This is my make for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge DT Do pop over to the Color Dare Challenge and take a look at my teamies' makes! This is today's colour scheme - I have used the colours from the bottom row plus black, white and silver. The weekend before last I took part in a virtual retreat. These cards are based on a work shop by Mel Johns. I have used Distress Oxides, stencils, black and white Poscas and silver embossing powder on the chipboards. Hope you will join the Color Dare Challenge... Happy Crafting!
Are you ready for a color challenge? This one should be pretty easy so how about giving it a try! You must use shades of all 3 colors shown in our graphic. See the graphic for the fine print rules. Do not add any extra colors. Make any paper craft you like. If you're sharing with other challenges but sure your colors fit our challenge. When you're ready to join our Color Dare Challenge click here. After thinking about the colors for a bit I decided to go with a sunset look. I punched a circle in a Post-it. note and used a couple more to block off a horizon. Then I got to work with blending brushes to create a setting sunset. I used the edge of a block to create the wispy clouds. I stamped the images to frame the sunset. These are my makes for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge DT Do pop over to the Color Dare Challenge and take a look at my teamies' makes! This is today's colour scheme - I used all of the colours! I used metallic gold card bases matted with a periwinkle patterned paper from a crafterschoice Minerals paper pack. The image is by Art by Marlene, stamped and water-coloured. The sentiment is from Visible Image. I used a variety of water colours including shimmery ones. Hope you will join the Color Dare Challenge... I have made a set of three seahorse cards.
This week's challenge Color Dare #311 was to use Ballerina, Saffron, Peacock with optional Gold. Guidelines on Neutrals: White, Cream, Black, Gray, Kraft and Brown(s) are free to use. Unless they're listed in the challenge then you need to use them. For me my favourite colour is Peacock and so when I was demonstrating Opaque Matte Texture Paste to my cardmaking class today (at an adult learning community centre), I grabbed the Peacock Ink. I didn't have my re-inker at class to drop a few drops of ink down on my All-Purpose Mat so I turned my ink upside down and splatted it there. I pulled some texture paste out of the tub with the long skinny Palette Knife and then moved it onto the inky section and mixed it in (as below) with the thicker palette knife. After I Demoed the colour blending on the mat, I showed the stencil with a little butterfly cut out, quickly moved around and smeared it again and again (without rinsing the template between). With my left over peacock coloured texture paste I just smeared it over the White Daisy cardstock I had. After the peacock coloured texture paste dried I cut it down slightly to be 3.75 inches x 3.75 inches. I backed it with Saffron Cardstock. I cut s 0.75 inch strip of Ballerina Cardstock and stuck on one of the saffron coloured long stickers from the Boutique Complements. I cut it down and kept the left over piece. Then I punched out chipboard/card hello complement from the Boutique Complements and stuck it up on 3D Foam Tape. Later I may add some ribbon or other embellishments to it but I did like the simplicity of this card. A quick texture technique and BAM a card is made. I wanted to show the ladies at the class that you could do this quickly and easily and didn't need to use up much time. Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project. Hope you can join in the Colour Dare Colour Challenge #311 too. I'm really interested to hear what you think about it, so I'd love you to leave a comment. See you again soon. The Colors of Sangria Eggplant Pomegranate Poppy Cocoa Desert Sand Champagne The new Sangria paper pack brings us bright and cheerful colors of Fall. Also new this Fall is water coloring of all kinds. I wanted to try coloring the stamp with the water color paints and stamping on the CS. The challenge at Color My Heart helped to make this water colored card. The Sangria paper packs offers a variety of Fall colors to make this floral stamp fun to paint. Even though the color challenge does not name a green the paper has a green in it. So I used New England Ivy ink pad for the green stems on my stamp. The flowers are Eggplant, Pomegranate, and Poppy. So, now, it's your turn to share your Sangria creations with us at Color My Heart. 🎨 Hello and Welcome Back, Creative Friends! 🌟 I’m thrilled to share my latest card-making adventure, inspired by the Color Dare Challenge Blog #615, from the Color Dare Challenge Blog. This time, I dived into the vibrant SIX PACK color palette, selecting Sapphire, Capri, Lemonade, and a pinch of Evergreen. The combination turned out beautifully, and I can't wait to walk you through it! For the base, I crafted a stunning Sapphire textured background using the "Dots" embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. To bring some brightness, I die-cut balloons in Lemonade and playful stripes. The diagonal partial die-cut "Happy Birthday" from the coordinating stamps and die set - Happy Birthday from Scrapbook.com on the second striped panel added just the right amount of flair, especially when I layered it on the Sapphire embossed background using foam tape for that extra dimension. Finally, I attached everything to a Kraft card base and added an Evergreen ribbon with some sparkly rhinestones for the perfect finishing touch. ✨ I absolutely loved how this card turned out—bold, bright, and beautifully balanced! Using this color combo and my beloved embossing folder made the crafting process even more enjoyable. 💖 Ready to create your own? 🎨 Join us and participate in the Color Dare Challenge #615! This is my DT project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #346 Love of Color (Using all the Colors on the Board) and combined it with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #319. When I looked at this color palette along with the sketch it shouted out all the colors needed for a beautiful floral wreath. Selected a stitched tag for my floral wreath, chose a scribble circle for my wreath base, stamped the sentiment inside the circle, die cut/layered many small florals, leaves and butteflies which were adhered randomly on the wreath base. Adhered tag on the Smoothie colored design paper, die cut a bow, adhered at the top of the tag along with a butterfly and then adhered this panel to a Sapphire design paper background. Added Wink of Stella to the flowers and tiny sparkles to each of the flowers. Please visit each of these challenges to see DT members' inspiration, along with other participants that have entered these challenges and maybe you can combine these challenges too. Here we go on another Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge! From the color grid below you need to chose at least 3 of the colors. Black, White, Gold and Silver are Free. Do not add any extra colors to your project that aren't in the grid. We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join the challenge use the link in the post on our home page. I couldn't wait to use the new Postage Frame Thin Cut Dies and make that the deciding factor of what my card would look like. My colors are Grape, Mint and Capri. I love that color combo! Using a card from our White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack I was ready to cut my other Cardstock layers. I used my same 3 colors (Capri, grape, Mint) for the layers with the stamping going on White Daisy Cardstock in Intense Black Exclusive Ink. To color the image I used Watercolor Pencils for the flowers. After using the pencils I painted over the flowers with a Water Brush to blend. There wasn't a green watercolor pencil that looked like Mint so I used my Mint ink pad. I squeezed the pad with the cover on to get some ink on the inside lid. Then using a Water Brush I painted the leaves and stems. Once all those steps were done I got my craft knife out and cut around the edge of the large flower. I didn't cut the bottom inch or so of the flower. I added some Thin Foam Tape to the back of the large flower and regular adhesive around the edges of the rest of this piece. Once all the layers were glues to the card front I painted all the flowers with Clear Shimmer Brush so they had some sparkle. I also added dots of Sage (because it looks like Mint) Liquid Pearls around the image. For the inside of the card I stamped a fun sentiment in Grape ink. Then with the long image from the Brush Stroke set I stamped Capri ink in 2nd generation twice over the sentiment and once in 1st generation Mint ink. Her is a close-up of the popped up flower. The second close-up shows the shimmer I painted on the flowers. C1940 Academia Rose Z4437 Postage Frames Thin Cut Dies Inside of card. This is my DT Card for Color Dare #614 "Inspiration Photo" partnering with Double Trouble's "3-2-1 Recipe" and using the Sketch Saturday Challenge #757. My background paper includes yellow, green, pink and blue and used the 3-2-1 Banana Split Recipe requirements and enhancements. The Sketch Saturdays Challenge #757 was perfect for creating many layers.. the squares and panel borders gave me the required layers, as well as four floral die images, both were enhancements to the Recipe. My embellishments were Nuvo yellow drops on each square. On the inside right hand border a patterned zip strip was added and a flower and leave dies using the same patterned papers. Welcome to my blog. Today I am featuring a fun challenge at Color Dare. Below is the "Six Pack" color board. You must select at least three colors but you may include all six if you choose. Black, white, metallic, and neutrals are available in addition to the colors in the Six Pack. Be cautious - use only colors (or a close match) specified on the color board. Rosy, Lemonade, and Sapphire were my selections. Free elements in black, white, and tan were also used. Not having the specific colors named the closest matches from my collection of ink pads plus Copic markers were used. I was shopping my stash when I saw this old stamp set. I imagined some of the challenge colors in the rooster's feathers. After stamping the rooster, his image was colored with Copics and then stamped with the checkerboard pattern to "ground" him. I had no Rosy or Sapphire cardstock so applied ink from ink pads using a direct-to-paper technique. I like the texture-like result of the blue panel. I thought the sentiment from a different stamp set worked well with the crowing rooster so stamped it and popped it up with 1 mm foam tape and then added a companion sentiment inside the card that says, "It's Your Birthday". Once the layers were assembled, they were adhered to a white card base. The sunflowers, also part of the stamp set, were stamped, colored with Copics, fussy-cut, and then added with 2 mm foam tape. For guidelines visit the Color Dare Challenge #615 Blog and view the Design Team's inspirational cards, too. This biweekly challenge begins on Friday, August 23, 2024, and ends on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Although our challenges are two weeks long, we have a new challenge beginning every Friday. Thank you for stopping by. It makes my heart happy to read your kind thoughts. 💖 Melanie Materials Stamps: Stampendous "Farm Fresh Rooster" & "Cowlick Sunshine" Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black; Stampin' Up! Black and White are free colors to use. As you can see, my pastel colors are pink, yellow, green and lavender. I kept the background a tone on tone look with lavender. The "filling" for the macarons was done with the Liquid Pearls. Markers were used for the macarons and then cut out with a Thin Cut die. The corner was created with the Dots Slimline Thin Cut. I cut it long enough for my card then cut on the diagonal between the dots. Z4101 Ooh La La Macarons B1771 Embroidered Borders Other Close To My Heart products used for this card. Here is my Design Team card for Color Dare #612 "TicTacToe" choosing Row 1 colors of Pumpkin, Limeade, Sundance + Sapphire. The stamp set originally from my stash the florals were too large. Going back through my stash found another similar stamp set from June of 2023 which had not yet been used and it was perfect for the Sketch Saturday Challenge #756. Cut two 1 3/4" x 3 1/4" panels using Limeade, and the shorter panel 1 3/4" x 2 1/2 using Sundance. There was one stamp on the first floral, a small wire trellis, which I stamped with black ink to fill the panels with a slight border. Adhered the panels direct the backgroundf patterned paper with Pumpkin color to complete colors in Column 1 of the TicTacToe. The florals were then stamped using Sapphire ink on the two Limeade panels and a sentiment on the Sundance panel. I thought it still needed something more to balance so I stamped another floral on each of the limeade panels, with the one flowing over to the Sundance panel. That made me happy. On the inside of the card, another one of the Botanical Shadows was stamped along the bottom border with a floral on the right-hand corne using Sapphire ink. Please hop on over and join us at Color Dare's Color Board #612 and check out the Design Teams inspiration, and then let us see what you create... hope to see you there. For this card I used the Color Dare Challenge and did a Christmas card. I love using non-traditional colors at the Holidays. So take a look. What do you think? I got out an older set of Thin Cut Dies (still available --link is below) and some Glitter Paper, because well.... it's a Christmas card! We have many colors of glitter paper so I used the colors from our challenge: Dessert Rose and Gold. The ornament base is Rosemary Cardstock. I also used White Daisy and Melon cardstock on the card. I stamped some branches at the top from The Merriest Season stamp set and a sentiment from Christmas Story - Cardmaking. The inside sentiment is from the October Stamp of the Month: Blessings of the First Noel. The ornament is popped up on some Thin Foam Tape and the Melon Ribbon is attached with a Glue Dot. The final touch was to add a few drops of Coral Pearls and a couple Gold Glitter Gems. Z3533 Custom Ornament Thin Cuts Let's go shopping! If you need a Maker (consultant) I'd be happy to help. Welcome to Colour Dare Challenge 615! The colour grid is below - choose at least three of the colours shown. I used Lemonade, Jade, Sapphire and Capri. The geometric background was stencilled from light to dark using Lemonade, Capri and Sapphire inks. That was trimmed down to fit an A2 card with a Sapphire border. The floral image was cut on my Cricut in shades of yellow and green and adhered to a vellum oval to soften the background. The sentiment was white embossed on blue, added to a piece of vellum and then placed across the bottom. A twine bow was tied at the base of the flowers and I added some clear dew drops to finish off this pretty card. Come and join us at Colour Dare and show us how you interpret this challenge. You have two weeks to link up your project. We can't wait to see what you create! Enjoy, Alyson
My DT project for ColorMyHeart Color Dare #315 was made using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #286. When I saw this color grid my thought was Candy Corn so I chose the right-hand row of Nectarine, Lemon and Black. Went to Cricut Design Space, die cut candy corn using nectarine, yellow and white, outlined the sections, cut a black shadow around candy corn and stamped on the face and sentiment. Found another stampset to use for the small candy corn, stamped in Nectarine on white cardstock, colored the yellow, layered on black paper for shadow, fussy-cut the candy corn, placed as embellishment on the background design paper selected and then framed it on black cardstock before adding to card base. After posting my card in several challenges... decided to repair the eyes because they appeared spooky instead of sweet and cute. The first attempt was to pull off the spooky googly eyes, re-stamp and re-apply the eyes with liquid glass. Not happy with double stamping or torn paper. Second attempt removed the original white cardstock off the candy corn layer, re-cut, stamped and applied liquid glass carefully using less. Now Happy … this gave me my sweet and cute as in above card. We use CTMH color names for reference... however, don't be afraid to use any products as long as you match closest to the colors in the Board. Choose your row, column or diagonal and if desired, other colors from the Board can be used. New Guidelines on Neutrals: White, Cream, Black, Gray, Kraft and Brown(s) are free to use; however if they are included in the challenge graphic they MUST be used in your creation. Our Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge for this week is a bit different than our usual challenge. This week you pick ONE neutral color, ONE metallic or glitter color and ONE color. Black and White are free to use but don't add any other color to the palette. When you're ready use the link on our home page to join the challenge! You can also find full details and sample ideas from our Design Team on our home page. Every month I do the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop with a group of CTMH Makers. I was SO inspired by a card created by Michelle Stewart I just couldn't wait to create one of my own! She used Desert Rose for her card and it's stunning! I decided to go with a different color and chose Blue Belle. Then I couldn't stop and created two more cards! One uses Sangria and the other Sage. I love them all and just by changing the color you get such different looks! Here's the Blue Belle card. The die cut is beautiful and cuts a piece 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Perfect for the card front! I cut black cardstock 1/8" smaller than the Blue Belle finished size and glued it to the back of the die cut. The sentiment layers were die cut also and they layer perfectly. The white was spattered with a shimmer brush. After adding some Blue Belle Gems it was done! It's a very easy and quick card to make. Inside of card For the Sangria card I used Silver Foil on the layers and accented with Sangria Ribbon and White Pearls. The Sage card has a holographic layer for the sentiment and Julep sequins. With small changes from card to card you can still tell it's the same basic design but get very different feels. Hey! This week we are pairing our Color Dare with the Design Team at Double Trouble! Don't worry, it's not going to be hard to meet requirements for both challenges. For our color challenge you need to use at least THREE of the colors in our graphic. Take a look at the graphic for the fine print rules. The biggest rule is that you can't add new colors to your project. We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready use the link under our graphic to go directly to Color Dare #586. For the Double Trouble Challenge the rules are to use something Valentine and/or Things that fly. See their graphic below for the rules and a link to their challenge. I went with the Valentine idea and used our colors of Periwinkle, Ballerina and Jade. The stamp set is our Gorgeous February Stamp of the Month: Say It with Flowers. You can get it with or without Thin Cut Dies, too! What a pretty bouquet to give for Valentine's Day. I kept the colors on the soft side by using a Waterbrush picking up ink from the stamp pad lid. To get ink on the lid just squeeze the pad a few times before opening it up. I love how the papers pick up the color theme. I also used a pattern from our How-to Book Volume 6. It's pattern #23. Our How-to Books have samples, cutting and placement guides to help you get it just right. It's also a good way to get started and then add your own twists. I used a Blending Brush to add some ink behind the popped up flowers. Some Sparkles and Hearts and it was done! See the full list of products used below. Friday means it's time for a new Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge. Our Design Team challenges you to create any paper craft using at least three colors from the grid featured below. Black and White are free colors but no other neutrals are allowed. We reference Close To My Heart colors but you're free to use any brand you have as long as you can make a VERY CLOSE MATCH. "Kind of close" doesn't count. Post your creation to the link on our home page. We love seeing what you create! I ended up using all the colors in the grid plus black and white. I love how this turned out! It reminds me of looking out a window into a garden. The stamp set is called Floral Borders and comes with a positive and negative border of flowers plus some small accents and sentiments. Just looking at the stamp set it cries out tons of ideas! Each floral border is almost 6" long so as you can tell I only used a section of the image for this card. This is just a reminder you can use all or part of an image! I colored the image using a water brush and ink from the lid of the stamp pad, BUT the dark blue flowers were colored using our Sapphire Shimmer Brush. The other flowers were given some shimmer too with our Clear Shimmer Brush. It just gives a nice subtle sparkle to whatever you use it on. I used our Stitched Rectangle Thin Cut Dies to cut out the floral layer and agin in Pewter cardstock for the frame. The banners are a nice finish to the frame don't you think? Close up to kind of see the shimmer...at least on the dark flower. Floral Borders stamp set Let's go shopping! If you need a consultant I'd be happy to help. If you'd like to BE a consultant I'd love to have you on my team. Now it's your turn to create and share. Remember to use only colors in the grid or that are a very close match. Off you go...... Color Dare #338 is based on colors from the inspirational photo to the right. In our challenges we reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as it's a close match. In this case, whatever colors you see in the photo you can use but do not add any additional colors. You can make any paper craft you like as long as it uses colors that match those in the photo to the right. Do not add any colors not seen in the photo. Link to the Color My Heart Color Dare home page. Color Dare #338 is open through Thursday April 25, 2019. Ooooooohhhhhh I LOVE this card! It's based on a card by Laura Beacham and I just had to make it and put my own spin on it. Let's go.....! For the flowers I used out April Stamp of the Month: Love So Sweet. It's only available from April 1-30th and I know you're going to want one for yourself because it's SO pretty! There are so many images and sentiments to create with I know you'll use it time and again! For the flowers I combined two techniques; one that causes a smeared look and the other giving a two tone color look. First I inked the image in Raspberry ink the usual way. Once the stamp was fully inked I pulled it across the stamp pad for the smeared look. Before stamping I then rolled the edges on the Pansy ink pad for the two tone look. THEN I stamped the image. Both techniques give a nice texture to the images either alone or together. All the images were cut out and arranged on the card front. The background was made by using the Stitched Quilt Shapes thin Cuts (die cuts). I cut 4 squares, 6 large triangles and 2 small triangles. The base is 3" x 5". I started in the upper right corner with a small triangle and then just placing the rest of the shapes as needed. It's easy but takes a little time and it's totally worth it! Close To My Heart products Stamp Set: Love So Sweet - April Stamp of the Month (available April 1-30). White Cards and Envelopes Value Pack Cardstock: White Daisy, Pansy Exclusive Inks: Raspberry, Pansy, Clover, Sweet Leaf Thin Cuts: Stitched Quilt Shapes Embellishments: Clear Shimmer Brush, Black & White Dots Thin 3D Foam Tape Let's go shopping! If you need a consultant I'd be happy to help. If you'd like to BE a consultant I can help with that, too. Ok now it's your turn to create and share. Use colors from the grid above and create your paper craft. The link tool is on our home page. Have fun and we can't wait to see what you create! It's Friday! Time for a new color challenge from our Design Team at Color My Heart Color Dare. This challenge is simple... use Grey with ONE COLOR. Black, White & Gold are free to use with Grey and your one color. Do not add any extra colors or you will be disqualified. We hate when that happens! I couldn't wait to use this new stamp set from our Core Catalog 2022-23. It's just so whimsical and fun! For my Grey I used Charcoal and my ONE color is Melon (our Color of the Year). I love the soft look these two colors make together. Here I've used Melon, White Daisy & Charcoal Cardstock and Exclusive Inks in Melon, Black and Charcoal. I accidentally twisted the Melon and White layers when putting them together and decided I like it and left it that way. I stamped a couple swirls at the bottom and added the Melon star from our Dots Embellishments. We now have these Dots in a variety of shapes and sizes in each package .... AND .... in 10 color combinations! Inside of card D2109 Flourish Layers B1806 Flourished Greetings Let's go shopping! If you need a Maker (consultant) I'd be happy to help. Welcome to a new color challenge from our Design Team at Color My Heart Color Dare. Each Friday we post a new challenge to inspire you. This challenge is a 3 color challenge. You MUST use all 3 colors. See the fine print in the graphic below for the rest of the rules. We reference Close To My Heart colors but you can use any brand you have as long as you can make a very close match. Kind of close doesn't count. Make any paper craft you like. When you're ready to join our challenge use the direct link under the graphic. I felt our new Butterfly Slimline Embossing Folder + Stencils (link below) would be a perfect way to create for this challenge. Using Cardstock in Peach, Harbour and Rosemary I created the layers on the card front. Now is the time to stock up on Cardstock during our big sale! The Peach layer was embossed giving me the raised butterfly images. Then using the two coordinating stencils I added Exclusive Ink in Peach and Harbour with Blending Brushes. The sentiments are from the Cosette Cardmaking set and stamped in Rosemary Ink. As a finishing touch I added Iridescent Flower Confetti to the design. This confetti is so pretty but the photo just doesn't show it off very well. Hint: placing the tiny confetti was easy using our Pick up Tool. All you have to do i touch the item and it picks right up for you to place on your project. Click her for direct link to Color Dare #544 If you don't make slimline cards the embossing folder + stencils will still work for you! I used my "practice" piece to make these two standard size cards. I simple cut the embossed layer in half. Another way to use it is to just place your smaller sized cardstock in the folder where you want it. The stencil just those butterflies.
