Today let’s compare Bloomquist Pumpkin and Bloomquist Jean. These two beautiful hybrids, both created by our dear friend Paul Bloomquist, have more than a few similarities and they are both part of our Legacy Program. Bloomquist Jean, classified as an informal decorative dahlia, has slightly larger blooms and is a taller plant than Bloomquist Pumpkin. […]
These two beautiful hybrids – one from Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias and one hybridized by Paul Bloomquist right here in Whatcom County, Washington – are similar, but they have some distinct differences. KA’s Peppercorn is a larger dahlia than Bloomquist Firecracker, but both have a fantastic red-and-white color palette. BLQ Firecracker is a novelty form, […]
“Sandia Panama” and “Polka” dahlias: if you’re not careful, you might mistake these two varieties for each other on their own, but side by side, it’s super easy to tell them apart. Let’s compare these two! Sandia Panama, a 2019 introduction from Steve and Sandy Boley at Birch Bay Dahlias, is a perfectly classic anemone-form […]
These two beautiful dahlias, one from Santa Cruz Dahlias and another from Noni Morrison (creator of the Salish dahlia series) are two of our farm favorite varieties. Side by side, they are are quite easy to tell apart, but separately, especially in photos, they are remarkably similar! KA’s Cafe Mauve is a gorgeous, 6″-7″ mocha […]
Nicholas and Terracotta are two incredible light-orange dahlias that we consider essentials here at the farm. Because of their vigorous growth, strong stems, and seed/tuber production, we love them and plan to keep growing them even though they’re fairly commonly available! Nicholas is technically an informal decorative dahlia, but is often misclassified as a waterlily […]

Each year, Triple Wren Farms has the honor and privilege of growing out many new dahlias from a growing list of hybridizers, and it’s THE BEST when new varieties have made it through the “getting-to-market” process and take their first steps out into the wide world. This fall, we have 5 new Bloomquist introductions to share, exclusively available from our farm: Bloomquist Malloree, Bloomquist Anew, Bloomquist Sandy, Bloomquist Wild, and Bloomquist Jerry. Check out details for each of these in our Online Store (link in profile), and watch for our next dahlia tuber sale (after the New Year) to include these varieties plus several other previously introduced Bloomquist varieties that aren’t currently offered anywhere else in the U.S., other brand new varieties from Birch Bay dahlias, and many more fresh, new offerings.

We love dahlias here at Triple Wren, and you likely know we sell their tubers. But have you ever thought about how those dahlias first grew? About who created the first tubers, and how they accomplished it? Have you ever wondered why dahlias make flowers/seeds at all since they’re so easily multiplied via their roots?
Happy weekend, friends. 🧡💜🍑🍇Dahlias:Take Off, Linda’s Baby, Snoho Sonia,Jowey Nicky, Bloomquist Attention
These beautiful, glowy pink dahlias are two of our very favorite varieties here at the farm. Chilson’s Pride was the first dahlia I ever grew. It was given to me in 2009 by a friend here in WA, right after Steve and I moved to the PNW from the southeast U.S. Sweet Ms. Dorothy came […]
We’ve been growing dahlias for 12 beautiful seasons here at the farm, and slowly over the years, our collection has grown immensely. Steve and I have curated the 700-ish named varieties we’re growing in 2023 in our fields so that it’s not only gorgeous, but also so we can have incredible genetic diversity here. We […]

AC Ben and Terracotta dahlias: these two varieties could be mistaken for each other on their own, but side by side, it’s easy to tell them apart due to their significant size difference. Let’s compare these two! Aptly named, “Terracotta” dahlias bloom in a lovely, warm, terra-cotta color, without much color variation from bloom to […]

In the early days of Triple Wren Farm, we used to sell thousands of dahlia bunches every week to wholesalers and grocery chains. I well remember the days when I used to deliver buckets of flowers out of the back of our station wagon! If you are looking to expand into dahlias as a market […]
