Maybe the quickest my finished project after it was published. Made it so fast I could not even remember the knitting process. Modifications: Mirrored back chevron pattern in the front. Did not like flared front sides. Made it buttoned. Made it longer. Used self-striped Noro yarns to make my life easier. Played with color transitions to have thinner stripes on the top and thicker at the bottom. With some short rows made rounded neck in the front (7th picture). Very interesting raglan made my armholes slanting - lower in the front and shorter in the back side. So I made short rows gussets in the back side of armholes when picked up for a sleeve (4 short row turns, 8 rows total) to compensate the uneven armhole line. You can see it in the 9th picture. Ran out of yarns, so made 3/4 sleeves. Now I can easily wear bracelets.

This cardigan is knitted in the round, with only a few rows at the shoulders. Although steeked, unusually the armhole is shaped and the sleeves are fitted and set in. Steeking allows you to knit garments in the round without interruption for the front opening or sleeves. In this pattern the sleeves are joined in at the armhole, and the whole thing is then worked rather like a Raglan until the sleeves are finished and then the rest of the armhole is completed with a new steek. Finally, the front edge is enclosed and a lace trim added. Neither stitch pattern presents a particular technical challenge but the finishing is a little different. This design does require a knowledge of working with steeks and would probably appeal to the more experienced knitter. The waist is shaped but if you prefer to have more room in this area, cast on the sts given for the waist plus an extra 28sts (two repeats of Chart A), then work straight apart from Front shaping, ignoring side shaping instructions.

Let the air wrap you in its arms when you're wearing: CERISARA.A beautiful hybrid of a very traditional shape with lovely lace, Cerisara has intriguing form and exquisite finishing.Knit in one piece, from the top down. Instructions included for both long sleeves and a sleeveless vest version -- sleeves easily shortened with this try-it-on-as-you-go design! This is a style that uses DK weight yarn bumped up to a worsted weight gauge to make a fabric with gorgeous, but not out-of-control, drape and stitch definition.I used something called Eucool for the sample sweater, which is a very lightweight yarn made from wool and get this: eucalyptus! I fantasized about the days I used to live on the coast of Northern California where we had so many of these trees (I am very sentimental)!Other beautiful yarns that work well: Silky Wool, Felted Tweed DK, Rowan Cashcotton, Lempur Linen, & Wool/Cotton, Classic Elite Soft Linen, Hempathy, etc. Oh, and Blue Sky SKINNY COTTON (
Wrap yourself in cozy, rustic elegance. Ebbetts’ top down construction and modern drop shoulder design provide an easy fit, while the back shaping and a split hem bring elements of classic tailoring. Soft textures, achieved through a trio of simple stitch patterns, keep the knitter engaged. A lateral braid across the back shoulders provides structure and a crisp detail, and a generous seeded rib collar adds a bit of extra warmth, making this a perfect layer for the transitioning seasons. Engravings is inspired by engraved patterns in wood. This design explores how cables can be used to “engrave” a pattern into a stockinette fabric. CONSTRUCTION The Engravings cardigan is worked top down, with the body worked flat and the sleeves worked in the round. First stitches are cast on for the back, and the pattern for the back is established with three cable panels separated by sections of stockinette. The armholes are shaped as you work the back. Stitches for the front are picked up along each shoulder in turn and the front is worked top down until armscye depth is reached. Each front piece features one cable panel with stockinette worked on either side and, as for the back, armhole shaping is worked, along with shaping for the V-neck front. Once armscye depth is reached, front and back are joined and the remainder of the body is worked flat. Stitches are picked up around the armhole to form the sleeves, which are worked in the round. A cable panel is worked down the top centre of each sleeve and tapered shaping is worked until the cuff is reached. Stitches for a neckband are picked up around the V-neck front and around the back of neck. Buttons and buttonholes can be added or omitted along the neckband as preferred. SIZING GUIDE This garment is graded into sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Recommended positive ease is 5-10” / 12.5 - 25 cm at the chest circumference. Finished Garment Chest Circumference: 37.75 (40.5, 43.5, 48, 50.75) (55.25, 59.5, 63.25, 66)“ 94.5 (101.5, 109, 119.5, 127) (138, 149, 158, 165) cm. SAMPLE The wearer is 5’10” / 178 cm with a 37” / 92.5 cm chest circumference. The sample has been worked in size L, giving the wearer 11.25” / 28 cm of positive ease at the chest. To allow for the wearer’s height, Sleeve Length 2 has been worked, with a further 1” / 2.5cm of length added to each sleeve by working 7 more rounds before starting the sleeve decrease pattern. GAUGE Using 4 mm / US size 6 needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 22 stitches over 28 rows in the cable panel pattern (see p.5-7), blocked, creates a 4x4” / 10x10 cm square. Waistband and cuff circumferences assume you are working 6 sts per 1” / 2.5 cm. YARN The sample has been worked using Primrose Yarn Co.’s Roan DK 3 ply base (60% American Superwash Merino / 40% Domestic Non Superwash Merino; 210 m / 230 yds per 100 g) in colourway Smoke. Got smaller gauge, so knitted size 43 to fit bust 40. If I knit it again, I dо not make waist shaping. The stitch pattern shrinks about waist perfectly, that’s why waist shaping is unnecessary and looks not right (7th picture). But anyway, love it a lot. This cozy cardigan is worked from the top down, and requires only a minimal amount of seaming. The collar is worked first in sideways garter stitch and then the stitches for the yoke are picked up along the long edge of the collar. The yoke, sleeves and body are then worked down in one piece. The pattern includes detailed instructions for the pockets, which are not complicated! Also included are instructions for i-cord edges, but you can work garter edges if you prefer to avoid i-cording. I think it is best worn with about 1 or 2 inches of positive ease. Sizing is easily customized by adjusting the number of stitches cast on under the arms. The finished cardigan is shown in Berroco Blackstone Tween Aran weight, colour 2607. A suggested substitute colour is below.
Mods: Made long sleeves. Back is made with the same curved hem as in fronts. Front bands bind off with tight i-cord, as well as sleeve hems. Front bands are re-knitted. First time picked up stitches at a ratio 3:4, as in the pattern. It was too much stitches at the back neck. You can notice even in the pattern pictures (Lady with the blue one) - there is very loose back neck hem. Second time picked up twice as less stitches and the result was a lot better (9th picture). Oversized cashmere pullover. Sample for my design.
It’s finished - very tiny pop of color jacket. I was very short in yarns (they were so heavy!), so I’m very happy to make something wearable in spite of overall stress about yarns insufficiency. Thanks God, I had yarn ends left to sew everything. Modifications: Very limited in yarns, so made it shorter, back and front at the same length. For the same reason (short in yarns) made sleeves bracelet length. Added 6 buttons. Made bust darts of 2 short rows, 4 rows total. It helps fronts to be closed better (they are visible in the 11th picture). Back neck shaping is made with short rows (the last picture).
