October is the month of the Rosary, so it's a perfect opportunity to share this beautiful prayer with our kids and students. Rather than just pull out a Rosary and start reciting the prayers, I think we need to slow down and first share with them the why and the how and the meaning behind this tradition. With that knowledge, its much more likely the Rosary, whether prayed completely or a decade at a time, will impact kids and help them know the major stories from the life of Christ. If you are teaching in the classroom, some of these printables or links hopefully will help you as you pray together with your students. If you are teaching virtually or providing support for at-home catechesis, this schedule is ready to email and provides guidance for how to learn about the Rosary. All of the linked printables and videos are free to access. I'm sharing three versions of the schedule- one that is date specific to October 2020, one that is just broken down by a four week period, and one that is editable and can be used how ever you like. Click here for a schedule of activities with dates marked for the four weeks in October: Click here for a generic schedule with no dates: Click here for a printable with all the prayers of the Rosary: If you print two sided, cut in half horizontally, stack, fold, and staple, you've got an easy little mini book. If you can't print two sided, just cut all the cards apart, stack, and staple. Click here for a set of cards with all the Mysteries and where to find them in the Bible: If you cut this page in quarters, they will fit just right with the Rosary prayers mini book above. Want to design your own schedule but not start from scratch? Click here for a version in Google Slides that you can make a copy of or edit and make your own: Our Lady of the Rosary, Pray for us!

Use the Pentecost Crossword as a fun activity for your next children's sermon.
When teaching kids about Vocations, I think that prayer is a critical part. We can't just talk about what Vocations are without teaching that each individual child has a specific Vocation planned by God and that they should be praying to have the wisdom to know their Vocation and the courage to live it out. This prayer activity was part of our Fulton Sheen Notebook, but it could be used as an individual project. First, fold a piece of construction paper in half bathtub style. (short ends together). place the pinky side of your hand up against the fold and trace. Cut out along the lines, but do not sever the folded side. You will end up with two hands that open up, symbolic of us opening up our hands in prayer and us opening up our hands in service, which is what a Vocation is about. Color and cut out the My Hands Can Serve printable- link below. On one palm, glue one of the scripture verses. All can be included if you staple them together like a flip book. On the other palm, glue the vocation prayer. On the outside, glue the My Hands Can Serve title. Ta-Da! All done, and your kiddos have a quick little reminder to pray to tuck away in a book or on the family fridge. Click here for the printable:

The Immaculate Conception of Our Lady Having decided from all eternity to make Mary Mother of the Incarnate Word (Epistle), God willed that she should crush the head of the serpent from the moment of her conception. He covered her "with a mantle of holiness" (Introit) and, "preserving her soul from all stain, He made her a worthy dwelling place for His Son" (Collect). The feast of the "Conception" of the Virgin was, from the eighth century, celebrated in the East on 9th December, from the ninth century in Ireland on 3rd May, and in the eleventh century in England on 8th December. The Benedictines with St Anselm, and the Franciscans with Duns Scotus (1308) favoured the feast of the "Immaculate Conception", which in 1128 was kept in the Anglo-Saxon monasteries. In the fifteenth century Pope Sixtus IV, a Franciscan, erected at the Vatican the Sistine Chapel in honour of the Conception of the Virgin. And on 8th December 1854, Pius IX officially proclaimed this great dogma, making himself the mouthpiece of all the Christian tradition summed up in the words of the angel: "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women" (Gospel). "Thou art all beautiful O Mary, and the original stain is not in thee" says in truth the alleluia verse. Like the dawn which announces the day, Mary precedes the Sun of Justice which will soon illumine the world of souls. Bringing to us her Son, it is she who first appears in the liturgical cycle. Let us ask God "to heal us and to deliver us from all our sins" (Secret, Postcommunion) in order that by the graces which specially belong to the feast of the "Immaculate" we may become more worthy of receiving Jesus in our hearts when He comes into them on 25th December. Devotion to the Mother of God holds an important place in the liturgy of Advent. The period going from Advent to Candlemas constitutes a real liturgical season or Month of Mary. Gaudens gaudébo in Dómino, et exsultábit ánima mea in Deo meo: quia induit me vestiméntis salútis; et induménto justitiae circúmdedit me, quasi sponsam ornátam monílibus suis. *Exaltábo te, Dómine, quoniam suscepísti me: nec delectásti inimícos meos super me. I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, and my soul shall be joyful in my God: for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, and with the robe of justice He hath covered me, as a bride adorned with her jewels. * I will extol Thee, O Lord, for Thou hast upheld me: and hast not made my enemies to rejoice over me. (Isaias 61:10 and Psalm 29:2 from the Introit of Mass) Deus, qui per immaculátam Vírginis Conceptiónem dignum Fílio tuo habitáculum præparásti; quaesumus, ut qui, ex morte ejúsdem Fílii tui praevísa, eam ab omni labe præservásti, nos quoque mundos ejus intercessióne ad te pervenire concédas. O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin didst prepare a worthy dwelling place for Thy Son: we beseech Thee, that as by the foreseen death of the same Thy Son, Thou didst preserve her from all stain, so Thou wouldst grant to us also, through her intercession, to come unto Thee with clean hearts. I attended a Bible teacher's workshop and wanted to share some of the photos. The photos are mine, please excuse the roughness, I miss my good camera, but you can get the general idea. And, that is what I want to do, is share ideas for teaching Jesus! I do have permission from the women that held the workshop to share the photos. Some of the ideas you see are found in old Ideashop magazines, if you still have them! If you have specific questions on how to do something, the questions for the chart, etc, let me know and I will find out. Please allow a short time for me to return the answer. Please, keep in mind, that examples for the ideas were put all over the walls, so you will not see finished bulletin boards, etc. It is ideas for you to make! And, I did not crop the photos. Here they are, in random order: Some of the walls first Jonah & the Great Fish wall visual These creation background boards are felt and/or fabric attached to a board, and then you add pictures, etc for each day of creation. I forgot about these, until I looked at the photos... and I REALLY need to make them! The base (center) of the flower has "blessed are the..." , then students add the center over that with the answer. This is the finished flower pot. Balaam The 3 kings: Saul, David, and Solomon.
