Twenty years ago, I embarked on a journey with my camera that transformed my life. My passion for photography led me to capture breathtaking landscapes, explore charming old towns, and document the beauty of cityscapes. Over the years, my work found a place in several galleries, where I had the pleasure of meeting customers face-to-face. Those personal connections were a cornerstone of my career, and I cherished the stories and interactions that came with every sale. As the years rolled by, the constant travel and gallery time started to take their toll. The once-exhilarating routine began to feel more burdensome. The physical and mental strain of maintaining a gallery presence, coupled with the reality of aging, made me question whether I could continue in this traditional way. I was on the brink of second-guessing my entire career, feeling as though I might have to give it all up. The thought of leaving behind something I loved deeply was daunting. But then, a glimmer of hope emerged. I started considering the possibility of selling my artwork online—a world that seemed as vast and intimidating as it was unfamiliar. Admittedly, as someone who had grown accustomed to the tangible aspects of my career, the idea of diving into the digital marketplace was unsettling. I hesitated, unsure of how to navigate this new terrain. My mind was filled with doubts, and the fear of failure loomed large. Just when I was about to abandon the idea, I stumbled upon a community that promised support and guidance. This group was dedicated to helping artists transition to online sales, offering insights and strategies from the ground up. Although I was naturally reserved and wary of this new approach, the group's enthusiasm and encouragement persuaded me to give it a shot. With nothing to lose, I took the plunge. I started learning about setting up an online store, digital marketing, and the intricacies of social media. Each step was a new challenge, but the support from this community made a world of difference. The group’s advice helped me overcome my initial apprehensions, and slowly but surely, I began to find my footing in the online world. My first online sales were modest, but they sparked a renewed sense of optimism. The ability to reach a nationwide audience was exhilarating. Old friends and loyal customers from my gallery days rallied behind me, sharing my new online presence and helping to spread the word. This new way of selling my artwork allowed me to focus more on what I loved—creating beautiful images—and less on the logistical grind of the gallery. As time went on, I became more comfortable with this digital platform. The challenges were still present, but they were now part of a journey that felt both exciting and manageable. My work continued to find appreciative eyes, and the connections I made online began to feel as meaningful as those I had established in galleries. Looking back, I’m grateful that I didn’t give up. Embracing the online world has breathed new life into my career. With the support of my old friends and the new connections I’ve made, I feel optimistic about the future. The journey has been one of adaptation and growth, and I’m excited to see where this new path will lead me.

Awhile back I visited Sunset Magazine's headquarters in Menlo Park, California. Since then they've moved to Oakland, and while their new headquarters are pretty cool, it doesn't leave them with much garden space. Enter Cornerstone Sonoma. The garden space they've developed there is a beautiful collaboration with Homestead Design Collective. It includes a 2,300 sq ft cocktail garden, a farm garden at 2,502 sq ft, a 2,852 sq ft orchard, a 1,898 sq ft gathering space, and a 1,773 sq ft flower room (Dreamy!). My favorite part of the garden had to be the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired greenhouse by NW Green Panels, and I'm still loving the arches by TerraSculpture.
