This antique Danish silver brooch is a beautiful testament to the power of art and love. Although there are no visible maker marks, the mystery surrounding its origin adds to its charm. The brooch features a captivating image of cupid riding on an eagle, inspired by a 1829 drawing by Danish artist Christen Kobke. The repoussé style gives the piece depth, while the rococo-inspired border adds sophistication. Crafted from lower-grade silver, the brooch has a historical patina. Its substantial size (L64.7mm x W51.8mm) and weight (25.3 grams) make it a statement accessory. With a central pin and a secure roll-over catch, it combines beauty with practicality for comfortable wear. Preserved remarkably well, this brooch reflects the enduring appeal of classical influences, seamlessly blending history with modernity despite dating back to the early 20th century. More than just jewelry, this brooch is a symbolic gift representing enduring love and artistic appreciation. Its uniqueness and historical significance make it an extraordinary choice for a special person in your life, offering a tangible piece of art and a timeless expression of love.

The original works are usually too long, or too short, to neatly fill a store-bought frame. Most shops arbitrarily crop the artwork to match, leading to claustrophobic prints with missing or partial elements. These modifications — sometimes trivial, sometimes ludicrous — are not always shown in the product photos. We believe that the purpose of art is not to fill a frame; it is the purpose of a frame to showcase the art. Our prints have inset borders that make up any differences in proportion between the artwork and a standard frame, so that you can experience the art as the artist intended. They look sharp in beveled mats, may be float mounted, or inserted directly into standard frames; the borders providing a mat-like accent around the image. There are many styles from which to choose. Framing is a fun, creative process that enhances the artwork and livens your space for years to come. Should you like any advice, feel free to reach out. CUSTOMIZATION AND IMAGE REQUESTS ----------------------------- We are happy to customize our prints to fit your frame. Borderless prints may require the artwork to be cropped to fit a new aspect ratio. In such cases, we will provide a mockup to ensure that the final product meets with your approval. If you’re looking for an artwork that is not in our catalog, feel free to ask if we can provide it. We will print any public domain or openly licensed image that is available in high resolution. MUSEUM QUALITY ----------------------------- Giclée process prints are the gold standard in fine art reproduction. We use a matte finish, cotton fiber paper to maximize detail while eliminating glare. Our prints display a wide color gamut, deep blacks and beautiful tonal transitions. Produced using only archival materials, they will not fade or yellow, but maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. HANDMADE DECLARATION ----------------------------- To assure artistic quality, all of our production and design is strictly in-house. Every print has been proofed, calibrated and inspected for defects. We do not drop ship, resell or make use of third-party production partners. SHIPPING AND PACKAGING ----------------------------- All orders ship within one business day via USPS First Class, Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. Sizes 9” x 12” and 12” x 16” ship in a flat configuration, unless combined with larger prints, which require tubes. We will replace any lost or damaged items at no expense to you. HAPPINESS GUARANTEE ----------------------------- We will promptly address any issues that may arise with your order. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.

Supplemental information from the museum's website (© Copyright - by Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark) - Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark)) While travelling in Italy Købke achieved a much greater degree of painterly freedom in his studies than before, particularly in his painted studies from Capri. These images have a sketch-like quality not found in other Danish painters. Købke’s new style of painting had a knock-on effect on the studies done near his home on Blegdammen after his return from Italy. Motif and angle In the painting of the garden steps he evinces an unheard-of boldness in his choice of motif and angle – and in his cropping of the scene. We barely get an impression of the house; the gnarly tree by the steps is the key element of the painting together with the beautifully observed sunlight hitting the façade and tree, falling in through a window and upon the open door. The painting has no parallel in Danish art of the period. The Garden Steps Leading to the Artist’s Studio on is an artpiece created by Christen Købke in the year 1845. This work of art is included in the Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark)'s art collection, which is the largest museum of fine arts in Denmark and is attached to the Danish Ministry of Culture.. With courtesy of National Gallery of Denmark (public domain).Creditline of the artwork: . Further, the alignment is in landscape format with an image ratio of 3 : 2, which implies that the length is 50% longer than the width. Christen Købke was a male painter from Denmark, whose art style can be classified as Romanticism. The Danish painter lived for a total of 38 years - born in the year 1810 in Copenhagen and deceased in 1848. Available product materials For every fine art print we offer a range of different sizes & materials. Choose among the following product options now to match your preferences in size and material: Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): The print on acrylic glass, which is often described as a print on plexiglass, will change your selected artwork into décor. Your favorite artwork will be manufactured with modern UV print technology. This has the effect of impressive, vivid colors. The major upside of an acrylic glass art print is that contrasts plus details become identifiable due to the very subtle tonal gradation of the picture. The acrylic glass protects your custom art replica against light and heat for decades. Aluminium dibond: Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an impressive effect of depth - for a modern look and a non-reflective surface structure. For the Direct Aluminium Dibond option, we print your favorite work of art onto the surface of the white-primed aluminum material. The white & bright parts of the artpiece shine with a silk gloss, however without the glow. The canvas print: The canvas print is a printed canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy and straightforward to hang up your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for any type of wall. Poster print on canvas material: The Artprinta poster is a printed sheet of canvas paper with a granular structure on the surface. The printed poster is excellently designed for framing the fine art print with the help of a custom-made frame. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin 2-6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame. Detailed art product infos The over 180 year old masterpiece "Morning View of Østerbro" was painted by Christen Købke in 1836. Further, the alignment is landscape and has a ratio of 3 : 2, meaning that the length is 50% longer than the width. The European painter lived for a total of 38 years and was born in the year 1810 in Copenhagen and passed away in 1848 in Copenhagen. What does the original description of the Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark) state about the work of art painted by Christen Købke? (© Copyright - by Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark) - Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark)) In 1833 Købke moved with his parents to Blegdammen by the Sortedam Lake, then located outside of Copenhagen proper. In the years that followed he found many of his motifs by the lake. Købke also found the scene shown in this picture close to his home, at the end of the lake. It shows Østerbrogade, still rural back in those days, edged by distinguished farm buildings. Everyday scenes Almost every morning during the summer of 1836, Købke took up position by the road to watch the sunset and a number of everyday scenes: Fishwives are resting on their way from the fishing hamlet of Skovshoved into the city in order to sell fish; a party of peasants wearing their Sunday best are on an excursion to Copenhagen in a carriage, perhaps to sell vegetables; in the middle of the road cows are following their habitual path from their stables to the common; and respectable citizens are promenading the streets in the shade along the houses. A monumental feel All this takes place while the first rays of the sun fall on the road, the poplars between the houses, and the water pump in the middle of the picture. The sky with its variety of clouds constitutes an important part of the picture and help imbue the scene with a monumental feel. An everyday scene on a large scale Everything is depicted with immense clarity and precision, and great care has been lavished on all details. Compared to other artists of the day, it was unusual for a painter to depict an everyday scene like this on such a large scale. Christen Købke, Male Model, 1833. Constantin Hansen, Male Model Sitting on a Box, 1833. It's interesting to compare these two figures studies, painted at the same time, by two artists sitting very close to each other. It's even more interesting when you consider that the two artists were Christen Købke and Constantin Hansen, and that they were painting this model in the studio of Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg. With those three names you have three of the most important figures of the Golden Age of Danish Painting. Christen Schiellerup Købke (May 26, 1810, Copenhagen – February 7, 1848, Copenhagen). Carl Christian Constantin Hansen (November 3, 1804, Rome – March 29, 1880, Copenhagen). Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, see here.
