Having lived for the past 24 years on the edge of the vast Everglades National Park in the Big Cypress Basin, I have been attracted to the abundance of life in the Everglades that springs forth every year after soaking wet summers and extremely dry winters . Inspired by International Photographer Clyde Butcher's exquisite black and white photographs, his love for and teachings of Life in the Everglades, I have used her love of Pen and Ink to create a representational drawing collection of an intimate view of what most people miss while driving across the South Florida highways. “You have to get off the beaten path to really enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us here” “ My pen and ink artwork is a tight representational style that allows the viewer an intimate and detailed understanding of the subject matter that would be lost if color was an influence. “ Although I have been drawing and painting since I was 8 years old, my art ability didn’t fully emerge until I emigrated to the United States with my parents and brothers in 1970 and met an art teacher who saw my potential and raw talent . My artistic awards started in High School and has continued throughout my 40 year art career. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. I have won many awards in juried shows for my watercolor, acrylic and pen and ink work., have had 4 one woman shows and been fortunate to have have representation in 6 galleries from New England to Florida over the years. My work is in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, as well as England, Australia ,Israel and Lebanon to name a few.
