Is it about that time for you? Time to get ready for those parent-teacher conferences? Luckily, I had mine about two weeks ago. I have the same system I follow each year to prep for conferences and it honestly makes life super easy and stress free! When I prep for conferences, I pull out a file folder where I keep student work for the year. I keep things like math tests, sight word data, writing examples and reading assessments. When I am doing a conference I simply pull that stuff out to show progress and help parents understand where we need to go next in order to help their child grow. I also like to have a conference outline. I have 15 minutes per conference, so I need to stay on track! I also let parents take this outline home as reminders of things we are working on at school and ways they can help at home. When I fill out the conference outline, I use my little prompters to help jog my brain. Let's face it, preparing for these things can make the brain go a little foggy! When it is time for the actual conferences. I put a sticky note on the outside of the student's folder with their name and the time of their conference. I lay them out in order, so when parents come in, I can just grab their folder and we can get started right away! There you have it! Super simple, but effective! Feel free to grab more conference stuff from me by clicking the product image below! It's full of FREE conference goodies!! Inlinkz coding: An InLinkz Link-up

I love to use this Student Self-Reflection assessment the week before conferences so that I can use this as a lead in to conversations at Parent Teacher conferences. Seeing their child write about their strengths and weaknesses in their own words is always a genuinely eye-opening experience and great conversation starter. Students reflect on their academic & behavioral strengths in order to better understand themselves as a learner. JUST ADDED: Side-by-Side Reflection where the teacher completes one side and student completes the second side. I recommend folding the paper in half and let student do their side first! This is a student self reflection form for elementary (1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade or 5th grade). This Self Reflection Evaluation is also available in my Conference Forms Bundle. Home of the Kabbalah Society which follows the Toledano Tradition dating back to medieval Spain where the three branches of the Abrahamic revelation met in a civilised cosmopolitan atmosphere, not unlike our own epoch. Here the Kabbalah brought together an esoteric fusion of religion and philosophy. In our time we relate its ancient theories and practices to contemporary psychology, science and art. The Kabbalah Society has groups on all five continents and periodically holds conferences and workshops in different countries.
I recently attended a conference called "The Brain, learning and applications" -- I learned a lot and am putting some thoughts together.

To help you remember the spirit you felt, here is one quote from each April 2024 general conference talk.
It’s never easy sitting in that conference hall, surrounded by countless other delegations- the eager, the fighter, the hard worker and the researcher, all colliding in a heated debate to push forward their country’s interests. At this point, mastering your speeches and learning to direct the flow of the council debate are not just good […]

A prismatic look at the meeting of Marie Curie and Albert Einstein and the impact these two pillars of science had on the world of physics, which was in turmoil. In 1911, some of the greatest minds in science convened at the First Solvay Conference in Physics, a meeting like no other. Almost half of the attendees had won or would go on to win the Nobel Prize. Over the course of those few days, these minds began to realize that classical physics was about to give way to quantum theory, a seismic shift in our history and how we understand not just our world, but the universe. At the center of this meeting were Marie Curie and a young Albert Einstein. In the years preceding, Curie had faced the death of her husband and soul mate, Pierre. She was on the cusp of being awarded her second Nobel Prize, but scandal erupted all around her when the French press revealed that she was having an affair with a fellow scientist, Paul Langevin. The subject of vicious misogynist and xenophobic attacks in the French press, Curie found herself in a storm that threatened her scientific legacy. Albert Einstein proved a supporter in her travails. They had an instant connection at Solvay. He was young and already showing flourishes of his enormous genius. Curie had been responsible for one of the greatest discoveries in modern science (radioactivity) but still faced resistance and scorn. Einstein recognized this grave injustice, and their mutual admiration and respect, borne out of this, their first meeting, would go on to serve them in their paths forward to making history. Curie and Einstein come alive as the complex people they were in the pages of The Soul of Genius. Utilizing never before seen correspondance and notes, Jeffrey Orens reveals the human side of these brilliant scientists, one who pushed boundaries and demanded equality in a man’s world, no matter the cost, and the other, who was destined to become synonymous with genius. | Author: Jeffrey Orens | Publisher: Pegasus Books | Publication Date: Jan 10, 2023 | Number of Pages: 336 pages | Language: English | Binding: Paperback | ISBN-10: 1639362177 | ISBN-13: 9781639362172
What is trauma-informed care? And what would that mean in the context of a community that has experienced a traumatic event? Two weeks ago, NYU’s Silver School of Social Work held a one day conference on the “Core Principles of Trauma-Informed Care: The Essentials” to address these very questions. This post is the first one […]
