You can find this full lesson plan in my 4th Grade Curriculum Lesson Pack HERE! I have had quite a few people ask me about the handouts I used to do this color value lesson: So here you go... Sorry that I cut of the word "white" on the left side when I copied it, but the kids still get the idea. You can always just re-write it on the original before copying. I also included a value shading handout that I use for colored pencil and pencil projects. Enjoy! [These are cell-phone photos of copies of the handouts, but they should print fine. I hand-draw most of my handouts and then make copies!]

I am working on some quick assessment sheets for key concepts in art class. I came across this famous lines handout from The Bees Knees Cousin. I’m also not too big on worksheets and we rarely do them in art class, but they can be good for some fine motor practice and assessment. I liked the famous lines handout and tried to download it from Scribd, but I couldn’t get it to work. So I ended up making my own … Read more... →

This packet of Play-Doh activities is meant for use in the junior high or high school classroom, and will employ kinesthetic activities while still checking for understanding and reinforcing the learning taking place in your classroom. I have found that students JUMP at the chance to use play-doh in the classroom. They love the “throwback” to their childhoods as well as getting to use their hands. Many of these activities were originally used in a Language Arts and/or World Studies (co-curricular English and World History) classroom, but can definitely be used in any subject classroom (I give ideas for different subject areas) with reading assignments, vocabulary needing to be learned, and reflection on topics that require student assessment. There are 15 ideas listed on 2 pages, with 9 other pages of handouts including: 1. Play-Doh Check for Understanding Handout 2. Play-Doh Vocabulary Matching Game Handout 3. Kinesthetic Brain Engagement Handout 4. Process or Timeline Play-Doh Handout 5. Gallery Walk Questions Handout 6. Teacher Bell Ringer You Create Handout 7. Living Comic Strip Handout 8. Show and Tell Handout **Feel free to check the preview for some of the ideas for FREE! Grab the entire bundle for all 15 ideas! :) ***Psssst! Wanna cheat? These ideas are ALL listed on my blog at www.carriewisehart.com/blog - but you can only get the handouts HERE. :)
