Captain Moroni has a very valiant man. If you have any doubt of that you just need to read Alma 48:17. My oldest was excited to talk about him because he said Captain Moroni was his favorite person in the Book of Mormon. You can download this scripture hero chart here. We watched several videos today. From the LDS Scripture videos we watched Chapter 32, 33, and 34. We also watched a video called "Firm in the Faith" which is a video about Captain Moroni being a hero and his confrontation with Zerahemnah. Check out Teaching LDS Children's lesson on Moroni Defeating Zerahemnah and Captain Moroni and the Title of Liberty. We talked about wearing the armor of God and what each piece represents in wearing Spiritual Armor (missing in the picture is the shield and sword). You can find this to print and the descriptions in the first lesson about Captain Moroni in the link above. A Year of FHE has a good lesson on Captain Moroni and The Title of Liberty as well. It also includes this idea of making our own Title of Liberty using paper and straws. Here are all three with their own Titles of Liberty. I also came across this cool coloring page about wearing the armor of God. There is also one for girls. We also sang "I Will Be Valiant" from the Children's Songbook.
The solemn testimony of the Three Witnesses has appeared in every edition of the Book of Mormon since 1830. Each of these specific men—Oliver Cowdery, Martin Harris, and David Whitmer—sacrificed much to help with the translation and publication of the Book of Mormon, and it’s likely this is a significant part of why they were chosen as witnesses. Importantly, throughout their lives and even during periods of estrangement from the church, none of them ever denied their testimonies. Their joint vision of the gold plates, the angel who delivered and presented them, the voice from heaven confirming their truth, and the other artifacts which accompanied them provide powerful evidence that the Book of Mormon is true.

Over the past twenty years of teaching the Book of Mormon I’ve found that many people get confused in the storyline about the book of Omni. We know what happened to Nephi, and Jacob was his brother. But by the time we get to King Benjamin, many of us aren’t quite sure why Benjamin is in the land of Zarahemla, Limhi is in the land of Nephi and how they both relate to Mosiah1, Mosiah2, Zeniff, Noah, Abinadi and Alma1. My hope is to give a clear summary of the Book of Mormon storyline from Omni through Mosiah 25.
Der Sachverhalt mit der Ermordung des obersten Richters Siezoram war jetzt geklärt und einige glaubten nun, dass Nephi ein Prophet ist und bekehrten sich, andere wiederum nicht: „Und es begab sich:…

No other event had a greater impact on Alma’s life than the transformative three days he spent racked with torment after being rebuked by an angel. The themes of that experience permeate his sermons, and at least three different accounts of it survive in the Book of Mormon.

Seminary is getting closer and closer! I've been busy preparing lessons, getting materials together, and (to be honest) kind of dreading getting up early. I think I've been a little spoiled this summer! Grumpy Cat always understands me. This year, along with the new curriculum, eight of the twenty-five Book of Mormon Scripture Mastery scriptures are different. Unfortunately this means that a lot of the materials are still in the process of being updated, and a lot of the free printables and things I've been using from other seminary teachers are no longer current. Bummer! So... I made a couple of my own. I figured I would post them here just in case there are any other seminary teachers looking for something like this. Feel free to print or edit them any way you like! I made this one to be the same size as the new Scripture Mastery cards. Last year some of my students (and myself, to tell the truth...) had a hard time keeping track of their cards, so this year I put them on rings and added this list to the ring. I figure it is a good way for them to have everything in one place so it's easy to pull out and hopefully won't get misplaced as easily. (Left click to enlarge, right click to save and print) To get the card the right size, I printed them as wallet sized pictures (on white cardstock). The tricky part is cutting them the right length because the new cards are kind of long. I messed up a couple of sheets, so... good luck! :) Also, because of the way the new SM cards were printed, the only way to punch holes in the cards without losing text is to do it in one of the bottom corners. Keep that in mind if you plan on putting them on rings! The finished product! I also made a 4x6 version for my students to use as bookmarks, especially since we don't have the new ones put out by the church yet. (Plus these are cuter... which is very important, am I right? :P) (Left click to enlarge, right click to save and print) I plan on printing this on the back so they have a place to keep track of the scriptures they passed off besides the poster at the front of the class. This is partially because we had a couple problems with people putting stickers in the wrong places... sometimes accidentally, sometimes not. ;) Last one... I have had this quote hanging on the wall in front of the classroom and decided to make one that was a little more eye-catching (but still simple). The colors are a little dark in the download because my printer tends to print things lighter than they should be, so feel free to tweak the colors if it doesn't print quite the way you want. Here's how it looks in real life. See what I mean? Well, there you have it! Let me know if you have any questions! Also, I plan on making (and posting) more seminary printables so if you have suggestions or ideas feel free to shoot me a comment or email.
The Book of Mormon offers unique and profound insights into each phase of God’s Plan of Salvation, as had been revealed by angelic messengers to prophets such as Alma, Ammon, Benjamin, Abinadi, Jacob, Nephi, Lehi, and the brother of Jared. Those who diligently study God's eternal plan will find their eternal bearings, a renewed sense of meaning and purpose in life, and hope and faith that they can someday experience eternal life with God and Christ.

Working in advertising through the last 50 years, I found opportunities to do cartoons to enhance my skills. When my son Doug served a mission, he would write home and tell of an experience and I would turn that experience into a cartoon which I would draw and attach at the bottom of my letter back to him. It was all just for fun until in 2000, Meridian Magazine put out a call for cartoons.
