The subreddit r/OldPhotosInRealLife is pretty much the closest thing we have to a time machine. Its 596k members are constantly comparing past and present through rephotography — the act of taking a photo of a place that has already been photographed before. The end result is like a portal, fusing together two different periods.

A unique painting where the reflection of this Curtiss C-46 Commando cargo airplane in a water pool is painted also, an amazing detailed gouache. The C-46 is mostly known for the flights over the ‘Hump’, the mountain range between India and China. The Japanese had cut the Burma road between Indian and the non-occupied part of China. The C46 had a greater load capacity and stronger engines than de Dakota thus more suitable for this task.
