all the die pieces & stamps and was blown away by all the possibilities for creating with this brilliant collection. I then compiled idea sheets to show my class some of the many and am sharing them with you today. Be sure to pin these so you'll have them on hand when you want ideas. First up, here's a reminder of what's included in the Eastern Medallions die set & Eastern Beauty stamp set. Remember you receive a 10% discount when you buy them together as a the Eastern Beauty bundle (see links at the bottom of this post). Let's walk through these beauties starting with... Circle medallions There are 5 circle medallion dies - 1 large, 2 medium & 2 small. All medallions cut negative shapes into the card, rather than a positive cut out. These 2 cards show the large medallion used this way. Use them singly or together as shown below. The largest medallion shape can be snipped out of the circle to use as a positive shape, or can be cut out with a smaller or larger dies for a different look, as shown below. This card shows it cut out with a scallop circle die (similar to the far right sample in row 2 below). Large flower medallion The large flower medallion can be used alone or combined with the medium & small circle medallions. The shape partially cuts out the petals leaving the shape attached to the card. The shape can be easily snipped out with sharp pointed scissors (our Snips are perfect) to use separately, as I have on these cards & this card. This die also makes a beautiful flower petal. See this sunflower card. 6 pointed medallion flower dies & my favourite stamp The 6 pointed medallion outline die (centre top of die set image) has a coordinating inset die that partially cuts another shape. Use separately or together. This card shows the 2 dies combined with Eastern Gold stickers. Fold the inset petals back & adhere for a lovely flower outline. (row 2 below). Combine the dies with the coordinating stamp. (row 3) Add some other smaller stamp images to decorate (rows 4 & 5). Multiple stamping - the 6 pointed stamp is my favourite stamp in the set. It can be used in so many ways with the dies & can be rotated & stamped again to create a look like that of Spirograph (if you're as old as me). It also creates fabulous tessellated patterns. I'll show you some cards I've done with these techniques in my next post. For now, check out the right column of the pic below to see how brilliant the 2 & 4 images stamped together look. Square bracket die & stamps The square bracket outline die cuts a useful negative window or positive shape. The coordinating die can be used on it's own or with the outline. You can easily snip out the inset centre too. There's also a coordinating outline stamp & accent stamps to add more detail to the cuts or use on their own. Circles & sentiment stamps Oh my goodness are there any shapes more useful for any project than a circle? There are 3 circle stamps of different sizes in the Eastern Beauty set that will work for so many projects. Of course they work with many of the sentiments in the the set & many, many others. The circles can be cut put both outside & inside the line with various Layering Circles dies & circle punches, as shown in the image above. More co-ordinating dies & stamps 4 smaller stamps also have coordinated dies. I used the 4 pointed star as a flower centre on this card. SU have definitely thought of everything with this one. Phew! That's a LOT of possibilities don't you think? I'm sure there are lots more I haven't figured out yet too. Remember to pin my card & die idea sheets for later inspiration. Here's a combined shot of all the die & stamp combinations for good measure. See the Eastern Palace Suite There are lots more coordinating products in the full Eastern Palace suite. Hello and welcome! I have a Sizzix tutorial to share with you today, made with Tim Holtz new Frameworks dies. These dies are so fun and very versatile. I made an art journal page, but the technique works just as well on a card, tag or scrapbooking layout. I thought it would be fun to use the Frameworks die to get a mosaic look. A great base for that is Wendy Vecchi's Embossing Paste, which works both as adhesive and grout in this project. The Frameworks die that I used is the Honeycomb one, but you can get the same effect with any of the other Frameworks dies. I worked in my Small Creative Journal and smeared gesso with a palette knife. A piece of paper had been embossed in the Honeycomb embossing folder and I pressed it repeatedly into the gesso to make a soft textured pattern. You can also use the embossing folder itself, but then you have to clean it immediately. I also wanted the random gesso effect on the embossed paper. Leave to dry. Water down some Distress Paint and paint the page. Mist with water for even more texture. Leave to dry. Die cut Honeycomb Frameworks from different papers and materials. I used: natural sticky-back canvas, Mirrored Sheet, wood veneer paper, dictionary paper, the embossed honeycomb paper from earlier, Eclectic Elements Fabric which had been glued to cardstock and various Tim Holtz patterned papers. These are the inside pieces, I will use the frame pieces in a tutorial soon. Ink the edges. Ink the honeycomb embossed paper with Tumbled Glass and wipe off with a moist cloth. The random spots of gesso resist the ink. Smear Embossing Paste on your page in a medium thick layer. Start placing your honeycomb pieces into the paste, leaving the same space between all the pieces. The paste doesn't dry too quickly, so you have enough time. I made sure to vary the materials. Press the pieces down a bit to make the paste come up in between them. Continue until you have covered the paste. I left some paste uncovered because I thought it gave a cool look. Leave to dry. Cover all the paper pieces (not the mirrors, wood, canvas, fabric or embossed paper) with Glossy Accents. This gives a great glossy look to them and even more interest and variation to the mosaic pieces. Leave to dry. Ink the paste here and there with Gathered Twigs. I stamped the background with a few Tim Holtz stamps. Here you can see the honeycomb texture in the gesso. The sentiment was stamped on two Ribbon Flags. The stamp comes from a Darkroom Door set. I added rub-ons to some of the tiles. The combination of different surfaces in the tiles makes for a very interesting project. The mirror pieces look like real mirrors (they are hard to photograph). I just got Tim Holtz Bird Feather set and wanted to ink up this great bird stamp. It was inked with Broken China and Gathered Twigs, misted with water four or five times and stamped on watercolour paper. The little bird is a Hero Arts stamp and was stamped in the same way as the larger one. The title was die cut with the Vintage Market Sizzlits die. Thank you for looking! Have a great weekend, I hope you get some time to be creative. Hi Everyone! I'm back from a small vacation over the 4th of July Week. Wow!! How did that time fly so fast?? I'm left with some great memories: Golfing (twice!), fishing, hammocking, 'down time', good times with family and friends, and yummy food. As it was, we grilled a lot so the bulk of the cooking fell to my husband. (I love that!) He's the only person I know who can grill chicken breasts or pork chops and make them taste like you just ordered them at the most exquisite and expensive restaurant. He does it just perfect and they

These little Halloween Cuties will need a little more embellishment and stamping before we make them for a class, but I love this look with the Give it a Whirl Dies! I colored the kitty by stamping with the Basic Gray Ink pad and used the Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blend marker to remove the grey on the cat's ears. Highland Heather for the ghost, sentiment and ribbon sparked up the Halloween look. For this card I wanted to use several stamp sets to answer the Fill In The Blank question, "Life Is...." made with the Playful Alphabet. First I used the Measure of Love set to create a bowl of cherries. Then, I made a Peachy peach with the Sweet as a Peach Stamp Set by omitting the Have a (peachy) day portion of that sentiment with my marker. Then I left out the LIFE IS portion of the Flowers of Friendship stamp set's sentiment to create the "Better with Friends Like You" answer. Happy Saturday Peeps!!! This week on the Dynamic Duos challenge, it is Monochromatic week: I love these pinks. I sorta CASED my own card, you can see it HERE, I used the same set and same layout for this card but I wanted to try it using some for the Stampin Up First Edition DSP, I have seen this done around and really like the look. I stamped the poppies onto the DSP with black stazon and then again onto some white card stock. I used my aqua painter and pretty in pink ink to color all the flowers in. I then used regal rose ink to shade. I then cut out the flower heads and added them to the DSP piece with some dimensionals. I added some scallops along the side using one of the Adorning Accents Edgelit Dies. I used some retired Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon across the bottom and then added a few pearls around. The base of the card is Crumb Cake card stock. I almost never make a card with out adding a sentiment to the front but I really couldn't make one work on this one. The finished inside: Be sure and head over to the Dynamic Duos Blog to see what the rest of the design team did with this fun color challenge. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY STAMPING!! Vicki
