50+ Fun Relief Society Activities that your sisters will thoroughly enjoy and talk about for months to come!
Even though it's been months since I was released from Young Women's I still miss it. I got asked to help out with a craft project for New Beginnings and jumped at the chance. These were pretty easy to make. In fact, we had the girls make them. We had them precut and sanded for them. I got the cute subway art from Melinda over at Under My Umbrella. She is seriously talented!! We used 2x6 boards and cut them into 6 inch blocks. We had the girls paint the entire block black. Then we took a piece of scrapbook paper and modgepodged it onto the board. Then we took the subway art and attached it with modge podge to the front of the block. Add another coat of modge podge, tie a cute bow and you have a way cute reminder of the theme for the year! I had a blast coming up with them. I tried making them in different sizes, but this was the cutest. It was a great project to be involved in. I came up with the idea and my friend and her hubby did all the gathering, cutting and sanding! I got to go and help the girls make them! It was perfect!
A blog about the different roles that we juggle being moms!
Congrats to the cutest Sherry and Kathy on being the winners of my Favorite Things Giveaway! Winners have been contacted and will be receiving all their fun things within the next few weeks. Thank you so, so much for everyone who entered. Stay tuned for more fun giveaways in the future! My Mom is seriously the cutest, most creative lady I know. If you've followed this blog for any amount of time you probably already know that. She is currently serving as an Activity Day Leader in her ward and of course rocking it. She just had the most adorable Manners Matter Feast and I'm so thrilled she's letting me share all the details. This doesn't just have to be for Activity Days either, my older sister is the Primary President in her ward and was going to do a few of these things with her Primary, it would also make a perfect and easy family night leading up to Thanksgiving! She started her Manners Matter Feast with a story to introduce the topic. We couldn't find one we liked and that fit the theme and purpose of the activity so I made one up! You can download the story at the bottom of THIS post. She blew up the turkey we were using and used colored paper for the different feathers, and added the feathers along with telling the story. The story is all about a turkey named Maggie that finds out how manners make life more colorful. She gets a new colored feather every time she masters a manner. To go along with the story I made a worksheet that they could hang in their room to remember what manners they should be working on. Here's one I made for an example. They could color the feathers the different colors they liked and add the specific manners they need to work on, on each feather. Hopefully reminding them that manners really do matter! My mom said this was a huge hit and the girls loved working on this page. My mom found the cutest, colorful feather suckers that fit perfectly in her little turkey stand. I made a tag to remind them of the story when they took home their little treat. You can find the free download for these cute little tags at the end of this post! Next came learning some table manners. She found the cute place mats and Manners Matter packet at Dating Divas! She also found the cute little turkey treat holders on Etsy from Jessicas Prints HERE! She filled these cute turkeys with a fun fall mix of marshmallows, candy corn, M&M's, Honey Nut Cheerios, pretzels, and Swedish Fish. She went over some Table Manners Do's and Don'ts to prep the girls for their feast ahead. She found this sheet from a church idea book that she has had for years. If you know where it came from please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due! My mom even made the cutest paper turkey full of popcorn! She told them she had been working in the kitchen and cooking it all morning! ;) Then to setting the table! My mom already had it set as pictured above. She then taught the girls how to set the table-perfect for Thanksgiving Day prep! Then came eating! She had mini pudding cups, turkey slices, rolls, veggies, fruit, chocolate covered popcorn, and chocolate rice krispy treats with a white chocolate drizzle. We tried to stick with either brown or colorful foods to go along with the theme! We can't quit this super easy and addicting white chocolate popcorn! I tossed in some regular M&M's to add that pop of color! Find the recipe HERE! The girls were told to use their manners while having their feast. The girls absolutely loved it and learned so much about manners. At the end of the activity they passed out the feather suckers (find more about those HERE) and gave back the worksheets they had done earlier. I have a new Minute To Win It game. It's a New Testament version. Just click on the picture to check it out. In Seminary this year we are studying the Old Testament. For our Christmas party I thought that it would be fun to have a review of the year so far with Minute to Win it games. Here is what I came up with. I gave each team 5 apples and had them do their best to stack them. The team who had the most apples stacked at one minute won. You could also have a person from each team eat an apple and the person who eats most of the apple wins. For this one you will need 2 jars and a bunch of plastic animals. I taped a picture of Noah's Ark to the outside. Each person puts the jar by their feet. While standing straight each person tries to drop an animal into the jar from their nose. The teams that has the most animals is the jar at one minute wins. Each team is given a stack of cups. The team who has the tallest tower at one minute wins. For this one you will need 2 empty tissue boxes, 2 belts and 16 ping pong balls. Put slits on the two sides of the tissue box to slip the belt through. Fill each tissue box with 8 ping pong balls. Each person playing ties the belt around his waist with the box in the back. They both have one minute to dance around until all of the ping pong balls (seeds) have been bounced out of the tissue box. For this you will need 2 straws, 40 marshmallows, and two plates. Each person will have one minutes to get 20 marshmallows (sheep) into the plate (the pen) with the straw. For this challenge you will need 10 3"x 14" pieces of poster board and about 40 cups. Give each player 5 pieces of poster board and a stack of cups. Each player builds a ladder with the poster board for rungs. The team with the tallest ladder wins. Each team gets a copy of Joseph's coat to color. They have one minute to color it on their head. Each player must use at least five colors. The team is allowed to give advice on how to color in the lines. The team that does the best job wins. This one I did not end up doing. Here's how it could be done. You will need 20 old Bibles. Each team will have one member help another team member stack 5 Bibles in each hand. Then they will have to walk across the room with all 10 Bibles without dropping them. The team that gets all 10 Bibles across the room first wins. This challenge is in reference to Deuteronomy 33:17. Give each team a bag of Honeycomb cereal. Each team will have one member lie down on the ground while another team member stacks the honeycomb cereal, one on top of the other, to look like a unicorn horn. The team that has the tallest horn wins (without cheating). For this challenge you will need to print out two pictures of the brick wall below onto cardstock. Fold the cardstock in half like a card. Place the cards at one end of the table. Both teams have a member blow the card across the table and then try to get the card to hang off the edge without falling off. If the card falls off then they have to start all over. Bounce a ping pong ball at least twice to knock over Goliath. The first person to do it in under a minute wins. Here's a printout for you to use. For the Champions I made these trophies out of Toblerone. Just print out the picture below. Cut it out and glue it to the top of a Toblerone. The students loved it. This is all the further we have studied this year. If we come up with more games I will be sure to post them on here. Good Luck! Check out my other New Testament Minute to Win it game. Here's another fun game to play with scriptures. I also have Grinch Minute to Win it Games And Alice in Wonderland Minute to Win it Games And Frozen themed Minute to Win it Ideas

"Great Power can come from Memorizing Scriptures." -Elder Richard G. Scott Here is one way to organize your Scripture Memorizing. FIRST - Purchase a MINI Notebook (I bought the moleskin notebooks at Target because they are only 1/4" thick, small and easy to take with me) NEXT - Type up the scriture you are memorizing and glue it to a page (this takes less space and makes larger sections easier to memorize from) Use a glue stick to paste in your little book Now slip it into your purse/glovebox, scripture case anywhere! I made sure to include the Psalm he quoted - Psalm 24 Keeping all the scriptures you've memorized in one book means you can easily review them so they will stay in your Long Term Memory. What to memorize? Any scripture that hits you with a pow The 10 commandments Psalm 23 - "The Lord is my Shepherd" - have you ever memorized an entire Psalm? In the past children would memorize entire Psalms regularly Psalm 24 - Elder Scott suggests this Mosiah 14 - Memorizing Isaiah is a great way to really think about some of the beautiful messages he's given us A favorite quote from conference

As much as we would all love to get in-person life advice from Elder Holland (and he would probably love to give it), that is unlikely to happen to most of us. But somewhere on this handy list, there's a quote from this passionate Apostle that will speak directly to your situation.
